So for a few years, people have been linking me to the Obvious Plant Mobile Suit Garfield custom, since I'm a big Garfield fan. You can see it here if you're interested. I've always considered building it myself if it wasn't for the fact that I wasn't sure where the head came from. The body is an old Beast Wars toy, but the Garfield was a mystery to me. Recently it was pointed out that it's part of a Pez dispenser, and after doing a quick search on eBay, I found listings for both the Pez dispenser AND the Beast Wars toy with a missing head. This was a great find, because I like buying broken toys and "fixing" them, and since this figure was already missing its head it felt like I was defiling something valuable. This is what I ended up with when the items arrived: So the first thing I did was remove pieces of the Beast Wars figure that were in the way. Mainly, a wheel in his chest and what was left of the head's joint. Next I studied the figures, and decided the best way to attach Garfield was to cut the Pez in half, and add a slope at the bottom to help it fix into the mechanisms. Look away Garfield/Pez fans! Then I smothered the Pez in epoxy, aligned it to where I wanted it, and filled epoxy into the area between the two figures. I briefly took the chest off to do this, but didn't take any pictures. And there we are! One Mobile Suit Garfield! The only thing left to do is finish removing the "Optimal Optimus" from the chest, but I figure that can wait for now.
Nice! Reminds me of when I put the head from a Knex Wario figure onto a Titans Return Blaster body lol. Man I wish I had a pic of that...
