OrionsBelt, first of all, my condolenses. Second of all, this story is awesome. It would be great if Bay would do like a Transformers 2.5, where it shows the events between ROTF and DOTM, and then the subsequent events during DOTM. It would actually be a great way to tie into TF4. Maybe there's something in the Rocky Mountains that is of interest to the 'Cons.
There is going to be something in the rocky mountains. I am using some liberty licenses to make this story click, but hey, that's what fanfiction is for!
And thanks you all! I haven't deserted you. I won't quit till Mikaela and Isabelle are back with Optimus, working on his arm!
Isabelle had a big grin on her face as she sat in the driver’s side of Sunstreaker’s disguise mode, despite her mother’s dismay. Sarah had wanted to go with Skids, since she was more familiar with him, but Sunstreaker needed him to go in the opposite direction to be used as a decoy. Isabelle was all for it, she loved meeting new Autobots, and learning as much as she could about them.
She noted he took on the disguise of a Lamborghini, and it seemed to suit his sharp style. She glanced over at her mother. “Are you sure you’re comfortable over there hon?” Sarah asked her daughter. She just felt uncomfortable with Isabelle sitting over there, her hands were just resting on the wheel, Sunstreaker was obviously doing all of the driving. She gave a little laugh. “Oh, I’m just great, it’s like old times again!” Sunstreaker butted in. “Like old times?” Isabelle brushed her brown hair out of her eyes. “Yeah, when I started to get to know Uncle Ironhide, when he would come out to the farm to hang out, he would always take me out for joy rides. I know how to drive thanks to him, I’m just too short to see over the steering wheel, or for my feet to reach the pedals.”
Sunstreaker kept on driving, listening to the Lennox girls. He never met them, but Optimus and Ironhide told him and Armorhide all about them. The little girl in particular, meant the world to Ironhide. He thought it was kind of funny. Ironhide didn’t think highly of the humans at first. He liked Sam, and respected the hell out of Lennox, Epps and Mikaela, but he didn’t think of them on personal terms till he started to know Isabelle. He was wary of Mrs. Lennox, and he could understand why, her blood pressure, pulse and other bodily functions showed that she didn’t entirely trust him right now, and she was nervous as hell that her daughter was so comfortable around the Autobots. But Isabelle, she gave him a reason to defend Earth, and to call it his new home. Sunstreaker started to wonder how in the world did the Decepticons get one up on Ironhide. “Are you absolutely sure Ironhide was killed before the Xanthium explosions?” His computer processors immediately told him that Isabelle was feeling distressed about the subject. Was it a wise thing to bring this up now. But Isabelle surprised him. She swallowed, and then he could feel her hands start to grip the steering wheel. They were damp from perspiration, and her breathing quickened. “Yes. It was over a day before the Autobots were even heading to Florida. Dad called, I didn’t hear anything, he talked to mom, but, I just knew something happened by the look on her face“ Sarah reached over to put a comforting hand on her daughter‘s arm. “Yeah, Will called and he just told me the attack on the base, and that Ironhide was killed during it. He was very worried and told me and Isabelle to get out of town real quick. He couldn’t explain why, but this was something we all were preparing for, so I guess, in a sense, we were ready.” Isabelle sighed. “But, there is something I need to ask you Sunstreaker, I just hope I don’t get into trouble because of it.”
“Go ahead, I highly doubt you’d say anything that will get you in trouble.” Isabelle sat back into the seat. He could feel Mrs. Lennox sigh. Apparently it was something important, and unsettling to the both of them. “Well, I was sleeping, before those cons attacked us, and I became aware of them because Ironhide spoke to me in my dream and warned me of them. Later on, he spoke to me again to alert me that the cons were tracking me via the credit card. Has this happened before? I know Sam was saying something like this happened to him, but it was those 13 Primes, and Ironhide was no Prime, right?.” Sunstreaker reeled all this in. “It’s been know to happen, Prime or not, but I never looked up on it. Perhaps it’s something we might be able to ask Optimus when we get to him eventually.” Isabelle and Sarah sat up rigid. “But Optimus was killed when the Xanthium blew up.” Sunstreaker realized he opened up a can of worms. “Yeah, I might as well spill the beans. Optimus knew something like this was going to happen, he had rigged the Xanthium so in case something like this did happen, they would all be in a protective vault on the ship so they would survive an attack on it. I’m pretty sure he’s alive, as well as the others that were on the ship. But that’s why I was sad to hear Ironhide was killed before the Xanthium, because then it would mean that it’s true.” Isabelle leaned forward and rested her forehead on the steering wheel. “I’m sorry about this too. I never got to say goodbye.” Sunstreaker could feel the saltine tears hit his wheel. He now understood why Ironhide protected this family so much, it’s because they were his family. He felt sad about the situation, and for the internal hurt of the little Lennox girl. She then sat back up, and lifted her chin. “So, how can you be so sure Optimus and the others are OK?” Sunstreaker swerved the winding road quietly. “I don’t, not yet, I’m assuming they are waiting for me to get to Colorado before they make their surprise attack.” Sarah was perplexed. “Surprise attack where?” Sunstreaker slowed down, drove off the highway and begun to drive down a dirt road. “I’m guessing you’d been too busy trying to get away from the Decepticons to listen to the news. The Decepticons have taken control of Chicago, and other significant cities throughout the whole world. I’m not too keen how or why, I never got together with Optimus to find out, but ground zero is definitely Chicago, and he’ll attack there. I’m thinking he was waiting for me and for the Bane party to make it to Site B.” Isabelle looked out the window. “Have you met Mikaela or Sam?” “No, I’ve just heard about them, like I’ve heard about you. They also have their own private detail, and they are driving up to Colorado escorted as well.” “OK, that’s all fine and dandy, but where are we going now, I noticed we drove off the main highway?” Isabelle asked. “While you guys got your site B, so do we, and I need to let Armorhide know about Ironhide.” Isabelle was already feeling a little uneasy with meeting this Armorhide. Ironhide never spoke of him, so she wondered, was it a bad thing or a good thing, but then again, he never said anything about Sunstreaker, and she already loved the guy.
Sarah seemed to mirror her daughter’s thoughts. “Is this Transformer going to be safe for us?” Sunstreaker’s dashboard lights flickered. “He’s a little rough around the edges, but he’s OK. You’ll be the first child human he’s met, and he does know about you because of Ironhide, he’ll share Ironhide’s enthusiasm towards you. It’s just, he is a bit like Sideswipe when he fights.” Isabelle warmed up to Sideswipe over time, but she was never on speaking terms. She just figured if he was good enough for Ironhide to put trust in, then he was good enough for her. But still, she kept her distance from the quick robot. It’s not that she didn’t trust him, it’s just he gave off this radiance that he could be reckless, and there were consequences with the recklessness. Sarah, though, was only vaguely familiar with Sideswipe, and didn’t know too much about him. “Come again on this Sideswipe. I met him, right?” She asked Isabelle. She nodded. “Yes, he’s the silver one that liked the swords. Imagine Sunstreaker, but as a silver Corvette, and slightly smaller.!” “Oh yeah, I remember him, Will told me to watch it around him. Is he dangerous?” “He doesn’t mean to be dangerous around the humans, it’s just when he’s going after a Decepticon, he tends to very focused on his target, and Sideswipe has been known to accidentally injure bystandards in pursuit. Armorhide is the same way. He doesn’t mean to hurt anyone, but he figures, you see something large coming at you, then get the hell out of the way. Really, I hate to say this, but they are kind of right, why do you humans just stand there to watch the carnage when you should be taking cover?” Isabelle laughed. “We’re stupid sometimes, what can I say? Have you ever watched Jackass?” Sarah looked sharply at her daughter. “Watch your language, and why are you watching that trash?” Isabelle sighed. “Mom, I’m being raised by Dad, he’s military, not exactly a square!” Sarah sighed. She shouldn’t be surprised, really, but still, her baby girl was only 8. Then, both girls became aware of Sunstreaker slowing down, and turn into a dark drive. It was pitch black still, the darkest part of the night before the dawn. “I take it, we’re at Site B for the Autobots?” Sarah asked. “Well, at least for the East Coast Autobots, there’s another one for the West Coast.” Isabelle piped in. “These are the spots for the Autobots that Optimus hidden from our Government?” Sunstreaker finally drove up to a gate, butted it with his nose and drove through. “Yes, and I’m not totally aware of all of the Autobots here. The only ones who truly knew were Optimus, Jazz and Ironhide.” He then stopped before what looked like an abandoned warehouse. Isabelle and Sarah knew better. They got out, and Sunstreaker transformed into his bot mode, and lead the way to the back bay doors. He pushed a button, and bright light from inside spilled out into the night. He held out his hand, motioning the Lennox girls to come inside.
Isabelle took in the site. The warehouse seemed to be built on top of a hill or mountain, because while they walked in, the driveway sloped downwards to three stories below. They walked alongside Sunstreaker as he made his way to the bottom of the building. The place was illuminated from computers, satellite images on screens, huge servers that were as tall as the building, scaffoldings that allowed for humans to talk to the larger Autobots at eye level, and in the middle of it all, was the first Transformer besides Sunstreaker that Isabelle spotted. It was no mistaking it, he was definitely Ironhide’s brother, Armorhide. He was maybe slightly taller, but he seemed broader than Ironhide was. He had his lion like face, blue eyes, but his color was a deep maroon. She tried to figure out what he transformed into, but it was difficult. She’d figure a military vehicle, or maybe even a small semi. He was big enough for a smaller Mack. Her eyes gazed around, and then she noticed someone she did recognize. “Jolt?”
Jolt turned around to see who had called him. “Oh, Bella, lovely little Bella, I am so glad you got out safe. I was so worried!” She walked closer. She felt her mother tug on her shirt, a little apprehensive. “Jolt, Dad and Uncle Epps told me you were killed.” Jolt shook his head. “No, close call though, and it took me a while to heal, but I’m alright. But, as you can see, my arm still needs some more time to heal!” He came over, bent down to look at the Lennox girls. “Well, I hope Sunstreaker filled you in about the Xanthium, I’m pretty sure much hope was lost that people think the Autobots are dead, but as you can see, it was just a stage.”
Sunstreaker came forward and stood next to Isabelle. “Unfortunately, I do come with some bad news you all. Everybody, please come forward. We do have a KIA before the Xanthium!” Isabelle then became aware that she and her mother were not the only humans in the warehouse. Two humans emerged. She recognized them. “Maggie and Glen?” Maggie smiled. “Awe, little Isabelle, you’re getting so big. Last I saw you, it was what, maybe a year ago?” She spoke in that cool accent of hers. Glen rubbed his hands, looking up at Sunstreaker. “So, who didn’t make the flight?” Sunstreaker gazed from Glen to Armorhide. He looked directly into the giant’s eyes. “Ironhide.”
Armorhide just stood still for a moment. The silence was deafening. He then took a step forward. Isabelle swore the entire foundation shook with that little step. “Are you sure?” He asked in a thunderous voice. Sunstreaker glanced at the Lennox girls. Isabelle’s breathing quickened as Armorhide looked at her. She was expecting him to explode. But instead, he softened his voice, the best he could. “Did you witness it?” Isabelle shook her head. Sarah came forward and stood in front of Isabelle. “My husband called. Will Lennox, and told me. He didn’t tell me how, or who, but, I doubt my husband is mistaken. He wouldn’t have just left Ironhide if there was nothing he could do.” She told this to the large Transformer with a soft voice. She herself was expecting him to start ripping things apart, but he seemed calm. “I take it, Skids exaggerated to you all about me?” Isabelle rolled her head in a yes and no answer, because Sunstreaker himself painted a conflicting picture of the massive machine. He came closer, and bent down. “Hmmm, I guess that makes two of us. I wasn’t too sure what to expect when meeting little Isabelle and the mother, but, because of Ironhide, I already hold you two dear to my heart.” Glen gawfed at this. “WHAT? Maggie and I come, and you made us as uncomfortable as you could, but then, you bend over backwards for them?” He was beside himself. “That’s because you’re not military, it’s a military thing!” Armorhide answered back.
“So.” Sarah started. “What’s the plan now, are we all going to go to Colorado?” Armorhide stood back up. “You and the other humans are, Sunstreaker will take you, Jolt and I were going to hold back in case there is trouble at Site B, but the original plan was to have Ironhide go with Sunstreaker, but since that's not going to happen,” Glen butted in. “We’re not staying here?” Sunstreaker shook his head. “No, that was never the plan. Once we got the signal, that’s the Xanthium blowing up, all valuable humans are to be escorted to Site B in Colorado. So, everybody, get your belongings, and get ready. Mrs. Lennox, you and your daughter are going to be with me. The original plan was going to be Ironhide and I was to take all of you, and Armorhide and Jolt stayed a few clicks back for cover, but obviously, we can’t do that." Armorhide spoke up again in a commanding voice." So, Maggie and Glen will go with Jolt, Lennox ladies with Sunstreaker, and I’ll still do my duty!”
With that plan laid out, Isabelle and Sarah got a quick dinner and some more food for the rest of the journey, and Glen and Maggie got some belongings together into their backpacks, and then they all jumped into their assigned Autobot, and made their way to Colorado, which now, since they were traveling by Autobot, Isabelle realized, they were going to get there in no time!
More more more more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isabelle started to look at Sunstreaker’s console as he sped along quietly on the road. He seemed to sense she was looking for something. “Can I help you, little lady?” He called out in a southern accent. She smiled. “I was hoping you would have some sort of radio, so I can chat with Maggie and Glen back there with Jolt. I’d like to know how they got into this mess.” Sarah laughed. “Does it matter, I just think it’s nice to see some friendly humans for once, no disrespect to you Sunstreak!” He gawfed in a deep voice. “None taken, but I’ll get them on, you just talk normally!” She watched as his radio lit up, and the digital dial moved quickly until it found it’s frequency. He then spoke himself. “Jolt party, can you hear me loud and clear?” Jolt spoke up in his deep, but quick to the point voice. “Yes, Sunny boy, we can hear you loud and clear.” Then Isabelle heard Glen over the radio. “What, is this line secure, I’ve seen my share of movies where/” He was cut off by Maggie’s electric Australian voice. “Glen, WE ARE NOT IN A MOVIE! Geeze, why do you start referring to movies to try and think of an outcome for our situations!” “Glen gave a heated sigh.
In Jolt’s cab, the tension was high, but fun, it usually was with these two, he always thought anyway. They were both polar opposites, but they also worked well off of each other, and because of this, the secret Autobots were able to keep on top of most things. When he himself discovered Shockwave what seemed long ago, he had no choice but to play dead. In that time, he learned of humans that were working in secret for the Decepticons. One in particular, he often heard the man’s voice, but he never met him. He was an American Colonel of some sort, but that’s all he really knew about this ghost operative. He also learned while scoping out Shockwave, that many Decepticons and their human comrades were going to start hunting down humans that were of actual help to the Autobots. As soon as the coast was clear, he had let out a distress signal, and Optimus Prime, Ironhide and Ratchet had shown up.
He was just lying there, in a heap. His legs were a mess, and he couldn’t feel one of his arms. He was pretty sure Shockwave’s pet had torn it off. He decided to let his electric beams to reside inside him, and sparkle. It gave off the image that his spark was destroyed, and the Decepticons had fallen for it, and retreated back to where ever they came from. Soon after, he could hear Optimus Prime’s baritone voice echo over the region. “Ratchet, can you pick up any readings?” Ratchet answered in his usual obvious air. “Of course, but this entire region is just screaming of energon readings!” Ironhide’s impatient gruff was welcoming. “Well then, we’ll just do it the old fashion way. “JOLT, WHERE IN THE HELL ARE YOU!” The sharp commanding tone shook Jolt to his core, and clumsily rolled over, sticking out an arm as high as he could reach, hoping that at least Optimus Prime could see him. He sure was tall enough to scope most of the area just standing where he was. Jolt was shocked to realize that he was so weak, he couldn’t even seem to mumble out a peep. He waved his arm as much as he could in the air. He was finally relieved when he heard Optimus Prime’s acknowledgment. “Ratchet, over there, I see him!” Jolt could feel the ground shake as all three large Autobots made their way towards him. Ratchet made his way to him first. “Hey there Jolt, hang on, we’ll get you back to NEST headquarters real quick” Jolt’s eyes flashed wide, and he waved his one arm in a no response, and then he pointed at his voice box.
Ratchet took an instrument and used it to look into Jolt’s throat. “Ratchet.” It was Ironhide’s voice. “You’ve been tinkering with that device ever since Bumblebee had his vocal chords damaged, what makes you think that you’re going to be able to help Jolt any better?” Ratchet looked menacing at Ironhide. Jolt knew the two went far back, and all three of these Autobots have been friends since the beginning of the war. Ratchet and Ironhide in particular, were very good friends, the best kind, that enjoyed bantering and egging each other on. Ratchet took Ironhide’s challenge at his technology in stride. “This thing has worked well in the past, if you must know, it’s just Bumblebee’s injuries are a lot more complicated than I had realized. Look, they are so bad, neither the Allspark or the Matrix could help him, so you think about that before you start to lecture me on my inventions!” Ironhide just looked away, a clear way of showing he had lost the argument. Ratchet was correct, Optimus Prime tried to use the power of the Matrix to help Bumblebee, and it was of no use, and they even tried the shard of Allspark, but to no avail.
Ironhide started to say something. “I wonder if that ancient Thetacon/Quintesson artifact might have been able to heal Bumblebee, it outdates even the Allspark!” He looked at Optimus. Optimus looked like he was thinking. “But we lost it somewhere along the way.” Optimus Prime had grumbled. Ratchet looked at the two older Autobots. Surprisingly, Ironhide was actually older than Prime, by several million of Earth’s years. Ratchet was reminded, time from time, that Ironhide was aware of past events concerning Transformers and Cybertron that even Optimus wouldn’t have been aware of. But, Ironhide never kept secrets from Optimus, so in return, Optimus was aware of most things, but they were often kept in the back of his mind.
Ratchet pushed this a little more. “What artifact are you two talking about?” Ironhide looked up at the sky. “I’m not too sure what it was, all I know it was kept under high surveillance back in the old Thetacon main headquarters, and when the tribe fell, I felt it was my duty to collect the artifact and keep it in safe hiding.” Optimus Prime nodded in agreement. “We would toggle the artifact back and forth, sometimes he would carry it, sometimes I would, but please forgive us Ratchet, I have searched far back into the Primus history, and does not speak of this artifact, so, I decided to with hold it’s awareness until the time seemed right.” Ratchet began working on Jolt, and with several skilled moves with his hands and instruments, he seemed to be able to get Jolt’s voice working again. Ratchet’s concentration went back to his Autobot leaders. “But, you lost this device along the way?” He asked in dismay. “I did!” Ironhide spoke up. " I had it last, but I can’t recall where or when I might have misplaced it. I think it’s here on Earth, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I might have lost it back on the Ark II, on that moon it’s landed on, or maybe one of them outer moon skirmish we were in.” He looked up into the sky, then right into Ratchet’s eyes. “I’m sorry Ratchet, but with all that’s been happening, I just didn’t put it on the top of my list. The only thing it did seem to do, was it made it possible for me to retrofit other Transformers parts to replace damaged parts on me. Except for my head and spark, and my prized cannon here, everything else that is on me, was not part of my original skin.” Optimus patted Ironhide on the back.
Jolt coughed and played with his voice, then he decided to pipe in, and try to lighten the mood. “Eh, we always knew you were ancient, but it never occurred to me that you were nothing but a bucket of bolts!” Ratchet chuckled, Ironhide glared evilly at him and Optimus Prime gave a look of disgust. Optimus and Ironhide helped Ratchet get Jolt onto a stretcher, and then while they were hauling him to the NEST vehicle waiting in the distance, Jolt was awaken to why he was in this state. “Oh, Prime, I have some bad news, and I must tell you now before we get too close to NEST.” Optimus motioned the other two to set him down on the ground, and then he kneeled closer to Jolt. “What is it?” I couldn’t catch all of it, but it was Shockwave and Soundwave who had attacked me. I played dead, and because of this, I caught a little of their plan. Mind you, they spoke in Decepticon Cybertronian, which I’m not too familiar with, but I was able to catch that they are working with rogue humans, and many of them are in several militaries, throughout the world. There is one who is head of this, and all I know is that he is a Colonel, they referred him to as Colonel, and I heard him speak. He’s an American, sounds Midwestern to me, middle aged, and battle harden, so he’s no suit. He knows what’s going on, and that he mentioned to have sleeper cells within the leadership of this world. I also know that this Colonel is going to start initiating an assassination on all of our immediate allies.”
Optimus Prime had rubbed his chin, Ironhide and Ratchet just looked sad. Ironhide spoke. “Are we talking about NEST as a whole, or in particular human allies?” Jolt shook his head. “I’m not sure, but I would be prepared for both.” Ratchet looked at Optimus and spoke. “Sam and Mikaela could be a target!” Optimus nodded, and added. “Anybody could be a target, Lennox and Epps, and their families for that matter.” Ironhide suddenly jumped. “Lennox, and his family? That means little Isabelle!” Ironhide looked like he was going to try and swim the great Atlantic to get to her, right then and right now. “Look!” Optimus had grabbed the great warrior’s massive arm. “She’s alright for now, Sideswipe is with the family, I always keep an Autobot detail on them, Sam and Mikaela at all times, don’t forget Ironhide, they are my family too!”
Optimus Prime had decided on something. “OK, this is what we are going to do, Jolt, you didn’t survive this, so continue to play dead, and then, we are going to set up secret sites for us, are you all with me?” Optimus Prime looked at the two standing. Ironhide put a fist against his chest. “I may have my opinions on certain things, but I’ll follow your decree anywhere Optimus!” Ratchet nodded in agreement. “Yes, we won’t be winning any war playing by the rule books, I’m with you Prime!” Jolt really had no choice, so he put up his one good arm in surrender. “I wave my white flag!” Ironhide got a tad pissed, and pinged him good on his head. “OK, then I’m going to send a message to the Ark 2, for Prowl and Sunstreaker to come on down. Armorhide is actually already here, he’s been exploring some energon for us so we can keep the fight going, and he seemed to find some deposits back in the United States Rocky Mountains, so I guess we can make an area in that region part of our secret site!” They all nodded, and began the trek back to the NEST vehicle.
It was from this moment, Jolt knew that Optimus decided to enlist Mikaela’s help. He had wanted to just guard her, but Ironhide and Bumblebee had talked him into not just guard her, but train her in the weapons. Since Ironhide was usually guarding the Lennox family, he had sent Sideswipe to do most of the training. Optimus had thought it was a good idea too, the young warrior could use some bonding time with the human allies. Just then, Jolt was awaken from the past by Isabelle’s voice. “So, Maggie, Glen, how come you two, like, disappeared off the face of the Earth” Maggie smiled. “Well, my cousin, whose from Scotland, is part of NEST over in Europe, and he got word that I was going to be a target, and anybody else that was good with a computer, so, one day when coming out of my house, I was confronted and escorted by Sunstreaker back to the headquarters we just came from, and Glen was escorted as well!” Sarah then chimed in. “But aren’t there other computer techs as well, besides you two?” Glen sat up. “Actually, yes, I was working with the secretary of defense when we were actually attacked. Secretary Keller survived, as well as I did, but when we got out, William Lennox escorted us both to a safe house. That’s when we had found out, my whole family was massacred, my Grandma, cousins and my aunt and uncle. But Secretary Keller suffered far more, his wife and two children were killed!” Sarah and Isabelle gasped. “How come none of this was shown on the news?” Sarah asked. Glen had glanced at Maggie. The Aussie spoke. “The Decepticons have enlisted many powerful humans into their plans, I’m pretty sure they have managed to take a stranglehold of most of the media. Think, all you hear is the bad things that the Autobots are doing to our planet, we don’t hear much of the good.!”
Isabelle knew she was right. All the media did was slam the Autobots, and it was kind of strange, that the leaders were so quick to allow the Autobots to be exiled. Now to know that the world leaders were just working for the Decepticons, it made sense now. “Where’s Secretary Keller now?” She met him once, during an award ceremony. He seemed to be very fond and proud of her father, and of Uncle Epps. He did talk about his two girls, who he had said were about the same age as her, but she never got to meet them. Sunstreaker then spoke up. “He was going to Washington to try for a second term, but he poisoned, and we lost him. This is when Optimus decided to hide Maggie and Glen, and he put me and Sideswipe as your guard when he could. But, the Leaders already knew of Sideswipe, so when NEST called for him, he had to go, but I still stayed.!” Isabelle looked at her mom. "I never saw you at the farm!" Isabelle cried out. Sunstreaker's dashboard lights flickered. "No, I kept my distance, and just stayed away, surveying the area, but I never did come close enough to meet either of you!" Isabelle just looked out the window. Her heart felt heavy again, about Keller and his family, Glen and his family, about Ironhide again, and his hard life.
Maggie spoke up. “I know Prowl has been sent to keep watch on her. He’s a damn good Autobot! We could have used his help back in Mission City!” Jolt jumped in. “We could have used him, Armorhide and Sunstreaker’s help back in Egypt. That was hell for a while, with Optimus out for the count! Good thing we got that Matrix back!” Sarah sighed. “Tell me about it, my eyes were glued to the TV with both incidents. The first one was pure horror, because Will hadn’t even seen Isabelle yet!” She thought back then, what seamed like a millennia ago. The battles just seemed to get worse and worse. Isabelle used her breath and fogged up onto Sunstreaker’s windshield, and then she began absentmindedly writing Ironhide’s name into the fog with her finger. “Yeah, I’m not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.”
Isabelle started to feel tired all of a sudden, and she closed her eyes. Her mind drifted off to when times were best. Uncle Ironhide was taking her on one of them joy rides on the farm. She was bouncing all over the place in his cab as he ate up the rolling harvested wheat fields. She could see in the distance, her mom was putting sheets up on the clothes line, and her dad and Uncle Epps were next to Ratchet and Sideswipe, they were swapping stories and drinking swigs of beer. Ironhide had then lurched right into a lake, getting stuck. She had to get out so he could transform back into a robot, and swim out of his predicament. “That was real smooth!” She called out from the bank. He came out of the water, dripping wet, shaking himself like a dog. Just then, Isabelle became aware, it was like before, she was watching herself and Ironhide in the dream, Ironhide was talking to her dreamself, when he turned his head to look right at her. “Be aware of the crazy girl, she needs your help, and she can help us. Be aware of bad NEST, they are not all friends, but dangerous foes. Remember, good crazy girl, bad NEST!”
Isabelle woke up with a fright. Sunstreaker could even feel it. “What is it?” He asked, anxiously. Isabelle spoke up. “Are there bad NEST soldiers that we need to be aware of?” Sunstreaker was quiet for a moment. “Well?” She asked him again. She could hear Jolt on the radio. “How do you know of this Isabelle?” He had asked. She looked at her mom again. Sunstreaker caught on. “Was it another dream?” He asked. She nodded. “What did he say?” She looked out at the highway, and noticed that they had just crossed into Colorado. “He said to watch out for bad NEST, but that a crazy girl can help us.”
Glen uglied up his face. “Bad nest, good crazy girl? Sunstreaker, are you doing crack over there?” Sunstreaker flashed his tail lights in response. Maggie chuckled. “That was real smooth Glen!” Glen then wrapped his knuckles on Jolt. “Know what they are talking about?” Jolt spoke up. “Not really. I know that there are bad nest, but I haven’t a clue about some crazy girl.” Everybody sat back, trying to figure this all out. Then Glen spoke up again. “And how did Isabelle just happen to have this epiphany?” Jolt wondered that too. “Sunstreaker, care to explain?” Sunstreaker was quick with a reply. “No, not now. I’ll let you know later on down the road. Right now though, look around. This place should be packed, it’s a city for crying out loud, but it’s quiet!”
Jolt noticed it, as he did a recon of the area. All of the humans in the Autobots peered out of the windows. There were no humans anywhere, and very little activity period. Isabelle recognized the town, and several landmarks though, and knew they were very near the Air Force base that held NEST, and site B that was to be the location of the safe houses. “Maybe bad NEST knows of this location?” She asked with worry. She could feel her mother’s hand on her back. “Don’t think of such things Isabelle!” But Sarah’s worry in her voice betrayed her true emotions. She looked in the rear view mirror. “Where’s Armorhide?” Sunstreaker spoke up. “He stayed back to secure the Autobot site, he has to destroy is so no enemies come upon it and know what we know. He’ll then catch up, but because he is the muscle, he tends to stay far back, and will come in as a surprise attack if we do come up against some enemy fire.” He lead the way, and then turned off a dirt road and then came to a stop outside one of the Colorado State Park entrances. He opened his doors, as well as Jolt, and it was a sign for the passengers to exit the vehicles. Both Jolt and Sunstreaker than transformed into their robot forms. Sunstreaker kneeled down. “I scanned the area, and I sense no Decepticons. But this is where we depart for now. You should meet up with Mikaela shortly, and some other NEST friendlys.” Sarah looked worried. “But how do we know if these are friendlys?” Sunstreaker seemed to sigh. “I’m not 100 percent sure, but I do know the guys that are supposed to be here, are the ones that helped get Maggie and Glen to safety, including your cousin Maggie!” Maggie smiled. “Avery’s here, he’s a good chap, he’d never betray us!” Isabelle looked on. “But what if they are pretenders?” Sunstreaker looked at Jolt. He then stood up and fumbled with his back, and then he protruded several objects. “This is to detect energon readings, just aim it at something, and if the energon level is high, the needle here will flip to the red. It’s going to show readings though because humans are an absorbent species, and you have been known to absorb some energon into your pores upon close contact, such as now!” He demonstrated by aiming the meter at Isabelle, and the needle went to yellow, which was on the low end of the spectrum. He then gave an object to Sarah, and then to Glen. “I know Ironhide has worked with you on something similar, Mrs. Lennox, Glen, Armorhide has shown you as well. They’re small arms weapons. They can pierce Cybertronian skin, and take out eyes, but it won’t take out something the size if me. But, it’ll give you a chance to make a run for it. And here, Isabelle, just push this button, and it’ll alert us if anyone is in trouble!” He then put a hand on Isabelle, and one on Glen. “I really don’t think you’d be in danger here, but in case, please be careful, and we hope to see you again on better terms. Don’t despair, Mikaela will meet with you, with heavier artillery, and don’t forget, technically, she’s a NEST operative too, and you know you can trust her!”
