I heard from BBTS that shipments of the G1 re-issues are due shortly, despite hearing that factory problems have everything delayed until after CNY at the earliest.

 

What is the purpose of this flap? It seems not needed for all three mode.

 

I think it just gives that extra bit of room to pull that part over the shoulder joint. Instead of forcing the plastic, they just made an extra panel. I guess.

@RVDA might be able to provide us with an actual answer.

 

Boy I hope the Ruination deco comes out soon, I want one to pair with Fans Hobby’s Archenemy and this is the only one that will scale without pants forming.

They can't release a Ruination repaint until they figure out a way to make the parts look more show accurate. The G1 Combaticons and RID Commandos look very different.

 

The combined mode looks near identical, and for most people like with the CW version or with G2 Assaultus that's enough, as Ruination was almost the inverse of Bruticus in that the combined mode had as much if not more screen time and personality than his components.

Plus MMC's already made Mega-Octane, they just painted him in Onslaught colours.

 

That would be nice but I really doubt they’ll do that, probably not enough budget for that. Unless there’s a 3p ruination I haven’t heard about I’ll probably have to settle for this.

 

Onslaught has the least amount of difference from the original toy, so he gets a pass as is, but the rest took a lot more liberties that they'll need a few remolded parts. This is MP scale after all.

 

It would take more than just a few remolded parts to have the individual bots looking like they did in the cartoon, you'd need a decent amount of retooling on them for where all the kibble ends up and their proportions. So with how the combined mode as is already almost looks spot on and MMC said they were doing repaints, not retools that could potentially just be brand new molds, then there might be some remolding on the sculpt but it's generally going to most likely be like how their G2 set turned out.

 

People often forget that Ruination has Armorhide’s turret on the back of the leg as was probably the intended direction. When the tank is turned that way the combined robot has a better center or balance, and the turret has cut space underneath to fit the back of Onslaught’s leg. Though I think almost every one can agree that Bruticus looks cooler with the turret on his knee, so it’s nice that prettt much all standard Bruticus default that way.

 

The reversed tank leg on the combined mode aside, the upgrade kit already does a passable job in replicating Ruination. Onslaught is fine, Vortex might need new forearm guns to give him boxy forearms, Swindle could pass if you reverse his torso, Blastoff needs a new chest plate and feet, and Brawl needs some way to get his treads behind his arms.

 

Everything's gone quiet on the G2 boxed set. Starting to think it won't be happening after all...

 

Isn't it CNY right now? And China is still doing pandemic safeguards as well.

 

Am looking to acquire this set and I have heard there are some problems related the ratchets on the 1st release. What exactly is the problem? Is it solved in the 2nd release?

 

The original release apparently didn't have good enough ratchets to remain stable when combined. Some video reviews featured showed how this can make the combiner unstable (hips and knees are important to not-falling-down). The better ratchets are in the G2 release and reportedly in the re-issues for the G1s that are incoming.

So in other words, if I buy a used G1 set, the ratchet will surely be weak?
