What modifications have you done to your figures to fix design flaws or to enhance your experience. Here is my list. Group shot of my modified figures. Toyworld Longhaul. Added heal spurs. KFC blaster Added a door stop so the door doesn't open so far. Plus added a stop for the internal mechanism so it sits flat. Badcube Redalert Added weights to his feet. Extended heel spur. Added knee caps. MMC Grapple Removed excess plastic which prevented back half of vehicle mode tabbing in. Toyworld Thrust Cut down length of tab on wing for easier transformation. Also modified Takara flight stands to hold Toyworld d coneheads. MMC Kickback Added some yellow plastic to fill in gap at the top of the chest. Plus glued hands in out position. (they still fit inside the chest) Voodoo Ratchet Removed hip ratchets and made it a friction joint. Cut off piece of plastic where his backpack rests to allow it to tab in. THF Soundwave The spring in the door was sticking up causing cassettes to not sit flat, so I melted it in to the plastic to make it flush. MakeToys Inferno Swapped on the spare head I got with MMC Grapple. MP Tracks Removed a piece of plastic from the backpack armature to allow it to sit lower. Toyworld Scrapper Added a hinged panel to lock his thighs in place in combined mode. Added piece of plastic under his crotch to lock his hips in place in combined mode. MP Ironhide Replaced hip skirts. Also, I have painted various figures light piped dead looking eyes.
I've only been collecting MP TF for about a year and a half, so far I've only installed the Shadow Fisher upgrade kits to Ironhide and Ratchet. Bought the Shadow Fisher light up Shockwave head for MP-29, but not installed since I'm more of a display collector than a tinker/player collector. I'm wanting the custom 3-D printed neck upgrade for TE-01, but too many things pulling at the wallet. I really need to purchase the upgrade kit for my OS Gravity Builder/Devastator. But this is something I really love and appreciate about the TF community, it's like a house of ideas where we inspire one another in different ways and come up with ways to make improvements. I just recently added Reprolabels (Toyhax) Autobot and Decepticon symbols for the first time to my 3P figures. I'm pleased with the results, makes a meaningful difference IMO.
This looks like a fun thread. Here is one I just happen to have on my desk, I sanded down the tab *blue arrow* slightly at the top so that it would properly fit into the tab hole *red arrow*. This applies to every use of this mold so far.
I've done a few minor repairs to some KO figures. The usual: shave down Sideswipe's peg so it fits, stuff like that. I did the leg mod for the old MP3 seeker mold on my Skywarp. Other than that, I've installed the hip upgrades on my Ratchet and Ironhide, installed KFC hands on Ratchet, Ironhide, Downbeat (Ironhide hands), Savant (Ratchet hands with 3d printed adapters), Magnus, the OSKO Grimlock (Delta Magnus hands with 3d printed adapters), MP10, and I feel like there were a few more but I can't remember. Also added as set of RG Gundam hands to Azalea so she'd have articulated hands (they're similar in articulation to seeker hands but with a wrist flexor). I think that's about it for me.
Yeah the knee ratchets on mine are ridiculously tight, like get out the needle nose pliers to move tight.
Mine were completely immobile. I removed about 2/3 of the ratchets in the knees (the ones on either side. I removed the white pieces) and now his knees are maybe a little loose but they can now at least move.
Mine: The first pic was a stock pic of MP-01, while the last pic came out a bit more "orangy" than normal. I really need to re-photograph that one. But this gets the basic idea across.
Not really getting the point of this thread. The main Radicons section is to showcase projects both WIP and complete, as well as modifications, which is basically what's going on here except in a running thread.
