    Begun the Devastator Wars has

Probably my favorite announcement yesterday. I really liked MMC’s Bruticus/Combaticons as their Protectobots are shaping up quite nicely. They should be able to knock Devastator out of the park

    My bold prediction:

This will be the end all be all of Devastators. The vehicle modes will be downscaled cad models from CAT. The robots will have stepped straight out of the cartoon. The combiner will be accurate to the cartoon down to clean forearms and a transforming head to match that one shot in season one.

I actually cancelled my PO for Scrapper and Long Haul from XTB through showz....

I know it might be a while for even a render, but I'm done with XTB and being disappointed. Unless they release a Computron or Predaking....

The cartoon models for the Constructicons were derived from their Diaclone box art. It explains their proportions and elements like Long Haul’s black arms.

Considering the pace of their releases I am guessing 5 years to complete defensor and devastator.

I’d be surprised if defensor wasn’t complete by christmas next year. Then probably three, maybe four for Devvy

Mmm, maybe. But defensor went through a major overhaul, primarily on hotspot iirc. It ended up being “the most complicated” design he had ever done, in speaking with @griffith76 a few months back (sorry, we don’t talk tfs much when we do).
Hopefully they can avoid that and stick closer to the pace of bruticus, which seemed a shorter time span. I could ask him what they have in mind but you know things always change, so I’d hate to give information that did so. One of the reasons they don’t really post on their own. I tagged him if we wants to give any info :)

Except for Long Haul most likely, probably similar to why Onslaught was long for the all-in-one.

Also if the combined isn't for whatever reason going to be animation accurate, the "treads as arms" look would be a really cool alternative.
[IMG][IMG] (Prowl upgrade kit would also be sweet)

Interesting. You forgot to mention stability and playability factor.

I am interested in hearing predictions for scale. Will these be scaled in robot mode? Alt mode? Both? Will Devy scale with their Defensor and Bruticus? Should he be taller or smaller?

This is Mastermind, those are assumed.

I assume the Constructicons will be on par with the other sets of limbs. That would hopefully make Devvy about a head taller than the other.

Let's hope so, if only so we can kill this oversaturated MP Devy market once and for all.

I love the Devastation models, so I wouldn't complain if Long Haul was beefed up a bit. Kind of fits his personality, being someone who's big, buff, and itching to get in a fight, only to be relegated to carrying stuff.

I would bet this one, because I don't think the Vectron one will come out at all. (I actually won't be surprised if they release a bot or two, but I will be surprised if they finish all six. Because whether they're nefarious scammers or not, they don't seem super competent, and from what we've heard have no experience... and what they're trying to do is really hard!)

And personally? Never needing to think about the Vectron one again is one of my favorite things about this announcement!

(I mean, I will. Because sometimes you need a hit of pointless drama. But I'll never have to.)

My three biggest loves in an MP transformer are an intuitive and fun transformation, cartoon accuracy, and integration of parts like combiner parts, shoulder cannons, and other accessories.

Based on MMC’s previous efforts, I think they’ll nail everything except possibly the cartoon accuracy, but if they’re done well enough they’d end up being my Constructicons for sure.

MakeToys Reflector is the least accurate option on the market, but they still live in my collection because of the lens integration. I was hoping X-Transbots would do an all-in-one, but it’s not looking likely. MMC’s crazy work with Defensor makes me hopeful!

Devastator wars have been going on for 12 years and counting, ever since TFC Hercules and Maketoys Giant kickstarted the full-on 3rd-party combiner craze... one of the earliest and longest stories in the history of 3rd parties!

    1636709C-EA1E-44EB-9EA1-03F690081C5E.jpeg

I still remember waiting for news and seeing that epic Hercules prototype come together one member at a time. There had never been anything like it, and I still like its modernized CHUG aesthetic more than some of the recent efforts.

I'm glad so many people have been suggesting tread forearms for MMC's fully-integrated Devy, since that was one of my favourite design choices on TFC's. Would be nice if MMC's possibly definitive effort carries a bit of Hercules's legacy.

I'm ok with Long Haul being a little bulkier. Just as long as he's not as dumpy as the Hasbro one.
