I think I agree with the style you like ( FYI Takara isn’t full toon usually) I have the Takara non+ line myself. I also agree that figures like sunstreaker who has a licensed model for an alt mode but a toon bot mode is an amazing and sophisticated looking figure- which is my point. While MMC Streetwise has the colour better (that’s my opinion) and Fuzz looks very different depending on what other colours are around him. And MMC Streetwise has a near perfect head sculpt but the alt mode looks too toon. My collection (my opinion) is to have as close to a licences alt mode and a relatively toon bot mode (ex Sunstreaker)
Paint and a real world alt mode, makes a masterpiece figure. I skipped on Takara Grapple and Inferno because the alt modes. Also skipped Fanstoys Jazz and mirage and the Brawn / Outback due to the toon alt mode. But I really like the Fans toys Powerglide due to that stunning A10 alt mode.

Lol I own Fuzz and still don’t know what colour it is. The lighting and backgrounds as well as other figures near him make his colour go from a brown/reddish hue to a white/beige colour. I think he’s a chameleon. That said I love the choice MMC took on this. Also Groove will have the proper silver / metallic arms and not a random blue colour ( I just can’t stop my Jocund blue arms from bothering me no matter how much I want to like it)

To be honest I don’t really care about toy or toon look or whatever. I don’t even care about scale (my collection is random and unfocused; I just buy what takes my fancy).

One thing I’ll always appreciate is good engineering, and the transformation of these figures is superb. It’s a absolute pleasure to convert these MMC combiners into all three modes.

Maybe it's stress of the holiday season, maybe it's other things, maybe it's nothing. Maybe my response was a little bit harsh.

In general, folks who come across as "I know how to play with my toys better than you" rub me the wrong way and feel like it's a play at being smugly superior. Maybe Paptimus really didn't mean it that way, but considering I was just trying to help out with the color comparison shot and not entering a display piece into an accuracy contest that's how it felt to me. Even such, I'm under a bit of stress right now with life things and probably took more offense than was necessary.

"It's a two step transformer that I've had since I was 7...of course I realize that. How dumb do you think I am?" :lol

I like the colour break-up of that one more, but I do like the light grey of the one we got.

I've always been very torn on these MMC combiners. I love the approach to playability, but aesthetically they are not quite what I want. I'm still very tempted to jump in on one of these though.

That’s my feeling as well on the colors. I liked the deco of the original toy more than that of the cartoon. I wish MMC didn’t take quite such an animation-leaning approach, but otherwise their designs are so good that I can’t help but include their figures in my collection. They’re one of my favorite 3Ps.

My overall opinion of Streetwise, as well as the rest of the MMC Combiner bots so far, is that they all have their minor flaws (whether they’re in the decos, proportions or whatever else) but the many pros far out weigh any of those cons (imo, of course).

I’m not really one to nitpick though. I look for figures that intrigue me or fit a particular place in my collection. Sometimes it’s simply that I like the overall look of a figure. Sometimes it’s an intuitive transformation that isn't necessarily easy but fun and fluid. Sometimes it’s not all that great of a figure but it fits a spot in my collection. Or it has some crazy alt mode that would be interesting to have for no other reason than it’ll be the only ice-cream truck in my collection...*cough* ROTF Skids&Mudflap *cough*

Either way, I say enjoy what you want but don’t sweat the details. It’s nigh on impossible for everyone to be 100% happy with a figure. So just enjoy what you DO like about any given figure. Focus on those goods things because chances are there are more good things than bad things. Specially if it’s a figure that you’ve purchased or are quite interested in purchasing.

Anyway enough of that. My Streetwise is in Canada, if the recent snow doesn’t hamper things too drastically, I figure I should have him in my hands before the New Year.

Having recieved him today, my first impressions are not that positive, to me he feels like a step down from Medicus, the joints are very tight, what i do like is the head sculpt, i need to play with him some more, and ofcourse transform him, but he doesnt give me wow feelings like medicus did when i had it in hand the first time

Apparently he’s a bit mistransformed straight out of the box, so if you haven’t transformed him yet, you may want to fix up those little bits to get the full appreciation. And ya I remember my Medicus was super stiff at first but after a few transformations he’s loosened up enough to be smooth but not actually loose.

Probably underestimated this by at least 2 years, given that it's optimistic to think MMC finishes before 2024. (Never mind the next combiner after that).

My (tangential) contribution to the discourse: I don't care that much about paint, but it'd make me happy to see any 3P company put out decos with more tampos. In the case of G1 characters, more tampos to simulate some of the sticker details on the original figures.

I thought it was pretty cool when OX put a ton of tampos on Sphinx's (and Terraegis Rally's) alt modes. It'd be nice to see something like that again on future products.

I had a tiny bit of that feeling, but I chalk it up to him just not being as bulky as Medicus, since he doesn't need to supply a hand and an elbow joint for the combiner. I do still love him, but yeah, he doesn't feel as DENSE as Medicus, which I think was a big part of Medicus's wow factor.

Thank you so much for this. Had I not seen this before trying to adjust the bumper parts, I would've missed the support bars, (which were, as predicted, folded down). He also had the arm panels the wrong way when I opened him, so that helped as well. I really appreciate it!

I got mr wise and I like him. Articulation isn't amazing but if that's the cost of the transformation and combination doing what they do, I can live with it.

I know the grey is toon accurate and it looks fine on the bot but its a bit of a weird color on the car. Looks like someone primed it and forgot to paint it, especially with just the tiny little star as the only police livery.

While it's metallic, "light pewter" seems to be a decent match, and may have been what Takara was originally going for:

Hmmm no... The full toon aesthetics is trying to emulate the looks of a kid's cartoon, sorry... That's what it is... If you like it great, I do too, but I am not fooling myself into thinking otherwise... There is a reason you don't see fully G1 designs on the big screen if the movies are aimed to a general audience (Bayverse)

I believe the see police cars were a flat paint back in the 80s. I think Streetwise is pretty close.
