Did Toy Dojo ever get these in? I preordered this back in Dec and it's now sold out. Haven't gotten a request payment email from them either.

 

Yay dug Meg out of storage. Fusion cannon clips on and fits about the same as the official. The back cover... is completely useless. Even after clipping off the tabs as shown in ShowZ's video, it's not an exact fit and sits super-crooked. I'd take pics, but I'm pretty worn out.

 

Yeah they are noticably soft and flexible. Mine both stand fine though. Be interesting to see if the legs bend over time and that stability changes.

ModFans Add on Fusion Cannon for MP-36 Megatron

 

Hmm guess my preorder never went through. 

 

I just got my order today (from rub fulfilled by show.z) its pretty neat. At first I thought I had a dud but seems the batteries have to sit just perfect to get going. I have the English version and was going through it with my son and haven't heard a repeat phrase which is cool.

Does sound a little "tinny" but really, so did the stock one, and at least now I can understand what he is saying xD

Just got back from vacation and this was sitting on my desk! Really dig the cannon clips; didnt sound too tinny IMO, and has much more catch phrases. My IT has 4 clicks on the cannon: 1) cannon sound 2) chinese VA 3) English VA 4) transformation sound. The modfans has 2) english VA 3) additional english VA. Ended up using it for my IT megs.

The backplate tho... doesnt fit on Tak Megs. It does fit fine on IT Megs, which i'm assuming this backplate were upgrades for probably KO Megs and not Tak megs.

ShowZ has in their description that modifications needed to be done for the backplate to get it to fit...

i havent looked into it yet, but has anyone modded theirs to fit tak megs?

 

The mod seems simple enough. Clip and file down the two vertical pegs on the bottom, and trim away a little on the edges of the horizontal peg. The video I saw said to also sand down the the top sides a bit to allow for better clearance. I haven't done the mod yet. I like the gun but the color is off compared to takara megs and the gun doesnt sit right on his arm (maybe I'm doing something wrong).

Or more than likely, the thing was just designed for the IT Megs. In which case I'll probably be selling my MP36 (which I love but could use the cash at the moment).

Exactly. Let's just be glad no pins on the figure have to be removed. On one hand some people say they hate partsforming but on the other hand they're upset this upgrade part won't fit TT MP36 without modding.

 

IMO it makes no sense business wise to design these pieces to only fit with the IT ko and then to sell them individually in a set.
But if I can do the mod and it fits my THF ko I'll be happy I got a backplate to cover that messy back.

 

yeah, its weird if it only fits the IT considering that the IT already comes with one? but i bought the upgrade mostly for the cannon so i'm happy regardless. I just thought that it was a direct fit for the TT was all.

 

Toy dojo has a very good video showing where the mods need to take place on the back plate. More than what the ModFans video shows.

 

Everything was made from the IT-01 mold, which is slightly larger than MP36. So even the cannon won't fit perfectly. It was a design based on bad info.

 

It was marketed as an mp36 upgrade kit. I'm not too mad over 25 bucks. But still.

 

I am pissed about it, as I bought it specifically for the backplate.

 

Same, I double down on my purchase, but 50 dollars is chump change to discover who not to shop from moving forward. Not salty about it. No biggie, just a lessons learned.
