He has a munch bigger knee bend. To me it looks like he is thrusting his crotch at her.

He does look a lot better than I originally would of thought even if he was standing straighter.

 

Oh I was just pointing out the size difference is nowhere near as extreme as you thought it was. Here's HR's previous photo of them standing a bit more straight.



Saltus is MP10 sized. And while some people will continue to bemoan this, him being as big as optimus was represented in the 86 film as I've previously gone over:



Arcee is implied to be either at or below his lower chest vent in multiple scenes. For whatever reason a lot of fans seem to only recall very specific shots from the film where springer was shorter or arcee taller as being "truer" to the size ratio of the characters but there was actually a significant variety of depictions in the film.

It was not at all immune to the same hilarious scaling inconsistency that was present in the tv show as the animators basically just drew characters better and gave them more frames but ah that scaling, still as random as ever.  

 

I won't continue to bemoan it. Seems I was wrong. Good. That means I don't have to replace my chug Springer either.

 

So are the faces swapable or is it just the two alternate heads?

 

For me it's not an issue of scale or relative size to other characters, it's just that 9-10" figures are bigger than what I tend to collect. 7-8" is kinda the max of what I typically buy and anything bigger is a major exception. I do really like Saltus' design though.

 

The 'problem' is that you are using the Movie as your main argument for the scale. We are discussing how Arcee scales relatively to Springer, so we should be looking at episodes where they had proper screentime together (rather than just 'being' in a scene together).

FFoD part 1 comes to mind and that's where it becomes immediately clear why for alot of us Springer and Arcee are nearly the same height. I can't make screenshots now, so here's a segment:

Anyways, my Hot Rod and Arcee are too small for both current and upcoming Springers, so I think I am just gonna let go of my hope for a s3 mp shelf (atleast for now).

 

Exactly. Really there’s nothing more to back about either since they’re for completely different results. Personally springer seems more like the pure eyes ripped charmer soi see him more as a bigger lad.

 

Well there’s the obvious point that Season three depicted Rodimus, Springer, Arcee etc as the same height? Yet Hot Rod grows significantly in height when he gets the matrix. That means that, prior to his upgrade in the movie, Hot Rod was a lot shorter than all the others he was hanging around with.
Season 3 messed up by making them all the same height I think by confusing Pre-matrix Hot Rod with post-matrix Rodimus.
That’s the question: was Arcee same height as Hot Rod or as Rodimus?

 

And here’s my answer, hot rod. Cause that just works for me.

 

And one is the most consistently, well-animated production in all of G1, and the other is fighting against a few other AKOM eps as being the most error-filled, off-model production in all of G1...

 

THIS. Why would ANYONE use FFOD as a _more legit visual reference?_ It was NOTORIOUSLY poorly drawn.

 

Five Faces of Darkness is one of the highlights of g1 to me. I have an animation-error version MP Hot Rod. In this nostalgia fuel hobby for adults, you guys want to argue my point - and I'll quote myself here:

I don't see how this invites all these replies trying to discount this is a 'valid' reference. I'm responding to Lazyaza's comment on how many fans seem to remember the scale differently and how using only the movie is 'problem' there. Yeah but you kind of are trying to win the argument. Saying we remembered something differently when it was more like this. And 3P is disagreeing with your scale decisions. I just wanna point that out. I don’t think anyone is more right or wrong here.

Haven’t been paying close attention, but every time I casually glance at this mofo I get scared AF by that mug ... Arcee would never holler at this ‘Hills Have Eyes’-looking creepazoid ...
