Anyone know if Volume 9 will be available for non-premium members on Crunchyroll? Is there anyway I can watch it without paying money? I feel like I’m being forced out of this show because I refuse to pay for it when I can’t afford it.

Volume 9 concluded this weekend. Spoiler This was a good volume. Mostly used for character introspection and growth. The Ever After is from the story The Girl That Fell Through The World, and at the end of the volume it’s revealed it’s where the Brother Gods were born, before they out grew the Ever After and went off to make Remnant. The story told of a girl named Alyx who journeyed through the Ever After and returned home. It’s later revealed that in real life she had an older brother named Lewis who was with her. RWBY is later accompanied by the Curious Cat, who seeks to guide them in exchange for knowledge. Jaune heavily distrusts the cat. The Tree in the center of the Ever After takes its denizens when they die or fulfill their given purpose to be reborn as something new, called ascension. Throughout the volume, RWBY and Jaune(particularly) seem to misinterpret this as death, the Tree absorbing and remaking things to sustain itself. Until episode 9, they understand the true meaning of the process. Jaune got set back in time(via some sort of time “fruit”) when he arrived in the Ever After and became the Rusted Knight from the story. He meets up with Team RWBY some time after they arrived, now a decade or two older. But the trauma of what happened with Penny still haunts him. Ruby also has her own because of what happened in Atlas. Blake and Yang are forced to confront their unresolved feelings towards each other in episode 6, where they confess their love for each other and kiss for the first time. Bumbleby is now canon! Neo meanwhile, has her semblance evolve due to her emotions, allowing her to make mini armies. She still seeks revenge on Ruby. Everything comes to a head in episode 7 when Ruby and Jaune’s pain all comes pouring out and they explode on everyone. Ruby subsequently runs off and is then confronted by Neo with constructs made of past foes and friends as representations of her past failures(primarily Roman who taunts her). Neo uses these constructs to torture Ruby to the point she fails into complete despair, clenched by Neo killing Little(a mouse companion that Ruby made at the start of the volume). Ruby drinks tea made from the leaves of the Tree and is taken by it, not wanting to be herself anymore. During this episode, the Cat reveals its true colors, looking to wear Ruby down so they could possess her and go to Remnant to understand why the Brothers left(the Cat was created as the Brothers replacement in the Ever After along with the Jabberwalker). After Ruby is taken by the Tree, Neo becomes catatonic, having no purpose having fulfilled her revenge, the Cat possesses her instead. When WBY and Jaune finally understand the purpose of the Tree, they are taken straight to it, where they confront the Cat. They reveal that while Lewis went home to Remnant, Alyx had a crisis of conscience and wanted to stay and fix everything she broke in the Ever After. The Cat, who Alyx had initially promised to take back to Remnant, feeling betrayed and going insane, killed her. Lewis went on to write the story everyone knew about. Up until that point, Jaune had thought Alyx had traded her brother to the Tree to go home, and subsequently wrote him out of the story. Meanwhile, Ruby is brought before the entity known has the Blacksmith, who reforges those that go through ascension. She offers up many weapons to Ruby, with Ruby reaching for her mothers weapon. She subsequently sees a vision of the night her mother went off on her last mission, revealing that she lied and it was a secret mission only Raven knew about. Shocked by this development, Ruby is presented with Crescent Rose once again. Realizing that she is enough as herself. She is reunited with her team, and they together beat the CC, who is removed from Neo using burning tree leaves. Jabberwalker clones subsequently kill the Cat(curtesy of Neo). Neo, bids RWBY a friendly farewell and jumps into the tree to ascend and become someone new. RWBY and Jaune step into the portal to go home, where they meet the Blacksmith and learn the origins of the Brothers. Jaune is restored to his former age as a last parting gift from Alyx, the only indication left of it being the light streak in his hair. The Blacksmith opens up another portal, sending them to WHEN they are needed most. They then walk through and return to Remnant, where they find themselves in Vacuo with a whole fleet of airships above the city. Meaning that Ruby’s call for help in volume 8 had worked after all. This volume felt like it functioned a lot like volume 6. As a transitional volume meant for character focus and lore expansion. Volume 10 hasn’t been greenlit yet, but CRWBY is feeling optimistic. Meanwhile, we have the RWBY/Justice League crossover coming out in two days.
I wish Rooster Teeth would re-upload this classic banger without the opening and closing logo thingy.
They released the scrapped epilogue which would've touched up on some characters we haven't seen in a while. Spoiler: Wtf why did salem attack vale, didn't seem like theres anything of interest. They're also gonna release a 4-episode miniseries that details what the side characters were up to while rwby was gone.
The epilogue or the miniseries, cuz the miniseries might just be me misunderstanding something I saw on reddit.
