yeah, now that I think about it, there is a good amount of weight that those to small peg joints are going to have to hold up. I hope they really did some good testing on these two.

Which tracks, if you don't mind me asking? I would like to have my options open before making my final decision..

I'm sure everything is gonna go as planned in the end. This set is worth it if you ask me..

That reminds me I was gonna post this here too...

Maybe it's already been commented and well known, but anyway - so G1 Kaen is a DE10 locomotive...

    7011-2-PO_3520186_Qty1_2.jpg

So you might think MS Kaen is just pretty compromised and inaccurate in alt mode. Well, ok the kibble sides are exactly that! But in terms of him being a much longer and symmetrical front to back design, that's actually a lot like a different real train - a bigger brother to the DE10 - the DD51...

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it might have been unintentional - they just did what they needed to do to Kaen's alt mode to make their engineering work, but I thought it was kinda cool it ended up like an actual train anyway, just a different one to G1 Kaen.

You know I still don't get how that center truck works without derailing, or needing very broad curves. Pivoting won't help, it's raw "lateral displacement", of the center of a loco on a curve. (best seen from overheard on a model railroad!). Shortest distance between two points...

My Dark Night has the same/similiar problem. Mine doesn’t look like the screw did any damage looks more like the joint wasn’t fully completed. Still fully transformable and the connection is really tight when putting back “plug” part in to connect the torso to the legs. Messaged TCP, as long as it doesn’t affect stability/tolerances for combined mode I’m cool with it.

Woah! Mind blown!! How does that thing go round any curve??!! The centre truck needs to slide sideways! I guess there's enough clearance between the wheel flanges and the rails, and curves are slight enough that it can go round without binding up or derailing. I'd need the numbers and to draw it to believe it lol! :)

Kinda similar problem with the really long steam engines with wheels all the way along them, I guess?

Most steam engines with a lot of drive wheels either split/pivot the drivers into separate sets of engines, or have blind/flangeless drivers so they can actually slide their wheels outside of the rails temporarily.

No matter how you look at it, Kaen is still Kaen. Whether he looks like a caboose or an off side version of one. I like him either way. He'll still work well with the other MS bots to form Raiden, no problem. I like the "caboose" look lol. The G1 toy is different from the MS version and vice versa, but they still serve the same purpose of being the mid and lower torso of Raiden. I have to say though, the G1 design is quite interesting. The real deal is a bit smaller compared to the figures. Then again, I might be looking at that wrong. Kaen is one interesting dude, even though he is taller than the rest of the team. I do have a question though. Out of curiosity, why was Shouki considered leader instead of Kaen?..

I would say the simple difference is Shouki is a bullet train and Kaen is a “caboose”-looking diesel locomotive. I think the reverence for bullet trains easily swayed the decision to make him the leader.

I think the leader was narrowed down to the two distinct looking bots, the two that made up the torso of Raiden, who just happen to be the bulkiest of the individual bots. And then it was an easy win to pick the bullet train.

I'm saying that in my book, Kaen is leader. He seems like the leader type for many reasons. Even if his alt mode is smaller than all the others, he's still taller than the other 5 in bot mode. As I recall, any bot that's bigger than the rest of the team, is the leader of the combiner team. Even in the other two modes of the team. Razorclaw, Silverbolt, Onslaught, well, you get the picture lol..

I kind of view him as the team's big bruiser, rather than the leader, which I suppose fits with their Decepticon counterpart, the Constructicons, who had Scrapper as the team leader despite not being the biggest of the group and forming a leg instead of the torso.

Isn’t that exactly what Kaen is? I’m going off of TfWiki’s bio on him.

I've only seen, like, two episodes of Headmasters, but that makes sense. Ironic, given that his real life train model is the smallest among all the Trainbots.

Incidentally, he's probably the one I'm most looking forward to getting (especially so I can imagine mock battles between him and Fans Toys Road King).
