Sigh, I know MMC is just reissuing the jet/drilltank thing, but I always kinda hoped they'd opt to retool the hell out of him and make the official tank alt that was revealed later.

I'm still getting this reissue but I'd much rather someone else take a crack at Autobot Megatron.

Make him MP scale and everything.

Planet X should remake Megatron. Perhaps MMC got a whiff of Planet X's plans, and they are trying to get ahead of it?

Does it matter? To MMC fans, MMC stuff will always be the most IDW accurate. A jet? A drill? Who cares? It's accurate, darn it!!!!!

Even MMC's hardcore fans don't claim Tyrantron is accurate.

The moment the toy was revealed in full, there was all manner if discussion about how his cannons were oversized, or wondering where the jet alt-mode came from, and junk like that.

Stop coming into MMC threads with the express purpose of starting shit. Your schtick isn't fooling anybody.

I actually think the bot mode is ok but not great. His forearms are too long and he lacks double jointed elbows. And his obvious fusion canon is obviously too big. I’m actually looking at the flame toys model kit version of Autobot Megatron as an alternative... once it finally comes out of course.

To be fair though, MMC did design Tyrantron before Milne revealed that Megatron’s alt-mode was a tank. MMC’s Magic 8ball was probably broken.

It’s a cool figure with a plethora of options and accessories. I am excited to pick up the reissue.

Indeed, I'm very aware of this.

To be fair, MMC did kinda left-field their design, when they made him a flying cannon spaceship in homage to Super Megatron, rather than follow through with the obvious tank parts that Autobot Megatron was designed with.

Maybe in the future, MMC would revisit Tyrantron and give him Milne's version of the alt mode.

Man, I'd want a Kuro Kara Kiri version of Autobot Megatron. That would be my collection centerpiece.

Is it fair to say it's Milnes fault for keeping it a secret for some arbitrary reason?

Not entirely. The tank treads, shoulder flaps, and the like that are visible in robot mode all indicated that it was a tank.

Seemed pretty counterintuitive to give the character a jet mode.

Especially one that required a partsforming cannon. What kind of logic went into that? ‘Hey guys we’re making a figure of a character that specifically doesn’t use weapons, you know what we should do? Give him a weapon you have to keep with him if you want to transform him.’ Bleh

Awful, uninspired design (like most of Milne's alt modes). But not as awful as what MMC chose for their interpretation.

Honestly I'm surprised there was never a 4th party upgrade that consisted of the fusion cannon and the cockpit/chest/front treads that attach where the original fusion cannon attached, and in robot mode you partsform fold up and clip to the back for the treads on back look.

So much was pointing to "do a tank" a number of us laughed and called them out on it. Setting aside a Hardhead scheme would've been correct, it's also easy design-wise (seige and I think Iron Factory did it) that could have preserved the swappable parts they wanted AND work without the cannon.

Instead they leaned into a Silverbolt style for a semi deep cut homage... Is it weird I wish we had design diaries for the ones that don't nail it?

It gets even weirder when they then had to give the jet obvious tank part, like the asymmetric back cannon and the fact this is now a jet with tank threads for some weird reason.

I'd absolutely be into an IDW Megatron with a tank alt mode.

I agree. I'd love to see how one goes "Well he obviously becomes a tank. So Hommage Jet?"

I'll be surprised if this is not one of Planet X's future projects.

I need either an upgrade to give Tyrantron a decent alt mode, or an upgrade to make Iron Factory Tyrant into MTMTE Megs.
