I think the same would had happened to me, OB showed in stock then limited stock. Luckily they pull the pick up/online orders from the floor shelf and not from the store room and I was able to snag them as the came out to be stocked.
I literally saw that happen in real time that morning. Popfindr showed stock of 3, Target.com had two available for reserve and by the time I checked again a minute or two later, gone. I have a set coming today so I wasn’t too nonplussed about it, but it’s crazy how they basically got cleaned out before they even opened.
