    Folks,

I know this is minor news, but I thought I would pass it along. My local Wal-Mart store recently got in a Minicon 2-Pack sidecap. Each Sidecap has 2 of each of the first two waves of minicon sets. However, the package design of the sets on the side cap is altered. The cards have been shrunken side to side by about an inch, from their regular retail release. I think it improves the look of the package.

If this has been reported before, please delete it.

    Thanks,

    Karl

this makes sense because Wal-Mart has these positioned under or near the Scout class figures ... but the package is too wide and makes a mess when browsing.

This is news because there are people out there that are packaging collectors or varient collectors, such as Jon and Karl Hartman (you know, the guys that ran BotCon?). One of which, not surprisingly, is the originator of this thread.

Because it might be of interest to package collectors.

And we decide what is news here, not you.

You know, I was trying to be helpful. I thought some people might like to know there was a sleeeker package for the Mini-cons, in case they didn't get them the first time around, and might like a better looking package. Next time, I'll think twice about helping out.

Oh, and as a side note, it'll be just me lurking around from now on. Jon has, as of Monday, officially retired from the TF Club Council, and officially retired from TFs as a whole.

I'm sorry if I offended you Karl. I just meant YAWN as a joke. I apologize. I'm also sorry to hear that Jon has moved on from collecting. You guys always put on a great show at the conventions. He'll be missed.

Thanks for the info Karl, I myself am a minicon fanatic. That sucks to hear Jon is retiring, why is he calling it quits from tfs altogether? Thanks again for the info.

Unlike some jerks, there are those of us who do appreciate the news. And I know of quite a few people who love variant packages and tr to collect as many as they can find.

Karl, pay no attention to the jerks who post "Why the f*** is this news..." etc... they obviously had nothing else better to do.

Regardless, I am interested as many other who have posted here are, can you get a photo? I haven't seen these at my local W-mart in NJ yet, but I am curious as to the look of it.

I saw the new packs today, they're the identical width of the other cybertron scout figures. Nothing is removed or heavily altered, just squished a bit closer together.

    Thanks for the news Karl.

I for one like hearing about variants (packaging or toys). I use to hunt for packaging variants during RID but with Armada and Energon changing packaging styles half way through the line I gave it up.
