I'd wager that no actual Asians complained about this. Like most of these cases, it was probably some white, liberal politician and/or academic who decided that the name was offensive and should be changed. Because it doesn't matter if any member of the ethnic group in question was actually offended, the PC police know better, will decide what 'should' be offensive and are the only ones who can protect the poor oppressed, defenseless minorities.

 

Now that's just silly, maybe if it was the called the "Gook Carp" or "OhHerroPreaseChingChongPingPong Carp", then it would make sense, but it is literally a Carp from Asia.
I'd say "it's political correctness gone mad!" but 1) I can't stand the term, and 2) It's not even that because it's not even a potentially offensive name.
