I bought a used G1 set and the only real one I had an issue with was Incursus. I bought the reissue and have had no problem since, but I hope the reissue of Impetus fixes the head/neck joint that's on the G2 version. As it stands now, G1 Impetus' head falls off pretty easily.

 

The weak ratchets were only on the first release of the G1 set, specifically Onslaught. The reissues of the G1 set (I'm pretty sure beginning with the first reissue) has the stronger ratchets.

 

If onslaught is boxed as altmode, its the first.
The second release came in bot mode

 

This isn't true. This is a difference between the Asian and Western releases.

 

This is true from my experience of buying both in the US and Asian market.

 

@Destron1 is correct. With the exception of Volatus, the other 4 figures were released simultaneously in 2 types of packaging. Non window box was for the Asian market, window box for the rest of the world. Thats not to say that non window boxed figures couldn't be found outside of China - or vice versa.

Fifty fifty. They've already released some with better ratchets, and some replacements for old ones. So it depends if the previous owner was either lucky enough or invested enough to get a good copy. Though chances are if they're selling it there might be a problem. I'd just ask the seller.

 

My G2 set I bought off of Kevin Iaquinto should be here tomorrow. I'm pumped!

 

Pleased to have the G2 set together. Tolerances are better than my G1 set. I do notice that Swindle's leg is a couple mm longer than Brawl, so you have to unclip his ankle extender to collapse it down a bit for a symmetrical A stance. Had the same deal on my G1 set.

 

Are the rear cannon base panels for G2 Brawl installed on the wrong sides? There's camo detailing on one of them, but you can't see when the cannon plugged into the back of the tank. If the panels were swapped the camo would be on the outside and lines up with the camo on his toe.

Edit: The detailing on the top of the panels line up better flipped, too. Good news, they just pull out. Pull straight down and you can sawp them.

 

I love my G2 Assaultus set, but one thing kinda bothers me. Why are the head and shoulder cannons brown instead of black, like the feet and hands?
The original toy was black, so I don't understand the reasoning.
Oh well, love both Assaultus sets and can't wait to finish Maximus Pro.

 

It's more of a warm gunmetal, and the hands are the same color as the cannons and the head. It's the feet that are mismatched by being black.

 

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I guess in my office light the gunmetal looks more brown. Not a big deal, I just thought black would look more like the G2 toys.

 

It could be a necessity of the mold. I'm not sure if those parts are painted on the g2.

MMC, I'm begging you, please release Hot Spot last for your Protectobots. I watched my Assualtus's left arm fall to his side today, because the ratchet isn't strong enough to hold Blast-Off out to the side. And he as initially only two clicks up. The ratchet simply can't support the weight anymore. It's a replacement ratchet too, an don't get me wrong forward to back movement is still very strong but side to side is just shot now. So, please take your time play testing Hot Spot and make sure those ratchets can support the weight of finished products.

 

Agreed. Releasing the torso bot last is the best. You have all the limbs at that time and can check and test the torso bot for any issue that could affect stability or strength.
