So today I picked up a Beast Wars Transmetal Optimal Optimus which appears to be MISB.The only issue it has is that the tape on the bottom of the box is not sealed any more(the top is fine).Everything inside the box is fresh from the factory with all the twist ties still intact.

I plan on trying to sell it so I just want to be clear on how I should list it.Is it considered MISB,or is it considered MIB because of the broken tape on the bottom of the box?

I think soon as a seal is broken, you can't call it MISB. Sucks, but if you list it that way and someone buys it, they would probably have a legit eBay/PayPal complaint against you. I suppose you could list it that way and clarifying the description, in which case I don't know who the burden falls on if the buyer is unhappy because he was expecting a fully sealed toy. A buyer is responsible for reading an entire listing description, but you are also responsible for not misrepresenting the item.

You can state in the description that item has never been removed from the box but you are listing it as MIB because the tape at the bottom has become unsealed due to age.

That's the way to go. As a seller it does suck, but as a buyer I love it since it saved me $10 off a G2 Dreadwing at Botcon 06.

Yep, you've pretty much gotten your answers here.

I would add with things like G1 items, the box may be opened, but the bubble on the card may still be sealed. It's still "MiB", but the subset would be MiB, sealed on card.

Once that tape is unsealed, it's not "MiSB" anymore, since the acronym means "Mint in Sealed Box". It may be be mint, and it may be in a box, but it ain't sealed anymore.

MIB Unused does sound a lot better than just plain ol' MIB.Sucks that a single little piece of tape can affect it that much.Oh well.

    Thanks for the input.

I have all the BW cast misb. I guess a couple of mine would be mib unused as well since over time, the tape has come off the package. The tape used on the smaller boxed characters ie TM Optimus Primal, Inferno, Scorponok & TM Megatron wasn't very good. Really small, thin pieces of tape on mine.
