My wife & I just started watching that. Seen it sitting on Netflix for a while & she always says how no one ever has cat guys in their shows. It's always cat women being slinky & seductive. So when we saw their was a cat dude in the show, we kinda had to check it out. First ep, "Stormy Weather," was alright, but didn't even try to set the stage for the characters or explain what was going on. We felt like we had missed an episode. So we scanned through the season & found a 2-part origin story. Watched that one tonight instead (it'a episode 22!), and it went much better. They actually explained what all these things were & what was going on! I wonder if those weren't the real first episodes, & the network bumped them to nearly the end of the season for some reason when the show got dubbed & brought over. Seen it before with TF: Cybertron & some others. Anyway, it's a cute show. A decent mix of the magical girl & superhero genres. Having seen only 2 eps so far, I'd say it's average. We'll prob check out a little more to see if it can hook us the way Voltron recently did (tall order).
Is this that thinf thats clogging the girls toy isles? My Target always has a shit ton of toys for it.
No, it was structured that way over in France, too. I don't know why. To be honest, the original French is better than the English dub, if for no other reason than the absence of words/phrases like "evilize." But yeah, the whole first season is basically your standard Saturday morning cartoon. There's not much plot, it's an average superhero show that's fun to watch from time to time. I guess they want to move forward with a more story oriented second season and break out of the status quo, but as it is... Most likely. I've seen them, they don't look that impressive. It's kind of odd they'd only be in the girl's aisle, though, since the show itself targets a general audience of kids, both boys and girls, and the toys aren't even design like the usual "girl's dolls."
Oh man, we had a good laugh when he said, "evilize." I can't believe I forgot to mention that. And in the origin episode- that teacher has no control over her classroom. I guess status quo, episodic adventures are ok to establish the show, but it will be interesting to see them get more story oriented.
The main protaganist is the girl right? Thats why. In America a boy can't like a girl-lead show and vice versa.
Been watching this show with my sister. Animation's VERY nice, and while the plot's pretty simplistic, it's still rather enjoyable.
i am a bit curious about this show, i have seen advertisements and toys all over the place. i am glad netflix finally has it. i may check it out at some point.
I've been pretty addicted to this show ever since I came across it randomly one evening. It's pretty neat, not anything groundbreaking, but I still enjoy it quite a bit.
I do think it's funny how LB & CN know right away that a giant stone monster is really a kid from school because of his voice, but they still can't figure out each other's identities. It's kind of hilarious. And yeah- the animation is pretty gorgeous. Lots of fluid movement everywhere. But more than that- remember how everyone was upset that Jasper, Nevada was a ghost town in TF: Prime? Or how New York was largely empty most of the time in TMNT? Well Paris, France is full of life in this show. Lots of people walking around, plenty of kids in the school to make it seem full, lots of traffic on the streets, & a wide assortment of character models. You can tell they pumped a lot of money into this show. So that's cool.
I dig Ladybug. It may not bring anything too unique and different but it's harmless and it has a lot to like about it. Season 2 sounds like it'll bring in some new Miraculous users and stuff which is cool.
We just finished the ep with the Pidgeon Man, & totally called it- Adrien's dad is Hawk Moth. They haven't revealed it in the show yet, but it's the same voice & face minus the mask. Hadn't picked up on it before because you barely see the guy. But then in this ep they showed Hawk Moth & then his dad a minute later. No mistaking it- same dude!
Spoiler The untransformed Hawk Moth silhouette from the Origin episode is also a dead ringer for Gabriel. Plus, he has a locket with a picture of Adrien's mom in it. It would be bigger plot twist for him not to be Hawk Moth.
Genuinely surprised no one's brought this up yet. I look forward to showing it to my ML-loving friends and seeing what happens.
...Yeah, actually, that's pretty accurate. I always just imagine Hawk Moth as Dr. Claw, though. "I'll get you Ladybug! NEXT TIME!"
Have they shown his mom anywhere in the show yet? And I'll have to check out that origin ep again. Stufff I wasn't looking for or didn't notice!
They show her portrait a few times. They don't usually draw attention to it if it's not relevant, though.
Just finished the ep, "Simon Says," and of course her pic is everywhere in it. Guess I just had to be a little patient.
