A 2-3 year production cycle is actually pretty standard. The problem is that the leak was of the first version of the design, hence why it has felt like this is taking a long time. If it hadn't been leaked, we would have probably revealed it at the same time Planet X did. We've also held off on it because of that early 2020 Planet X tease. We don't actually want to compete with other companies, and since it hadn't entered the tooling process yet, we decided to take a wait and see approach. And it looks like that worked out in everyone's favor.

I don't think Planet X ever gave measurements for their IDW Grimlock?

If they're a smidge taller than FT Grinder in bot mode, then yes. :lol

except those who wanted it to scale with the rest of their MMC characters. Included pic that Optimus is 24 cm tal meaning grimlocks even taller and this optimus is already so much taller than Megatron :(

I don’t blame Planet X tho, MP market is basically the biggest market in transformers. I myself don’t understand why I’d buy a figure that big in a IDW design. Like I wouldn’t want to display it with any MP figures cause it’s a IDW design and hes leagues taller than any IDW lines but hey I know everyone loves this hobby differently. If MMC drops this project I guess nobody will get my money lol

Same. I still don't understand how MMC could honestly consider the Takara Big Powered set as competition for their Dai Atlas. That's like comparing a packet of crisps with a full roast dinner!

I will also buy both, same as Deathsaurus :D

Just a quick note, but GCreation and Generation Toy/Transformmission have IDW MP figures available.

The Optimus you showed goes with the similar MP sized Stealth Bomber Megatron, not with the chug scaled MMC Megatron. A larger Grimlock won't be too far off scale for an IDW MP collection.

I myself picked up the PX FOC G2 Grimlock and feel sated in my need for a large chug Grimlock.

If MMC had theirs out by now with a G2 repaint, I probably would have gone with that as I thoroughly enjoy MMC releases.

But they’re not really the same figures exactly since....

I also prefer the MTMTE/LL bot mode of Trux versus the Maximum Dinobots inspired Cacus, particularly the difference in the heads.

To clarify I only used that Optimus cause he’s the tallest thing I owned, lol.

While I guess it’s true both of those companies have a MP scaled IDW line, they both have all of what 2 figures released in the last 4 years? Meanwhile MMC has just continued to put out IDW figures. MMC IDW collectors just seem like a broader audience to appeal to.

Either way if PLANET X grimlock is as expensive as people are theorizing, I’m gonna have to wait on our boy, TRUX.

It actually also addresses the single biggest complaint about PX's FOC Grimlock, that it is too small. Maybe not the right way to address it, but it does.

my biggest complaint was I got one that had his left arm assembled backward. And I never could get a replacement because they sold out. The sword also had stress fractures straight out of the box. PX was cool at first with the other 4 dinos...but starting with triton and even Ratchet and Ironhide...they don't quite feel right. I'd much rather have a MMC version of grimlock. But now that looks to never happen. Won't be picking up a grimlock that towers over Starsaber.

Who's everyone? I think at this point, the general consensus is that MMC's design is the superior Bot mode, more likely to be in scale with the rest of the reformatted line of IDW inspired figures.

Most of us largely feel the same way on the MMC version of Deathsaurus, with respect to bot-mode.

That said, that isn't a challenge to somehow not make the figures transform to cut cost...:gen069:

Lol. I sincerely hope the present enthusiasm for a figure that is about to be released doesn't somehow negate the commitment to move forward with a figure that in my opinion doesn't quite compete in the aspect that matters to most: Scale with the rest of the MMC IDW inspired line.
