It's Saltus' sword. Both are based on the animated films sword design so they'll inevitably look similar.

Apache's has a green and broader guard compared to the narrower and grey one on mmc's and I believe the blade is longer and narrower on apache's too.

I hate that waist even more now that no one else is bothered by it...

What exactly is there to hate about it? I see nothing wrong with its shape, dimensions or detailing.

He just doesn't seem to like that there's no visual fillers when you use the ab crunch. But as I said earlier, that's not a problem unique to Saltus.

When he is bent over it looks like the ab joint does not go from his front belt to his back belt. It looks like it only goes halfway. MMC Tarn/ Thunderclash's ab joint goes all the way from the front to the back.

Are Ocular Max still using those "typewriter" hands for their figures? Hope not, they sucked. I haven't owned anything from them since Backdraft.

The Kultur mold hinges at the front in the exact same way, the designer just made sure a fill in block existed between the waist and upper torso that gets exposed when you hinge it but if you do hinge it all the way you will find their is still a gap at the back so it doesn't remain solid if you do. Yes Kultur handles it better but Kultur is also an entirely different toy with an entirely different torso structure and engineering requirements for his torso.

You can't expect universal standardization with this kind of thing when ab crunches themselves still aren't a super common feature of transformers in general and are difficult to implement and so still serve more as bonus' than anything else. If you look at at any transformer with them you'll find its supremely common for back gaps to be a factor of their implementation.

I really like the 2 alt modes and the bot mode and I'm good with the size and especially with his crotch. ;)  But his faces still bug me, they still look wrong to me. The best one seems to be the toy face. And then there are his feet....they look really small. o_O  Idk if the time has already come for UT Allen. He is no perfect figure at all, but FT Apache didn't win me over and I don't know if this guy will do better. Maybe I should wait until XTB show more of their Springer.

I already decided a while ago that this would not be my Springer, but I'd like to throw out there that the yellow on the chest is wrong (according to the movie version, anyways). The three vertical bars should be yellow but the rest should be green.

Otherwise, a good looking figure. If I hadn't already pre-ordered Virtus I'd probably go in on this one.

I thought Springer did have a yellow chest

Anyway, even if he didn't have one in the cartoon, this line is supposed to influenced by Studio OX, who tended to include toy homages in their designs. And you know what? The toy did have a yellow chest :)

Well, they've missed out on the whole yellow section of the toy, then :p

I remember thinking the toy looked vastly different from the cartoon (and I could never get over those arms...).

But at least it's not as bad as this. No idea what was going on here:

Just been re-looking at some clips of the movie and the cartoon, and it looks like it *was* yellow. Seems the shots of it being green were errors.

    I stand corrected!

Man and takara's megs n prime are examples of it being done better than usual too haha. Even so - gaps a plenty.

Just kinda one of those sucky things we still run in to with plastic toys unfortunately. It certainly is an eyesore and hopefully something designers can find smarter solutions to in the coming years.

Eh. For me it’s one of those things you just tolerate ... at least up to a point. There are already ways around it, at least a little bit, but it tends to be a low priority for most companies. I rank it up there with using thigh cuts instead of universal joints for a leg swivel, and mitten hands over proper finger articulation - it shouldn’t be a thing anymore, esp on big boys like this, but it still is for tons of figures so I just accept it. As I heard on a podcast the other day, it’s a hill that’s not worth dying on in this battle - save the anger for bigger problems.
Ironically MMC Springer does the gappy waist and the mid-thigh cut for rotation AND mitten hands. Kind of a bummer but certainly not unique in that. Thank god he has paint though or else I’d have to call for him to be burned at the stake!!!
But I was never in for this guy anyway. He’s okay but there are other options I pefer more.

Looks good! The face looks a bit too wide from the front, but it looks perfectly fine from pretty much all other angles. Alt. modes look great, and I love that ab crunch. Color me interested.

What's the problem of having an "unique" opinion?!
