I hope I'll be able to try combined mode this weekend and have a look at it myself. It's true that sometimes things give a different impression in persona rather than from pictures, especially when posed.

Making the thighs smaller would make even less room for the combiner feet to fold into, and the feet already are a smidge small. Would make less room for the leg support armatures too. I'm sure this is the best "ratio" that could be done, for thighs vs still having room for feet+armatures.

I guess at this point we’re probably waiting until Tfcon Toronto before we get to see a mockup/tease for Ignis-A

probably. we do have a mockup from earlier but I don’t think we’ve seen any of the alternate parts aside from maybe the combined head

to be clear this is a digibash @LazyAza did no idea how closely this will resemble the final product

    yeah I vaguely remembered that

thinking I might skip the rest of the toy set but pick up Ignis. absolutely wouldn’t one bit mind having a second Ignis around to mess with

Got my Ignis last night, played around with him today. I'm curious: in combined-mode, if you choose to use the collar, is there anything that connects the upper and lower torso together in the back? The robot arms turn into the sides of the torso, and provide some structural support on the sides of the torso, near the front. The robot chest plate turns into the belly, and the Defensor chestplate kiiiinda plugs into it (though with tiny tabs, feels more for just keeping panels from popping apart than for providing structural support). In the back, though, there really isn't anything rigid. You can press on the back of the top of the torso, and it'll spring down a tiny bit. Did miss anything, or is that just how it is?

The arms on the side of the torso are perfectly fine for the combined torso as it is now, but I'm just wondering if putting the combiner arms in and leaving the toy that way will provide enough weight over time that a lack of a rigid back would be a problem. But, I'm definitely not an engineer, so maybe I'm just worried about nothing.

I'm reasonably confident that not using the collar gives little to no additional structural support; the weight of the combine mode limbs is fully supported by Ignis' shoulders, which are fully supported by Ignis' arms locked into the torso. Make sure to lock in the flat rotating clips into the back of Ignis' arms of course.

Not using the collar gives two additonal "locking" points: the tabs at the top (which only provide marginal support, and are "replaced" by the T-tab of the collar), and the foldout tabs that the large shoulder panels snap into (which have no replacement when using the collar.

In both configurations those large panels peg securely onto those red warning lights.

I'm not worried at all; only those scary long pegs into the legs that were changed from the preview mold, whilst much improved, still feel like they might not hold up over time now that I've flipped him back and forth 4 or 5 times the last two days.

@LazyAza , did by any chance "the boss" let you know if the toy version of Navigant got that top orange changed?
Only the front section in botmode.

I think you suggested the change, but im wondering if it went through!

Oh it can take weeks or months for changes like that to go through and often you won't see them applied until the final toy. I already double checked and he said the factory would make sure the roof panel was white too so hopefully that's sorted when he hits production.

I think it's: "I have summoned you here, for a tent and purpose."

It might be fun to use stop motion to recreate some of the more stylized combination scenes like from Headmasters.
