Thanks! I'm really happy with how it turned out and combined mode fits my toy tastes nicely. The extra + parts feel very nostalgic, I actually found a photo from 1988 of me with some of my transformers, and Onslaught was there. I definitely remembered him as a favourite!

The MMC set is a real hit so far, bring on the rest of the team to form Bruticus!

Thanks a lot! Yes, I think they look really good with these MP combiners, I sold off most of my (non combiny) MPs to go in on legends! 

 

IMO, this is the best looking, most screen accurate 3P MP Combaticon set to date. Just my luck, I know the moment I commit to getting it FT and XTB will drop their renders.

 

Then you'll have at least 2 sets of awesome Combaticons! I have all 3 and the upgrade set and this set really speaks to me so far, despite some inaccuracies and odd proportions. They're just really fun.

So if FT and/or XTB make pants-forming sets which look more accurate I'll likely double dip. Granted, the Combaticons are my favorite sub-team, so I might be biased.

 

I want a WWII OG Combaticon set so bad ... I wouldn’t even care if they didn’t combine to form Bruticus ...

 

I mean, if you have a good think about what to want you can definitely find what you want. I just want some sexy creative engineering and accuracy to the characters personality, all wrapped in the vision of the company. And MMC have been working well to create such a work. I’d like to wait to say how well that has been done across the set. But I think it’s gone pretty well.

Me too but I can't see Vortex & Blast Off being anything other than planes, which renders Blast Off's name redundant.

I don't think "redundant" is the word you're looking for. Anachronic, or an artifact, maybe. "Redundant" means repetitive or reiterative.

 

Redundant means unnecessary, not repetitive. But it seems it is often mistaken as repetitive. Even Google searches for 'Redundant' explain the difference between the two.

Anyway, I'm gonna stop here cos talking about semantics in a toy thread is redundant, and I don't wanna sound repetitive.  

 

So hypothetical WWII line-up - Blast off and Vortex are the Flying Fortress and a Navy Corsair - forget which is which, then you have Swindle in his true Willys form (Hound repaint?), Brawl as a Sherman and Onslaught as some type of mobile artillery/anti-aircraft piece??

 

Sounds good to me.
I love Blast Off as a space shuttle but have to say a version of him as a Flying Fortress/B-17 would be pretty amazing. And a well-done set of WWII Combaticons would be pretty much bought-on-sight for me.

I have kind of adopted the headcanon some people have of Jet Blast Off's name being Take Off, which does fit a plane.

There's no such thing as too many Combaticons! *looks over at my overflowing Combaticon shelves, coughs* Nope!

 

Onslaught is a half-track:

 

Had a transform of Incursus into torso form. I absolutely love it. The creative interlocking is a smart and stable result that never feels too overloaded with its locking-ness. The waist swivel switch is really smart, even though I kinda wish that was the default waist swivel. But the leg locking and foot expansion is so neat. Every tap and hole has a purpose, and it definitely doesn’t make me worry about him relying on his normal robot knees. I can’t obviously get him standing but I tried our the joints and they’re also equally secure. Very keen to have the full set.
