That's the best transforming Sunbow Grimlock I've ever seen.

 

My faith has been restored, that painted version looks really really good!

 

Now to await a version with more bot head options, ie one that has Red eyes... so sad no one could tell them that in the feedbacks, only the screw hole.

Whatever, hope they do a Toy version next, WITHOUT the damn "tampons" stickers. Would be cool if they could somehow include the head from SG and Comic for it too, dont care about most accessories but head options / sword / gun / crown (in that order)

 

Without the tampos it wouldn't be a toy version. It'd just be a non-toon version which I'd also be down for, though I'd want the greeblies back for that version. I find this guy frustrating in general because they made positive changes and negative changes to the same figure. But I guess ultimately it doesn't matter all that much to me - I've got Newage's figure and I'm not going to buy another slightly improved version of the same figure, so I guess they can do whatever they want and I won't worry about it.

 

okay so they got rid of the obnoxious screw, but did they also ditch the transparent neck and chest pieces too? i hope not cuz i was excited for those being included and that would suck as i wanted those swapped in.

I like most of the improvements they've made and it's cool that they've listened to feedback and removed the screw, but there are some things that look worse than the original (which is still ok given that it's a sample)

- Nubs on the shoulders

- Colour mismatch


- This weird red dot on the forehead

 

That red on the robot head is from the animation model.

 

This is probably the most G1-cartoon looking toy I've ever seen. It's great for how close it comes

I’m serenely anticipating the clear parts as well, I have to assume they Fallon with the other “unpainted” accessories. Maybe not ooeinted in smokey clear yet.

whoa that's looking really good. but i'm surprised that it's painted that metallic grey given that they have been emphasizing toon accuracy. would have thought they would have went with a flat grey like the originsl NA. the metallic grey looks similar to the NA toy colour and i'm pleased with that.

glad they kept the optional clear neck and chest pieces, but wish they were smoked.

think i'll be picking up at least two copies of this, maybe even three pending pricing. i'd also would buy extras if those updated dino arms were sold separately.  

 

Well, that looks pretty fantastic! Probably gonna grab one as a desk toy.

Only thing that’s really missing is a rotatable chest piece to hide the Autobot symbol in beast mode.

 

It looks great! I did not expect metallic grey... but it is fine tone.

on Baba it says ~35USD + shipping which is great for what have been presented here.

I dont get it...

Very nice Painted grey body / nice black-yellow-red bits / nice accessories, but...

same none visible eye color as original... Like am i the only one who cares that eyes be visible? It almost looks like an all black head. Had they done it a light blue or metallic light blue, and given the important also visible metallic red eyes head for bot mode, it would have been perfect. As is, it is suffering from the thing i dislike the most on my original figure and keep it in Dino mode for that reason.

Edit: seems like it is also missing open hands, and would have been nice to include 1 finger pointing too, instead of all the extra accessories other than Guns / Swords / Crown.

I guess it misses the boat for me as is. Maybe a future repaint.

 

yeah the clear pieces is kind of a bummer. but smoking them is easy enough. i just wish that was a step that i would have to do.

i wonder if they will be doing a full on MFT like metallic version of this soon.

 

i'll be probably painting the bot eyes a lighter metallic blue when i get this.

i'll also try to hit the dino arms and tail with metallic silver, and maybe the yellow sections on this KO with some gold paint.

personally i'm happy we're getting ALL the NA accessories included. it sucked that NA decided to include/exclude the two variation of blasters and swords between the different decos. it sucked my EX didn't come with the double barrel gun and the flame as a blast effect for the dino. the mind control, drink platter and fish i could pass on though.

as for the hands, yeah it would have been nice. but i can always use the ones that came with my NA EX and SG. i've also been sharing hands between different NA releases if they plug in and are compatible.

there's a smoked chest upgrade available which i've already ordered. also clear and yellow. i wish there was also a neck upgrade made.

if you do smoke your clear bits, pls share your result and process.
