I love that when they count "7 years since the last new Gundam tv series," they clearly aren't counting Build Fighters garbage, which did have a new tv series more recently than that. I agree with them that Build Fighters should not be counted.

On the bad side, the "younger audiences" thing makes it sound like it could be another AGE.

I don't get the 7 years thing either considering we have had NT, Origin, Hathaway's Flash, and other Gundam projects in that time frame.

I also am confused when I see people like, "I hope it's an AU series as we haven't had one of those since IBO," as if IBO is really that long ago.

They said tv series. Iron Blooded Orphans was the last tv series, which started 7 years ago (hard to believe it's already been that long). What I don't get is why they count from the beginning of Orphans' run, rather than from the final episode.

That would make sense that it's been that long as I watched every Gundam series back in 2016 and IBO was nearing completion when I caught up.

I do agree about them advertising it from when it premiered rather than concluded though.

I wonder if this title could possibly mean a female protagonist.

Has Tomino said he'll never do a female protagonist?

Did Tomino do War in the Pocket? I mean, arguably the protags in that are the Cyclops team and not the girl who pilots the ALEX but still, how many other Gundams in UC have had female pilots and were the good guys (so no, Marida Cruz in Banshee doesn't count).

The protagonist in War in the Pocket is none of the pilots at all, but the kid. And no, Tomino didn't do that, nor does that have anything to do with any future plans he might have. I'm asking if he's ever made a statement in an interview or anything saying he's against female protagonists for some reason.

He isn't against female protagonists as such, it's just that the way he writes women is as a prop for various men. He speaks about this pretty often. He's also consistently horny on main about it. Don't get me wrong, I think he is an interesting dude and had, and maybe even still has, interesting things to say about mechanised warfare, modernity, fascism, &c.

Edit to add: he sounds like a complicated guy who is often horny on main but also a total lord who Credits women fans for a lot of his initial success ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Gundam Creator Sticks Up for Female Fanbase Amidst Gatekeeping Debate
