Great to see that this is still happening.

 

I'll be keeping an eye on him and XTB's Springer. I didn't like Apache and the other Springers didn't do much for me either.

His only weak area so far seems to be his face. The detail seems soft/blurred.

 

The one with more ratchets wins! But I like more how this one looks!

 

The alt modes look very nice.

 

Yeah I'm digging the car mode, it would look even better if they gave him large tail fins for it, maybe even detachable ones.

 

I was just about to buy Openplay's Big Spring. Now I'm not so sure.

 

Hmmm, too bad the dude isn't doing a basic A stance in bot mode. I think it's hard to see if the bot mode looks good based off the new videos and pics so far shared. Azalea looks pretty damn good though.

 

A shame you can't see his bot mode better in the new pics but all in all, the build and feel of this guy in the legs and torso is much more like Springer's toon self than the FT version, IMO (one of my least fave looking bots from FT, actually, for likeness, second only to Tesla.)

I have FT Apache but I'd be tempted to switch out, for sure.

 

Looks good, I do really like what i am seing, and would say it will probably be second best in terms of looks. But i think the XTB will be the one to beat if they can maintain high quality such as their stunticons. Will need to see articulation too though, i think MMC has double jointed elbows. So It may be that even if MMC wont look as good as the XTB, that they may still be the better product if they also have super high quality with no hickups and the articulation is superior, and some optional face expressions always helps too.

The rest is okay. A decent second place to XTB efforts at this stage. Nice to know there’s another option if Virtus fails to please in someway.

 

This looks better than all others imo, but I also didn't want a totally toon version but something that updated things to fully realize the style in the alt modes, and the robot mode cleans up and looks good.
I can live with the face... it's definitely a little different, but in a collection where tons of robots can look to have the same face, a little deviation from the norm is fine with me. He looks friendlier than the average bot, and that I think that's fine given springer was the chill dude in the battle, cracking jokes while still putting himself into the middle of combat.

That car mode though. What a badass sci fi vehicle. Blows all other versions outa the water simply based on what looks aesthetically pleasing (and not toon accuracy).

 

Apparently he's coming with two faces. One toon based one toy based like Backdraft did.

Not sure if we've seen both or just the one so far.

 

I can't wait for this one. Apache has one foot out the door already. Well, maybe not. More like Apache is ready to join the 'misfits' shelf.

 

Looks good but those knee gaps are pretty gappy. But not many bots can do squats like that.
This thing looks 75% die cast. I might be in even though I have the DX9 Allen and OpenSpring ones.

 

Only when you use the lower leg joint is the inner segment of it so exposed. Way the knee piece is designed most of that gap is covered up when its up straight and you just use the upper knee joint.

And you can see how much diecast he has in previous photos, its just the outer chest panel, the main thigh pieces and the toes. That's about 35% of the figure.

 

Is MMC making Saltus in scale with Azalea (with scale being not two heads taller)?

 

Technically any height ratio difference between an arcee and springer toy of 1 to 3 heads is completely valid and would be "in scale". Their are shots of them all over that range in both the movie and series.

In mmc's case Azalea is 7inches and Saltus is 9.2. So they went for the same ratio FT did with their figures pretty much.

 

Three heads? Never seen that (not counting all the various wacky scenes in s3). I'm not one to start a discussion on scale, but this is how I remember them, scalewise (the first picture I found via a google search actually):




But oh well, I'm sure MMC and FT know more about the actual scale than I do. So guess I gotta accept these options or wait for Takara (by that time, I'm old and senile and probabely don't care either way about the size) .
