For me, I'll always try to stick to the initial 3P and may buy a 2nd copy of the KO if the price is right

But for FT, the pricing is getting ridiculous and I won't mind if someone is starting to KO FT

Hmmn, another thought I just had...
Given the recent crackdown on KO products, which mainly seems to be driven by official companies, is it a safer bet for these KO designers and factories to focus on unofficial third party product instead?
3P is already in a pretty shadey grey area, legally speaking, so it seems unlikely that a company like FansToys or XTransbots can bring any kind of legal pressure to bear on a KO.
Maybe the KO companies have decided to step back from knocking off official products for a while and decided to have a swing at the 3P market instead? Picking up some of those disgruntled FT supporters who missed out on Pre-orders or were priced out of the race, might be a pretty good business model.

There have been more 3p KO’s as of late, so could be the reason. BMB’s latest KO is of a 3p figure as well.

I do hope this thing turns out genuine. I went in on the second batch pre orders for FT Jetfire when they went up but a decent KO would be the kick in the arse needed to make groups check their pricing. My only concern is there keep being rumours about FT ko's and they never pan out. Hell I'd settle for a slightly upgraded Hasbro mould with a more premium finish for an MP Jetfire, really unhappy with FT10s price and mediocre articulation.

I hope it's real so I can buy and muse to myself "Man I sure am glad I didn't pay 4 to 600 dollars for this or I'd feel really dumb"

On topic. I dont believe this in the slightest. Then it wont be the first time I am wrong and it wont be the last ofc.

Regardless, bout time some KOed their stuff. The reasons have already been posted above.

KO the shit out of their everything, and perhaps they get their minds back.

Unfortunately, the IP and Trademarks for Robotech/Macross are a LOT more stringently defended than anything Transformers related. Harmony Gold (still) owns the licence and they are pretty litigious. It's generally understood that it's simply not worth it for a 3P company to take the risk.

I know we wouldn't be able to get a straight-up copy of the Valkyrie design, but I'd think someone could at least do an updated take on the Classics or Generations T30 designs with modernized engineering and poseability.

Hmmn, I'm not really a G1 or Hasbro toy guy (toon all the way for me) so I freely admit I'm probably talking out my a$$ here, but the Classics and Generations mould seems a lot more Skyfire than Jetfire to me.
The colour scheme is Skyfire, the bot mode is Skyfire with added guns and equipment hanging off it, it's really only in the alt mode where it hearkens back to the G1 toy.
A Toy based MP Jetfire is going to be a tough sell in MP.
Even if they get away with a sufficiently Veritch style alt mode, it's super hard to get the bot mode looking at all like the toy without getting sued, and they're left hoping people like the alt mode enough to ignore the bot mode?

Hmmn, maybe they could make a kind of "half-and-half" figure that looks Skyfire-ish in bot mode and has a sufficiently Jetfire-ish jet mode, and include a G1 Toy-style head and additional armour parts, and maybe aftermarket decals or stickers for the colour scheme? That might be a way to sneak a Skyfire-esque toy through and allow collectors to "JetFire" it up on their own? Similar to how Studio Cell packed the head and wings for their Unicron separately to try and sneak it past the "censors".
It's an interesting dilemma and offers the opportunity for some creative work-arounds.

Doesn't scratch my itch but hopefully, someone can figure something out for all those toy fans out there!

Funny you say that, I'm positive Newage are taking a KO company to court if they don't cancel their Seeker KO's.

You actually believe that Newage, someone who is essentially stealing designs, is going to court over that? :lol

That’s like selling a Unlicensed Batman picture and trying to sue that another person drew a very similar looking Batman. Surprise surprise, You don’t own Batman so you don’t have any ground to stand on. Nether does Newage. They Don’t own the seekers lol.
