Maketoys was very small, like CHUG size and not very reminiscent of the Stormbringer designs, which was a shame. I totally get that they are not exactly a hot release like the Combaticons though, thank you for answering!

So is diaclone from all the way back, ages ago, to the last century, in the late 1970s and early 1980s? Never heard of them.

At the risk of derailing. Diaclone and Microchange are the two most important toy lines for what would become Transformers, but they're not Transformers themselves.

Robots and transforming robots were popular in Japan. In the very late 70's and early 80's there were multiple toy lines with this concept: Diaclone, Microchange, Beetras....and the best known, Macross that became Robotech in the rest of the world. Takara had attempted to sell their Diaclone lines outside of Japan, but with little succes. Most (if not all) of these toyslines shared a common concept: they were human operated mechs fighting off some alien invasion.

Hasbro then bough the rights from Takara to use the Diaclone and Microchange moulds and turned them into a new toyline, Transformers. A series about sentient alien robots that turned into vehicles and things. For the story and characters they commissioned Marvel Comics where Jim Shooter wrote the base story and Bob Budiansky came up with almost all the names and personalities (that were then published by Marvel in Transformers Universe) and which were then in shortened version used on the toys and the Sunbow cartoon.

The Pre-Transformers on the tf wiki has some base information. And a couple of years ago SF debris posted a detailed video about the History of the Transformers

Some fun videos that go into this history:

I love Michael Mercer's playlist that goes pretty in depth into all 4 seasons.

A more broad dive into the history of G1:

The documentary series "The Toys that Made Us" have an episode dedicated to Transformers as well.

I really hope they decide to go with the comic colour scheme because those red chunks really do help to break up the sea of silver from the concept art.

I'd take any excuse to have another Nova Prime so absolutely yes. Do up a wingy backpack and a snap on chest plate and boom.

We already got a Nova prime. MMC reformatted has yet to redo the same character.

Who cares? They original Nova is one of MMC's worst pieces. Let them do a fun redo, with a mold 90% made for their character.

WELL THERE’S ALWAYS A TIME FOR FIRSTS

On a serious note, it shouldn’t matter that they’ve yet to do that. This mold is amazing and clearly sells well. I’d love the addition of wings like @Josh mentioned, but personally I don’t even need that to be satisfied, a white repaint homage with a Nova head would suffice for me; and it wouldn’t cost much I’d imagine. I’ve stated my stance many times in MMC threads that the reformatted Nova Prime is outdated and not that great anymore, it has not held up well. The tiny-face-inside-large-helmet vibe it has still looks terrible. The coolest part about it is the wings. I’m also tired of Nova Prime figures that are combiners with armor, utterly tired of it—I want actual, dedicated Nova figures. Or, at least ones without combiner parts.
By that logic, they shouldn’t even be doing Stormbringer Optimus bc they already have Optus Pexus in the reformatted line

Well let's hope they do make a nova prime 2.0, along with cyclonus 2.0, and Whirl 2.0

AC2D296A-BB29-4910-8042-2DDED11E1E89.jpeg Looks like some stock momentarily popped in at Planet Steel Express.

I was able to add SG Optus to my cart and check out. Fingers crossed.

The only thing that irks me about the remold is that the large cannon attachments don't look like they have a solid attachment point. The guns appear to float on the back. Those tabs on the original wheel covers did not do a very good job with the smaller guns with my copy, and adding more weight doesn't sound like a good idea. Hope they account for this in tolerances and tooling.

Isn't Nova supposed to be made from combiner parts? At least, from Don's original concept art.

It did eventually become Nova, but it was suppose to be Cybertron (or some new version of) Optimus. The final Nova design just had the "Super Mode" just be his normal mode, and he never had a core bot in the comics.

Although for an accurate Nova Prime I could see some company making one who's core bot could double as an Energon Rodimus retool.
