Detail tends to disappear in color models. Or rather I should say that detail is overtly apparent in the grey-scale runs/renders. This is my Predaking. I bet this bitch won't even fit on one detolf shelf.

I agree, the details seem a bit much... but since we're on the "comic book" metaphore... I compare this to lineart, which can often look way too busy by itself. Once colored I'm sure it will all come together and take a lot of the focus off all the little details.

No need to be sorry, While I think MMC engineering is far superior, holy cow that is detail run amuck. I like both UT and MMC but would love to see MMC mute or pull back on some of the extraneous detail. Those thighs are getting into Generations/United Frenzy Rumble territory! Haha.

Seeing those side by side pics of both interpretations of Divebomb just reinforce exactly why I'm getting both of these bad boys. One to slam together and have as my displayed Predaking, the other to keep as my individual bots. Worked pretty well with Hercules and Giant.

 

well if u want to get technical g1 divebomb refers to alt mode as an eagle. some references call it a falcon. unless u are specifically saying MMCs version is a turkey vulture then in which case the bird head is not overly small.

I'm going MMC all the way. I agree the bird head needs some better proportions, if possible, though.

 

The first thought I has when I saw the alt mode head was, "Hey it's PE Laserbeak."


That said, even thought I am not a fan of the Eagle/Falcon head on the MMC version, it will never be in alt mode anyway.

 

A California Condor has a similarly small head.

Looks great. Hopefully this one has a more attractive arm mode than War Hawk. Don't know what it is about War Hawk's arm mode that looks off to me though.

These are going to look perfect on my classics shelf.

 

I might be alone here but I love the detail of MMC figs. Some of it will be lost in the color and paint apps. Look at Hexatron's original prototypes then the color version. The color version looks beautiful and a lot less overwhelming with detail.

I really don't see the Eagle's head being small. I see the wings being Huge in a good way. The sheer size of the wings makes the head look somewhat small. Let's see a G1 Divebomb with Crazy Devy's wings. lol

I think MMC was trying stylize their Fericicons more like the Predaking artwork out there with huge wing. I think they found a great middle ground. I'm all in for their Predaking.
