Fuzz is the only figure I’ve ever sold simply because I hated it.

Noticed a bunch of folks aren't flipping the bumper halves on Navigant to correctly sit vertically in his ab.

The easy to miss part of how it works is the bumper has its own hinge that is tighter than the one the hood panel is on. You need to straighten the hood before you can flip the bumper down and fold the two halves the right way.

    navback.jpg

This way his ab is filled in as intended:

    navab.jpg

While I'm at it another easy thing to overlook is the support bars inside his chest that help solidify his upper body. Don't forget those.

    navinches.jpg

It's highly likely neither of these things will be done out of the box as quite often toys aren't fully correctly transformed in their packages so check to make sure.

You might also have his forearm fenders facing the wrong way. They flip around on a forward axis. Curved side faces the fist in bot mode, the shoulder in car/leg mode.

Ugh, is Fuzz that brownish in person, or is it just the HDR settings on my monitor screwing with the image? Regardless, Navigant's colors look a lot better.

Fans Toys' Rouge. I transformed her once for pictures, then back to robot for display. But every time I looked at her on the shelf I'd get angry all over again at how shitty that transformation was.

Correct me if I’m wrong but if you take a “full toon masterpiece ” figure next to a hybrid of real world meets toon. And show both to someone who has no knowledge of transformers. The “full toon” looks like a kids toy and the other looks like a collectable figure. That doesn’t mean liking “full toon” is bad/childish but it does equate to a less sophisticated looking display. And that’s fine if it’s what you’re going for. But I don’t think little Dutch was being trying to insult you but stating a point in difference of display options. One Looks more like a child’s toy (not that collecting it makes anyone childish- but rather the toy looks childish) and one looks more like an adult collectable.

Transformers by nature look like a kids line. I get why the debate is here, but in the scheme of things in comparison to other robot lines, Transformer just looks like kid stuff.

Fair point for bot mode - but alt mode can definitely look like a model of whatever it is intended to be. And it should shine through to the bot mode too. I think of masterpiece prowl and (not the plus version). Or the new Xtb Dante mold.

Yeah, it is definitely tan. I much prefer MMC's off-white.

I agree with this. As long as someone is making a subjective comment about the figure and not the collector, then it’s fair game and shouldn’t be taken as an insult. I’ve had many negative adjectives thrown at my preferred aesthetic, but I don’t take it personally. People like different things, and it’s okay to state why you find something unappealing.

I recall saying a particular figure had a “deco by Crayola” and someone took it as an insult to interested collectors for having childish tastes. I only meant that the colors and matte finish of the toy reminded me of the waxy crayons that Crayola makes— figuring everyone could relate to and understand the comparison.

But even to go as far as saying the toon aesthetic is “childish” and a more realistically-detailed one “mature” isn’t in itself insulting anyone. I enjoy plenty of things that would be fairly described as “childish”, but I don’t see that as a reflection on my character. Taking offense doesn’t mean there’s offense given— it often suggests insecurity that gives rise to a defensive response.

The best rules of thumb here are “like what you like” and “to each their own”. I don’t need the reassurance of others to appreciate and respect my own preferences, and I never expect anyone to agree with me. It’s fine if they do, but it’s just as interesting if they don’t.

This pic just demonstrates to me how bad XTB is with colours.

You are definitely wrong. Many of us consider the full toon look (if it is properly sculpted with subtle chamfers and curves in the right places like TT does) to be the highly desirable collectible and the hybrid style with all the greebles looks like a Hasbro mainline kids toy. I have a full toon collection and the people I have shown it to that are not collectors are amazed at how much the figures look like the toon and yet can still transform.

Your opinion may be different which means you aren’t actually wrong. But you made it sound like you were stating facts and they are opinions. And you also asked to be corrected if you were wrong. So I went with that.

Anyone else had an issue with navigants windshield having a space at the top, preventing the front piece of his torso remaining flush when you tab it in at the stomach?

I don't think it's indicative of how XTB is categorically bad with color. I'd need to pull out my original toy for comparison (which itself may have yellowed somewhat since 1986), but I don't really think it was the very light grey that MMC has chosen for Navigant, either. I don't think the original was as warm of an off-white that XTB made Fuzz, though-- they went a bit too far with the color saturation. MMC took a more neutral approach. Colors like this are especially difficult to match, as anyone who has tried to touch up their supposedly "white" walls can attest to.

Regardless, my preference for Streetwise is definitely the color of Navigant.

This just sounds like nonsensical ranting over hurt feelings, and a desperate attempt to point fingers at someone who can be designated as “wrong”. If we’re not all adults here, we should at least act like it.

Seriously— consider that these are plastic figures representing either:

    (a) modern versions of children’s toys from the ‘80s, or
    (b) physical interpretations of characters from a children’s cartoon from the ‘80s.

Note the correlation? This is the stuff of children being enjoyed by adults. So, call it childish or mature, but we’re all in the same boat here.

Toon Streetwise is a whole lot grey-er than the toy. The toy is BARELY grey. The toon is clearly grey. MMC went with toon grey, because the whole set is quite toon-based regarding decoration.

I am normally very pro-toy-colors overall, but for Streetwise---definitely toon-grey.

I'm usually anti-toon and prefer stylized or toy deco, but I agree here. Navigant's color is much better.

I kind of remember the G1 toy looking like it was sun-damaged fresh out of the package back in the day.

I saw alot of likes for the 1st member that released, as in top toy of the year.

Genuinely wondering why. What makes him so special on its own vs other MP figures released this year? Is he really good as a standalone?

Havent really been following the MP figures that much this year.
