It doesn't bother me so much on his arm, but I think if I ever transformed him, it would definitely be irksome to see just the barrel black and his other "black" parts in the charcoal grey.

There are only 2 screws that hold it together, one of them was not screwed in properly, like it wasn't aligned when they put the screw in, so the side of it was sticking out. A very obvious assembly error-- trust me, you won't have to look for it haha.

Thx I feel like a derp on not to open it because of it looking like the red one on the package. I was thinking if I had open it they might had not take it back.I went ahead and open it and it's purple so i'm happy with my purchase.

 

What’s the chances of being able to simply transfer the purple led and English chip into the Takara canon?

 

The Takara one is glued in place so it's a bit more complicated than just unscrewing it

 

The quality of the speakers on this is underwhelming. Some of the audio seems to sound too sharp. The one that came with MP-36 is much better.
I wonder if I can muffle the speakers to make it sound better.

So I still haven’t got mine...should I be worried? Shipped from showZ store on the 21st via EMS. Last update was “customs inspection” on the 25th

 

I have a friend that hasn't gotten theirs yet either. Give it a week or two.

I got batteries for mine. It sounds like ass. All tinny and sharp. The fusion cannon sounds okay, and the purple LED, so there it shall stay.

 

Sounds like ass just make me think....well nevermind. That would be a funny sound chip. "Prime....pull my finger. Mwahahahah! I can't believe you fell for that."

 

Yeah it doesn't sound the greatest but it's Frank Welker, and most other toys collectibles with a voice feature sound much much worse, and some of these are big brand names. I honestly didn't expect much, but happy with what we got nonetheless.

Aaaaand I need to dig Megs out of storage to put this on him and compare voice quality. Also need to mod the back piece since I have the official MP-36. Also also, Kremzeeks!!!

What kind of shipping did you choose?

 

Just put the batteries in mine. The light is very cool, great to finally have a Megatron with a purple cannon effect.
Most of the sound clips are decent enough quality I think. One or two are really tinny - "I'll crush you with my bare hands" in particular is almost unintelligible. But there are a fair number of them. The transformation sounds are excellent and the cannon sound is good. It sounds just like the toon, given the dodgy speakers.
I think it's just a really crappy speaker.
I pulled it apart and it looks like a fairly basic setup - couple of switches, an led, a speaker and a sound card. The wider end of the canon that covers the speaker simply slides off of mine but even without that on I don't hear much difference in the sound clips.
Looks like a 19mm speaker. I use larger (28mm) speakers in custom lightsaber builds and they sound a thousand times better than this. But they're a fair bit bigger than this and way too big to fit in the cannon. I may see if I can pick up a better 19mm speaker online. Failing that, I could always wire it up to a nice 28mm speaker, run some wires under the arm and have it on his back or something...LOL
As a test I think I'll desolder the existing speaker, and wire up one of the 28m ones just to get an idea of how much difference that would make.
I do like the two little Kremzeeks that came with it.
I don't have my IT Megatron yet so it's hard to say what the colour matching will be like, but the supplied back panel looks like unpainted plastic? The finish on the cannon looks decent though.

Unfortunately, the two Kremzeeks are a softer plastic than the ones that came with IT-01. I find them more difficult to stand on their own because the legs are not rigid enough and want to bend under their own weight..
