Wonder if she will be six-changer. IDW really messed up with MMC. First no alternate mode for Megatron and only sketchs for Nickel.
Honestly, the same could be said of Boba Fett. I think their appeal is that they have fun, unique designs and are generally shown to be badasses. The fact that fans got excited about them isn't surprising - they were a set of new, scary and fairly alien designs that were refreshing in a franchise that usually trots out the same three bad dudes with the same design cues over and over (Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream). I think Nickel's supposed to present a sense of irony insofar as she appears to be cute, but screams, cusses and generally behaves in a manner that belies her appearance. I don't know if she's useless, but she definitely seemed shoehorned in at the last minute to give the DJD some kind of identity, which brings me to the last bit: As far as personality is concerned, I've never figured out why some of the Roberts characters get a lot of top billing/development (i.e. Rung) and yet others like Tesarus, Helex and the like get barely anything. However, in making the DJD the Decepticon Bogeymen, there's a certain level of unfamiliarity we were supposed to have. After all, the known is rarely scary. Ultimately, I feel that they were slightly overexposed to be horrible monsters, but spectacularly underexposed to be reoccurring villains. I found their reoccurring appearances fun, but their deaths were really cheap after all that buildup. Ultimately, they were presented as a group we'd eventually get to know... and then all died in like 2-3 books. Boo.
You probably meant that Megatron's alt mode was not revealed till after MMC finalized the design for Tyrantron.
Ha! Was, as in past issues. I certainly hope she'll be back in some capacity. I have this fantasy where she is able to revive/save Kaon and they head out in search of their 'pet'.
We've already seen the Cover that shows Megatron's alt mode. That's also one reason why we've seen the tank fan modes for Tyrantron.
Holy crap. #seriousshelfgoals I know Helex and Tesaurus have zero personality, but they have the potential to be amazing toys.
That cover was a whole new level of artistic license, supposedly not remotely similar to Milne's vision for him.
Looks pretty cool. Don't know much about her personally, but always nice to see new figures being issued...
Could be. He wasn't blasted by Megatron and she is a skilled medic, so perhaps with some Roberts magic that might happen.
Yes. It just does not make sense for me to not show his alt mode. I think Tesarus and Helex are the same story. Tesarus reveal his alt mode in Transformers Legends, but not Helex. So it is not easy for MMC and I really appreciate their skill to bring these characters.
There are postings of line art from Alex Milne pertaining to Helex and Tesarus that MMC will likely make use of.
Honestly they're pretty terrible characters but they're just so different from your typical transformers fare. What other bot turns into electric chairs or conveyor belt shredding machine with grabby arms? Their appeal is in how off the wall they are.
Tes and Helex's alts were shown when Milne sketched them out and those are what Byrin referenced but yes I don't think they've been shown in the actual comics at all still. A lot of IDW alts basically have to be interpreted or made up by our designers because of this. Calidus' ended up so nice because the comic had a nice clear shot of what it looked like very early on in the story and Cassy was able to base his design around that.
