I really enjoy the transformation, the sculpt, the tidiness of the design, and the feel of the materials and engineering. It’s one of those figures that looks nice in photos but is even more impressive in hand.

He is just a really well executed, solid figure. Looks terrific in both modes. It's pleasant to transform. All the transformation and articulation joints are nice and solid. Nothing is loose or floppy. Any third party company typically gives you one or more of these qualities on a given figure, but these days it's the exception rather than the rule for a single figure to pull all of that off. Fans Toys, for example, usually excels on all the things I listed but has a transformation that isn't fun. The exceptions where FT pulls off a good transformation are usually their best figures, because they typically nail everything else.

XTB usually nails the look but gives you a figure with some floppy joints or panels or parts that don't lock together solidly. And more often than not a bad transformation.

Plus a lot of times the individual members of combiner teams, most of all the limb bots of Scramble City era combiners, are treated as nameless and faceless entities whose primary purpose is to be limbs. MMC's First Aid, as was largely the case with their Combaticons, really feels like a character of his own that would be worth having even if you weren't buying the whole team.

MMC First Aid really is the whole package.

"Mostly white..?" is clearly not claiming to be "exactly what shade". Even with the dirt, it's much whiter than the greys shown earlier, which was the point. Sorry for trying to help.

Transformers always seemed to be the exception when it came to collectable figures for robots of a similar vintage. Other characters from that era tend to have their own slightly implausible conversions (like Voltron, Daimos, Ideon, etc) and the current collector's toys offer options for "perfect transformation" and show accuracy. The main difference is Transformers has far more characters. It's harder to manage when there are most Autobots and Decepticons in season 1 alone than several Gundam shows put together. I understand MMC focusing on their angle, but for instance a Bandai Soul of Chogokin figure would offer multiple display options.

I pulled my Defensor out of the display case and I have to say that MMC seems to have nailed it.

As well as, you know, most collectors in-general here and especially in Japan.

Wouldn't be getting the new Toon MPs dominating the market if that wasn't the case, and yeah I think the Hybrid 3Ps/MPs look far more like "toys" while the new ones look far closer to what one would consider "collectors items", although the more use of paint and/or the near decade's worth of more advanced engineering definitely helps.

If the Sunbow aesthetic is all that qualifies for “collector” status, then I’m happy to settle with just buying toys.

Streetwise was often a soft grey in the animation, so we made him that color because it looks nicer. His original toy was a soft off white, which he had sometimes in the animation too but Makoto wanted the colder tone for his design and I preferred it too, so we stuck with that in the end.

Here's a mockup comparison of what the color differences would be like in Navigant's versions if we did all three:

    navigantcolorver.png

XTB's Fuzz has so many photos showing their color choice looking both ok and disgusting so I can't say I know whether I like it unless I had him in hand myself.

I will say with beige plastics/paints in particular its ideal to keep them as pale as possible on robot and car toys because the closer you get to those pinker human skin tones the more gross it will look on a non humanoid toy.

I like the light grey but have long since planned to paint the rear spoiler black, the feet red, and the head crest to match the body.

My "ultimate" Streetwise would basically be toon-grey (and red head-accents) but all the toy's alt-mode extra apps---black bumpers, black spoiler, etc. Red waist is good, too.

    Red feet---good either way.

Basically---give me ALL the paint apps. Toon+toy combined. The toy had basically an unpainted head, so the toon is clearly better there IMHO.

I would, but I’ve stopped caring. Don’t understand why we have to come and complain about this stuff when it’s just toys. Why do we feel the need to criticize people over toys? Can’t we just buy stuff we like instead of complaining about stuff we don’t like? But I’m speaking to the void here. I’m not expecting anyone to agree with me here.

Your First Aid/right arm is mistransformed, so it is shorter than the left/Blades one… That and you’re supposed to open the front part of the alt mode (though I never did it either). I suppose you’ve lost the belt and torso parts ? Ir perhaps you try to get close to the All-in-one approach?
I still think Defensor was the best looking combiner of the scramble city bunch. Well, it was the one I got as a child, so I’ve always had a soft spot for him.
By the way, this MMC set looks spectacular until now.

    Seriously?

I had him on my desk using it as a guide for creating custom stickers for Medicus. I plugged it back into the combiner purely for the sake of the picture. And then immediately pulled him back out where he's needed.

Hence, I don't really care if I forgot to pull the back out for the sake of a quick color comparison photo.

And yes, I lost those parts years ago and haven't felt the desire to pay $30-50 to replace them. Not that it's any of your business.

Seriously, it’s mistransformed. I was just pointing this, not trying to offend you. It seems what I said did rub you the wrong way. That wasn’t the intent.
