Pleased and wanting more...
Mikaela was pleased with how the trip was going so far. In a few short hours, the souped up Mustang was eating up the ground rapidly, and she was already maneuvering the car from US15 to US70. She took in the beautiful scenery of Utah, a truly gorgeous state from a natural point of view. "How you holding up over there Dad?" She called out. He was nervous. He had his hands cupped in his lap, twittling his thumbs. He just gazed out the window, his mouth pursed, but moving, a sign that he was thinking and worrying. "I'm alright I guess, it's this stuff makes me miss the days when I was just worried about getting caught hotwiring a car or something, not being chased by some alien monster!" She smiled. "Want to turn on the radio, see what our wonderful world leaders are saying now?" She asked with a sarcastic tone. Her mood went from devastation, to just pure anger at times. Once she had talked to Isabelle, she kept focus on getting to Colorado, she really didn't feel like listening to some mumbo jumbo on the radio. But, it wasn't a wise thing to blank it out altogether. For all she knew, perhaps Colorado was in a state of emergency. Her curiosity got the best of her, and she flipped on the radio. She wasn't surprised to hear all of the stations were playing news, not music. She scanned the frequencies until she finally came across a reporter that at least had a professional, unbiased take on the issue. "National Security has urged everybody to refrain from panic. The National Guard is already flying into the hot zone, along with all of the other Armed Forces. We're even getting help from neighboring countries of Canada and Mexico, who are sending in their forces to help. But is this enough to thwart such a massive attack on our way of life, our very lives for that matter?" A male reporter had hinted. Both Mikaela and her Dad looked at eachother. "Damn, I guess something has happened during our little road trip!" Her Dad exclaimed. Mikaela cleared her throat. "If they think all of these armed forces are going to be much help, without Optimus or the other Autobots, they are going to be in for a rude awakening!" She clasped the steering wheel tighter, her knuckles turned bone white. She was getting angry and upset again. A female reporter had chimed in. "For those of you who are just turning in, with the destruction of the Autobots, the terrible turn of events which started with the foolhardy decision to exile them altogether, has just escalated, with invasion of the metropolis of Chicago. Communication is down within the entire city, and local and national authorities have initiated an immediate evacuation of all surrounding counties. Again, all of Chicago is in lockdown due to the interstellar invasion, which includes enemy craft from Air, Space and what appears to be, what NASA has called, as space and ground bridges, something only heard of before in comic books. As unreal as this is, this as real as it gets folks!" Mikaela took a deep sigh. "I wonder if Lennox or Epps is in this mess?" Mr. Bane shifted his position. "How many of those bad aliens do you think there are?" Mikaela shrugged. "Too many. They seem to out number the Autobots 20 to one, and they are armed to the teeth!"
Mr. Bane went on, thinking the conversation might calm their nerves. "So, how many of the Autobots have I met?" Mikaela rolled her head, cracking the kinks out of her neck, trying to remember all of the Autobots her dad indeed did meet.
She remembered when he met Bumblebee the first time, it was when he was helping her retrofit the car she now drove. He had come by the garage a few more times, each time her Dad got more comfortable with the friendly robot. Then the one time she wasn't there, Bumblebee stopped by with Sideswipe for the first time. She had gone to the video store, and as she came pulling in, it was a strange sight. Her Dad was sitting on the steps of the porch, drinking a beer, having an animated conversation with Sideswipe, who, along with Bee, were sitting on their knees. "Hey, hey, hey, what's going on here mates?" Mikaela asked as she got nearer the group. Her Dad waved. "Just having a wonderful talk here with a Transformer that can actually talk! It's a change of pace. Nice to get answers!" Bumblebee shrugged. Sideswipe patted him on the back. "Don't worry young gun, you'll rack up some great war stories of your own as time goes on!" Apparently Sideswipe was entertaining her Dad with stories of his battles. Bumblebee was initially just a scout, he knew enough defense to protect himself and others, and to get out of harms way, but it probably wasn't until the battle at Mission City that he started that transition from scout to warrior. Sideswipe on the other hand, it was no secret that he was the student of the mighty Ironhide, trained in the art of battle from the beginning. So, of course his battle stories would be quite numerous.
"This is all fun and dandy, but I know you Sideswipe. Bumblebee and Ratchet might come over just to hang out, but you don't come over unless it's for a reason!" Mikaela wanted to get to the point. Sideswipe looked at her, stunned. "You know, I have more to me than just swords, guns and bloodshed!..........................." He paused for a long moment. "But your right, not at this time. I am here to show you how to use your new weapons!" He declared proudly. Bumblebee got up and removed the cannons from his back, and laid them before Mikaela's feet. Sideswipe also got up, opened up a chest compartment, and laid two sheathed swords, and what looked like a common pistol in it's holster. He then picked up one of the cannons, the whole time Mikaela wondering just how in the world he thinks she could pick it up, it was about the same size as her, and she was no where near the mass Sideswipe or Bee were, but he pushed a button, and a compartment on the cannon lifted out, and he pulled a long firearm. It was silver, stream line, and looked somewhat like a high-powered sniper rifle.
"OK," Sideswipe began. "For starters, these cannons here, we are going to mount onto the roof of your Mustang!" Mikaela folded her arms, and cut him off. "That sounds great, but, it's one thing that we made the outer skeleton out of Cybertonian metal, and boosted the engine so it has three times the horsepower of a normal street car, those things I can hide, but what am I going to do if I get pulled over and the cops see a cannon sticking out of my roof?" Sideswipe sighed. "We're going to add gadgets to the car so the cannons are hidden inside the back part of the car. You won't be able to have passengers in the rear. But a quick flip of a switch, and they should come out on command!" He spoke to her like it was the most obvious thing to do. She was still not sure about this. "What if the cops want to look inside the vehicle?" Sideswipe put his hands on his waste. "It's simple, just don't get pulled over, and if a cop does try to pull over, then TAKE OFF! That car can go 600 MPH, you're an excellent driver, I don't see this becoming a problem!" He was getting agitated. "So, if you'd let me continue."
Mikaela let out a deep breath. She made eye contact with Bumblebee, and he just made a gesture for her to just calm down, and listen. She noted her Dad was watching the weapons show with great interest. "So, I'll show you how to use the cannons, and I think Ironhide might be up this way to show you a little bit more, because they were his!" She nodded. She thought they looked strangely familiar. "If Ironhide is giving these to me, what is he going to use?" "A few new Autobots have emerged, one of them is Wheeljack. For whatever reason, the NEST guys started to call him Q, but either way, he's a weapons specialist as well, and him and Ironhide made a shitload of weapons for the entire team, so they're going to pass off the older ones to some deserving people. Now, if you'd just shut up and let me finish!" Sideswipe, she thought, he was doing a good job putting up with her questions. He did have a short temper, it was nothing new, and his social skills were yet to be desired, but he was handling himself well.
"OK, go on, what's this silver thing you pulled out of the cannon?" She was curious about that one. Her Dad seemed to be as well, because he came closer to examine it. "Well, this is a far more streamlined weapon, as you can see, it fires just like a common human rifle would, but I do caution that I have seen it break human collar bones if they aren't prepared for it's kick. It's just a pistol to us, and it's small size is good, if you have a good eye, at taking out eyes and key joints. You might be able to take out a spark of a smaller con, about the size of you, but the bigger ones, their armor is too thick, so I wouldn't even waste it's power. It's a neat weapon, it uses laser, but it has enough power for only three shots, then you're going to have to recharge it by either keeping it hooked into the cannon here, or you could just simply let it set out in the sun for like 8 hours."
He picked it up in one hand, and handed it to her so she could get the feel of it. It was heavier than she anticipated, Sideswipe may needed only one hand, but she had to use both to hold the gun. It was cool to the touch, and she heaved it up onto her shoulder and looked through the scope. "You're definitely holding it incorrectly!" Sideswipe informed her. He got behind her, and helped position the rifle so it's butt was tucked into her shoulder instead on top of it. It was a bit cumbersome. "It's going to take some time getting used to, but like I said, you're going to have to hold it tight against the shoulder" He placed a strong hand on her shoulder so she could feel how tight she needed to be.
"Could I shoot it now, at that coffee can that's on the fence post?" Sideswipe glanced up ahead, he turned on his chest lights to show the fence and the can sitting on the post. "OK, I guess. I'll help you position and give you some support!" She nodded in acknowledgment, then set up the rifle tight into her shoulder, took aim, took a deep breath, and then waited for Sideswipe. "OK, I gotcha, ready anytime you are!" She breathed out and pulled the trigger. She was so glad Sideswipe was there, his support kept her on her feet. Her shoulder hurt from the back kick, but not too bad. She lowered the weapon and surveyed her accomplishment. "Good shot!" Bumblebee threw in, and clapped. She had taken the can completely out. All she saw was the fence post smoking on the top. Her Dad reached for the weapon.
"Awe, damn, you got to let me try it!" Sideswipe chuckled. "In time, but let me continue with the last three weapons!" He picked up the human sized pistol with his fingers. "This shoots laser technology, not regular bullets, and charge life is far more economical than the rifle. It's a weapon that Optimus Prime himself has asked Wheeljack to engineer. A few of the NEST soldiers Optimus Prime trusts the most have them, and he also wanted you to have one too.!" Mikaela smiled, she felt a little pride in all of this trust.
"Sam got one too?" She asked. Sideswipe shrugged. "Funny, Optimus trusts Sam with his life, but he was pretty persistent that he really didn't want Sam to have any weapons. He never really told anybody why. Maybe it's because whenever he got into trouble, he needed somebody else to get him out?" Mikaela nodded, and she couldn't disagree, Sam did have a bad habit of screaming and running instead of trying to figure a way out of a situation.
She shook her head, and then motioned to the two sheaths. "I'm guessing these are swords?" Both Bumblebee and Sideswipe nodded. Sideswipe grabbed one, and unsheathed it proudly. "These were the swords I trained on myself. As I got larger, they were getting too small for my adversaries, so I upgraded to my current blades, but with training, I think you could put these to good use. Just be careful because they are SHARP!" He walked over to the small garage off the side of the house, wielding one of the swords effortlessly with skilled precision. He made a beeline directly to an old car Mikaela and her Dad were using for parts. With a shocking move that made both Mikaela and her Dad jump, and she swore she even seen Bumblebee jump as well, Sideswipe stabbed the side of the car with ease, twisted the blade so he could use the flat side to lift the car off the ground, fling into the air, and as it fell back down, towards him, Sideswipe just casually sliced the entire car completely in half. "What's the saying you humans use? Slices like a hot knife through butter?" Mr. Bane chuckled. "All I'm going to say is, I'm glad you're on our side!"
This is too good!
Mikaela sighed after remembering these tidbits of enjoying some quality time with her dad, Sideswipe and Bumblebee. They were good times. She got to thinking of what her dad had asked. How many Autobots has her dad met? She remembers Ironhide visiting many times, and Optimus Prime had visited once, but her dad was out of town, trying to find parts, or to show off the reformatted cars at shows and races. The only other Autobot she recalls her dad meeting, and actually striking up a good friendship with, was Ratchet. The others she knew, never got a chance to make it out to the garage. Mostly that was because she was often summoned by Optimus Prime himself to help him out at the NEST base in California.
Kind of funny, she thought, the first time he did request that, was the time her dad met Ratchet. That particular day, she was busy putting up some crown molding on the back porch of the house. When they had purchased the lot, it was actually an old dairy farm. She had drawn up the plans to the land, and had the old barns and silos completely demolished, but she wanted to save the old fashioned Victorian farm house. It just needed some TLC. Another interesting aspect of the property, was that it was located on a corner of adjoining state and town highways. The state highway side would be open to the public. This was where they set up the public entrance for the garage, and show rooms for the custom cars. The private section would have it’s own entrance from the town highway. The Autobots would often make their way from the private entrance. Due to the fact she was working on the back of the house, she was oblivious to Ironhide sneaking up the drive. She wouldn’t become aware of it until she heard a little girl’s voice. “Mikaela, Mikaela, MIKAELA!” She shouted. Mikaela recognized Isabelle’s voice immediately. “I’m in the back!” She hollered. Isabelle came around to the back, and was followed by Ironhide. “Oh, you came with your dad?” Mikaela asked. “No, I was getting board, getting in the way, and that was when Uncle Prime suggested to Uncle Ironhide to take me for a ride out here, see if I can convince you to come back to the NEST base. Uncle Prime needs your help with some things. Think this place can manage without you, for a little while?” Mikaela had checked her watch. It was still early in the day, and it was a Sunday. The garage was closed for business on Sundays. “Yeah, what the hell!” She had washed up., closed up the house, and then jumped into Ironhide with Isabelle. “So, how did Optimus convince your dad to let you out of his sites?” “That’s because she’s with me!” Ironhide had bellowed. Mikaela felt stupid. She should have know better, Ironhide would never let anything bad happen to Isabelle. He went above and beyond the call of duty trying to protect herself and Sam. Isabelle, was on another whole plane with Ironhide, she was practically his family!
When they got to the NEST headquarters, Mikaela and Isabelle exited from Ironhide so he could transform into robot mode, and lead them through the hustle and bustle of military infrastructure. She held Isabelle’s hand as Isabelle pointed out some of the new Autobots that Mikaela wasn’t even aware of. “That’s Que over there. He’s super smart. Oh, and this one over here, he’s like best friends with Sideswipe, his name is Dino, but I once heard Sideswipe call him Mirage!” Ironhide butted in. “He did, did he? We’re trying to keep some of the new Autobots real names under wraps, we don’t want the Decepticons to know who we have on our side. Element of surprise is what is on our side!” Mikaela nodded. She noted the red robot and the blue one in the distance. “So, you’re on talking terms with Sideswipe, huh?” She remembered when she first met Isabelle. Her and Sam had stayed at the Lennox farm house when they got back from Egypt, along with several of the Autobots who felt the need to watch over everyone for a while. She had noted that Isabelle often hid behind Ironhide, Ratchet, Prime, or one of her parents when Sideswipe was around. Obviously scared of him.
“Yeah, I guess once I got to know him a little bit, he wasn’t so bad!” “No!” Ironhide had butted in, “He started to treat you and human kind in general better, after I kicked his ass! He’s like one of you human teenagers, thinks he knows it all, and is above everyone. He just needed to crash back to earth!” Mikaela and Isabelle laughed a little. “He still scares me a little though, when he wants to show off with them swords!” Isabelle chimed in. “I know what you mean!” Mikaela said. “So, if he’s friends with this Dino, how come I never seen this guy at my garage?” Ironhide turned to glance at her. “He’s of lower class, NEST administrators try to keep the lower class Autobots hidden unless needed. But the higher commanders, like Prime, Myself, Sideswipe and Ratchet, are immune to such orders. Bumblebee , however, he gets a special pass because he is YOUR friend! He doesn’t only come to visit you either, he stops by at them annoying parents of Sam’s as well. Allspark knows why, I can stomach them parasites for only so long!”
Mikaela nodded. She guess this made sense. They finally got to where the great Optimus Prime was, standing tall, overseeing a large group of human soldiers, along with Jolt, Mudflap and Skids, who were unloading cargo from a large plane. “Optimus, I got your package!” Ironhide bellowed. They all stopped short of the chaos. The enormous Autobot turned his attention to Ironhide, and the girls. “Ah, Mikaela, it’s a pleasure to see you again! How are you and your father holding up?” Mikaela smiled. It was nice to know not only you, but your dad, whom Optimus has never met, was remembered. “We’re doing real good, actually. You should come by some time, I’ll give you a tour of the place, and I’ve set it up where you can be in your full robotic form and be hidden from even satellite images!” Optimus nodded. “I appreciate that, I’ll definitely have to take you up on your offer. Some time away from the war, can do wonders, right Isabelle!” The great bot gave the little girl a kind wink. Mikaela raised an eyebrow. “Well, sometimes he comes out to the farm, and mom and I wash him up, give him a paint job, make him look shiny and new again!” Mikaela smiled and ruffled the little girl’s hair.
“So, Optimus Prime, what can I do for you?” Mikaela asked. “Glad you brought that up. Come with me, if you will!” He said. He waved an inviting arm, and began down a corridor. Mikaela followed. She looked back to see that Isabelle was going to stay behind. “It’s alright.” Ironhide called out, “I’ll look after her, you hurry up to Prime!” Mikaela obeyed the instructions and rushed up the Prime. “I hear you’re getting quite good with the weapons?” Mikaela nodded. “Yes, I got good instructors!” “Hmmm, yes, I have a small group, but they are the very best. I’ve been talking things over with Major Lennox. We have an opening for a NEST operator, if you’re interested!” She glanced wide eye at him. “Are you serious?” Optimus Prime nodded. “Yes, Bumblebee has always been proud of your skills with handling Decepticons. It’s more impressive from my point of view, because from the beginning, you could handle yourself well, without any training, and without any proper weapons of any kind. This is something you can’t teach, it’s just a skill, a talent that has been present the whole time. You’d be a great addition!” Mikaela didn’t know what to say, or do. She knew Sam had been trying to get into NEST ever since they came back from Egypt. It never occurred to her to even try. Most installations such as this, frowned upon women being operatives. “Is Sam going to be in it?” Optimus sighed. “Honestly, I don’t think you need to worry or concern yourself about him. This is about you. Are you interested?” Mikaela fiddled her hands. “Well, yeah, I know Sideswipe had hinted about this, and I told him that it’s just not practical for me, with the garage and all!” Optimus had cut her off. “This may be none of my business, but perhaps you could let your father, become an adult, in charge of his own affairs? And besides, I’ll make the transition easy, you could start with just being a repair mechanic for the Autobots and the military Earth vehicles. It’s one of the other reasons why I brought you here!”
He pointed towards another room, and she could see Ratchet working on an Earth Hummer. “Ratchet your possible future student is here!” Optimus Prime had informed the medic. Ratchet looked up, and Mikaela had sworn she could see him smile. “Mikaela, how nice to see you! You have been greatly missed!” He walked by, bent down, and cupped her little hand into his massive one. She supposed this is about as close to a gentleman a Transformer is going to get. “Hello Ratchet, long time, no see. So, what are you planning to teach me?” Ratchet and Prime glanced at each other. “The truth is, I am severely overwhelmed with injured bot and retrofitting the Earth vehicles, I sure could use some help!” Optimus Prime spoke up, “the big thing is, when it comes to humans operating on actual Transformers, I just don’t trust the majority of them. I trust Lennox, Epps and Sam, but they are no where near qualified to work on us, you on the other hand, are very qualified!” Mikaela nodded. Again, she felt honored with all of this special trust. “So”, Ratchet continued, “I’ll show you how to use my instruments to help patch up an Autobot or two. Maybe you could have a look at some of the Earth vehicles that are not working properly as well!” He folded his arms, looking down at her. “Wow, this is an amazing proposal. I am interested, just, I have to make arrangements with my Dad. I understand where you’re coming from Optimus, I really do, but you did say the transition will be slow. Give me time to get my dad in order!” Optimus Prime nodded. “Of course. Ratchet will show you around the base today, and then he’ll drive you home and set up a communications center, in case we need to get a hold of you. As time goes on, you’ll eventually join Lennox in actual missions, and we’ll probably find the best Autobot to be your partner”. Mikaela was a bit taken back by this. She’d figure Bumblebee would be her partner, or maybe even Sideswipe. Optimus seemed to read her mind. “When choosing partners, some do blend beautifully, like the team work between Lennox and Ironhide. I myself, formed quite a nice partnership with Epps, before he retired!” Mikaela was shocked at this news too. She pushed it aside, to hear Optimus out. “I’m thinking you would have thought I would have teamed you up with Bumblebee or Sideswipe. It’s just a matter of time before Sam will eventually be initiated into NEST, after he matures some. When that day comes, it’s inevitable, he’ll be teamed up with Bee. Sideswipe is way too much like you, so I heard. It’s never a good balance when both partners have their skills and weaknesses in the same areas. But don’t fret, I have somebody in mind that might work quite well in your favor.” He glanced at Ratchet. Ratchet just chuckled. Mikaela was just perplexed. Obvious, this was an inside joke between the Autobots.
Mikaela had saluted Optimus, as he had other things to deal with, and spent the rest of the afternoon learning about the base, a little bit about how Transformers worked, about the instruments used to fix them. Ratchet also let her know about the Earth vehicles they were reformatting, and how they consisted of land, sea and air. He also told her it would be mandatory, as a NEST field agent that specialized in mechanics, to become familiar with the Xanthium. This was so unreal. She never imagined becoming a mechanic for aircraft, but becoming a mechanic for a space craft, this was stuff dreams were made of.
It had been a long day, and Ratchet could sense the tire in her. “How about I stop by one of them coffee shops, and then take you home?” Mikaela smiled. “That sounds nice. Thanks for understanding, this is a lot to take in one day. And besides, I wanted to show you my garage. I made sections of it for you guys to come by and relax!” The Autobots always made her feel welcome, she just wish she could return the favor. “Yep, this sounds like a great plan. Well, come then, I got all the devices I need to set up the communications port. Let’s get rolling!”
It was dark by the time Ratchet brought Mikaela home. Her dad wasn’t home yet, but no worries, she could still show Ratchet around the garage. He transformed in the front of the house, then he followed her. “Up there, where the balcony is, that’s my room. That’s just a junk garage over there off to the side, and the field behind it is where Sideswipe, Bee and Hide have been training me.” She motioned the big lime colored bot to follow her through a gate, and this was the primary work area of the garage. She pointed at the two large building. “That’s where you guys can come and stand up during daylight hours. Perhaps one of them can be used as a communications room?” She asked. Ratchet nodded. “Yes, this does look very promising indeed. May I have a look?” Mikaela nodded her head. “Please do, Ratchet, you don’t have to ask for permission. Mi casa is your casa!” He seemed to smile at that, and made his way to the closest garage. She showed him the key pad to unlock it, and the massive garage door opened. They went in. Ratchet’s gaze turned onto the green mustang that was kept in the garage. “Look familiar?” She asked Ratchet. ”Yes, just a bit!” Mikaela smiled. “This is the car that Bumblebee brought home, and we’ve been rebuilding it.” Mikaela let her hand glide along the shiny metal. “Bumblebee replaced all paneling with Cybertonian metal, Ironhide and Sideswipe helped arm the cannons onto the roof, there are machine guns in pockets on the front fenders, and Sideswipe made some advancements to the engine, if you know what I mean!” Mikaela hinted. Ratchet had just glared at the car. “Yes, I’m aware of all of this. It was kind of Optimus’s idea!” Mikaela shook her head. Optimus sure was being a bit overprotective of her as of late, despite his offering the NEST position. Just then, they heard the crunch of tires on the gravel, and she realized her dad was home.
“Don’t worry, he’ll be cautious at first, but you got a great personality, so my dad should warm up to you real quick!” Mikaela told Ratchet. They went outside, and Ratchet’s little quakes every time he walked alerted Mr. Bane to a Transformer being present. He squinted in the dark to take in the robot. Mikaela had laughed. Ratchet would definitely be the biggest Autobot her father had met. He gawked at Ratchet’s size, his peculiar features, his bulky build. “Mikaela, I take it, this is not Bumblebee, unless he’s on steroids!” “No dad, this is their medic, Ratchet. I told you about him.” Ratchet walked forward, squatted and offered a finger for a handshake. Mr. Bane took it in a trance like state. “Damn, how big do you guys get? Are you the biggest?” Ratchet scoffed. “Me, the biggest, hardly. Prime is probably the biggest of the Autobots, he stands about, oh, 28 feet!” Mr. Bane gulped. “28 feet?” Ratchet nodded. “But the Decepticons are much larger. Megatron is like 35 feet, and there even bigger ones than him.”
“If they are so big, how in the hell do you guys keep defeating them?” Ratchet stepped back.” Defeat you say, hardly, more like kept at bay. But your own world history shows that size and numbers don’t necessarily mean instant victory. Heart and perseverance has a lot to do with our accomplishments.” Mr. Bane nodded. “So, what brings you here now.” Mikaela clasped her hands and put them up to her chin. “They’re offering me a spot on the NEST team. Ratchet here is going to set up a communications port somewhere on the property, most likely the building that we’ve been working on the Mustang in!” Mr. Bane didn’t look thrilled about this. “Tell you what, Ratchet, let me get a coffee, and then we’re going to sit down over there by the house. I play cards with Sideswipe and Bee over there, I’m sure it’ll be perfect for discussing on why you guys want my daughter to get in the thick of your mess!” He had walked off, and Mikaela just looked at Ratchet. “Sorry, it’s going to take some time to get used to for him!”
Just then, Mr. Bane snapped Mikaela out of memory lane. “Uh, we’re in Colorado, and something doesn’t seem right!” Mikaela started to become aware of her surroundings, and he was right, the restaurants, stores, theaters, everything in the down town area was deserted. She sat up straight, her instincts were kicked into full gear. “What the hell?” She exclaimed. “Anything on the radio?” She turned the dial, but there was nothing but static. “Shit,” Mr Bane breathed heavily. “I thought they said Chicago, not Colorado!” Mikaela glanced at her dad. His eyes were wide, and he was definitely not happy about this situation. “I don’t know dad. Maybe the invasion has gotten more widespread than we realized. But I don’t even see any cop cars, no national guards, no military, and there is a big Air Force base around. Where are they?” She too was getting a bit anxious. “So, then, how far is it to this secret spot?” Mr. Bane asked his daughter. “Not far, it’s not too far from the Air Force base. Look, Site B is basically just a name for the rocky mountains in Colorado, members of NEST designated as a place where their families can hide out. Transformers are robots, they don’t like the wilderness, and try to avoid it if they can. Chasing some non threatening humans in the mountains is highly unlikely.”
Mr. Bane laughed. “I hope you’re right. You never got back to me on that count!” He remarked. Mikaela wondered if he was trying to keep the mood light. “Well, if I recall correctly, it seems you only met three. Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Ratchet. You never got to meet Prime or Ironhide yet, sadly.” She felt her heart get heavy. She so wanted her dad to meet Optimus Prime. The look on his face after seeing him would have been unforgettable. “I heard of them though. Ironhide, he’s a black truck, right, and this Optimus is a semi truck, correct?” Mikaela nodded. “Well, I may have never seen the black truck, but the semi, he’s blue, with red flames, right?” Mikaela looked at him. “Yes!” Mr Bane went on, “and he’s a Peterbuilt, with a bunch of flashy lights, hauls a white trailer with a broad line on the side of it?” Mikaela opened her mouth in wonder. “Yeah, when did you meet Optimus?” She asked incredibly. “I never said I met him, it’s just, sometimes I would see that truck parked on the side of the road, across from the garage.” Mikaela was stupefied. Why would Prime stop by and never say anything. She recalled the one time he did, and it was just so he could check the place out. Ratchet had the wires and connections in place for the communications room, they were just waiting for the correct codes to patch it to the satellites. Mikaela frowned. Perhaps if they had gotten a chance to finish the control room, she would have been alerted about the Autobots exile, but they were all summoned to a mission out of the country. While she got to help Ratchet doctor up a few bots, and repair some of the trucks, she never did get to join Lennox yet for some actual field work. “How many times did you see him?” Mr Bane shrugged. “Maybe a handful, why, he never told you?” She shook her head. Mr Bane went on, “well, Ratchet said he felt responsible for you, perhaps he was watching out for you during a dangerous time?” Mikaela was confused. “But they why would he train me to defend myself if he was just going to be there to protect me anyways?” “Well hon, maybe he foreseen these chain of events happening?” Mikaela felt cold. Did he know something like this would happen, that they would have been exiled, or just overwhelmed in numbers? She was deep in thought when an alarm went off in the car. “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?” Her dad cried out in alarm. Mikaela pulled down a panel from the center consol on the ceiling, when doing that, it raised the cannons that were buried inside the back seat of the car, to the outside. She pushed a button, and the top of the dashboard flipped to reveal the sniper rifle, the smaller pistol and the two swords. Both of the guns were actually plugged into the dashboard. Sideswipe and her had routed wires that would go from the dashboard, to the consol, and then meet up to the cannons, providing the charge the weapons would need. She looked at her dad, with a serious gaze. “We’re not alone anymore, dad, we got company!”
Wow man. You've really developed all of the characters very well and made them more three dimensional. The plot is also going in a good direction. I'm definitely impressed.
Thanks. I'm just putting in things that I had wished the movies would have touched up on. I'm going to be adding a few other surprises, I hope people like.
Trust me,people like!
Sorry, I have been dealing with some issues at home, and I'll resume writing tonight. My Dad passed away about a month ago, and now I'm finally getting things in order at the house. He was sick, and I didn't want him at some cold hospital, so for the past 10 years, I set up a room in my house as his nursing room, because I wanted him to die in the comfort of his bed. Now that he's gone, I'm now cleaning and remodeling it, so I'm sorry I haven't been on, but I'm sure you all will understand.
To give you all some hints, I'm going to be adding some surprises via situations and guest stars. I'm taking some considerable liberty, using some things from the comics and some from the movies to make my own continuity. I will also continue with the flash backs, I love them and it shows development between the Transformers and humans in non war situations. I'm also going to take a big liberty concerning something that happened off screen in DOTM movie, but we all bitched like crazy about how it came to be, and this idea just hit me one day when I was jogging, and I hope it'll be embraced.
Tonight, I'll resume. Expect the next ensuing chapters at about 1:15 AM Eastern time! To the guys, I'm sorry I'm writing this from the girls point of view, me being a girl, I can relate the most to, but I'm trying with Mr Bane.
I'm sorry for you loss, it's sad to lose a loved one. But at least he died in the comfort of family rather than in a hospital.
“Enlighten me!” Mr. Bane had called out to his daughter. He was now very much on edge, looking around at the town, glancing at the weapons, then at his daughter. “It’s an energon detector. Ratchet and another Autobot named Q invented this device to warn of any transformers that are within a certain amount of clicks from us.” Mr. Bane was a little apprehensive. “Well, then how come it never went off when Bee or Sideswipe came by?” Mikaela rolled her eyes. “To make a long story short, each Transformer’s energon is as different as our DNA or fingerprints. Q and Ratchet programmed the device to ignore energon from the Autobot database. Any unregistered energon reading would warrant an immediate alert, such as now!” Mr. Bane started to crack his knuckles. “So, do we have one of them Decepticons near us?” Mikaela shrugged. She was calm right now, but alert. “Well, let’s see if some more of Ratchet’s inventions can help us!” She leaned forward to what would normally be a simple built in GPS on the center dash console. But of course, not only did it feature GPS, but it also offered infrared. Transformers still emitted heat, perhaps she could use the radar to try and find any within their vicinity. Her heart sank. The road they were traveling was a quiet two lane street. A few traditional style buildings would be here and there, but most of the road was surrounded by thick trees. Her presumption of Transformers dislike of nature were proven wrong by the Radar, for they were being flanked beyond the trees by two large figures, one on each side of the road. She looked in the rear view mirror, but still couldn’t see anything. Mr. Bane looked at the Radar image himself. “I’m not stupid, we either got two big elephants coming up behind us fast, or it’s a couple of them Decepticons!” Mikaela just looked at her dad. “Dad, look, everything is going to be alright, this is exactly why Optimus Prime has had both of us trained on these weapons here!” She pointed to the weapons on the dashboard! “ And, it’s why he had us trained in tactics and why we got this Mustang reformatted!”
She took a deep breath, and sighed. “Only thing is, should I go my normal pace, stay and fight, or just take off, because this car can go 600 miles per hour!” Mr Bane scratched the stubble on his chin. “Look, while you were off hanging out with them young guns, Sideswipe and Bumblebee, Ratchet came around and told me a lot of shit. Especially about the Decepticons. Many of these guys can actually fly!” Mikaela forgot about that. “I always wondered why so many of the Decepticons can fly and the Autobots, not so much!” Mr Bane laughed. “ You’re going to tell me I know something about these guys that you don’t?” Mikaela squinted her eyes at her dad. “So, what did you learn dad?” “Well, this is just from Ratchet, and Sideswipe told me a little bit/ Most Autobots were originally just scientists and more or less, just plane citizens. The Decepticons are mostly from military lines from a long time ago. Now, if there are Decepticons that can’t fly, they have to take it from another Transformer that has the technology, but usually that is done by just plane killing them and stealing their flight. Autobots live on a higher justice code. Most of the time, the technology that they acquired is given to them by it’s original owner!”
Mikaela nodded. “That makes sense. Back in Egypt, when Optimus was finally awaken, you remember Jetfire?” Mr. Bane nodded. “Well, Jetfire did have flight technology, and he sacrificed himself so Optimus could use it!” Her Dad smile. “Yeah, sounds fitting. Oh, Mikaela, I wish I could have met him, Optimus sounds like a really wonderful creature. I would have loved to pick his brains!”
Mikaela closed her eyes, pushing back tears. She wished that too. But just then, she finally decided, she was going to take a stand against these bastards. They want to play, then find, let’s play! “Hang on Dad, it’s time to get dirty!” With a quick swift move on the shifter and clutch, she slowed down, and then spun the car around, and started to head towards the figures that were coming for them. She wasn’t taking any chances. She looked at the radar, and then took aim with the cannons via the GPS computer, and then slowed down to a halt and pushed the fire button. The car shook as both cannons let loose their projectiles, split off, and headed to their targets. She and her father watched on the radar, and it showed the small heat of the missiles going towards the bigger objects, and then impact. They saw the trees in the distance on both sides of the road catch on fire as the explosion rocked the Colorado forest. She gritted her teeth, wondering if she got them, and also wondered if she might of alerted other Decepticons in the area.
She looked at her dad. “I have to see if the coast is clear!” He looked at her with an incredible look. “What, you mean to see if they are dead. Are you CAZY?” “Look!” She cut him off. “These things keep coming back because we don’t make sure they are dead. Let me take the rifle, you stay in the driver’s seat. I’ll be right back!”
Before he could protest, she put the car in park, grabbed the rifle and jumped out of the car. She was all business and headed straight for the smoldering wreckage just beyond the trees on either side of the road. She took off towards the right side first to survey the damage. The Decepticon was about the size of Bee. It’s chest was burnt, and she supposed the missile got him right through the spark. She shrugged. It wouldn’t have surprised her in the slightest if Ironhide had actually rigged his cannons to go right for the spark. She verified that it’s opticals were completely dead, and then she went to the smoldering trees on the other side of the road. She still had the rifle pressed against her shoulder, ready for any surprises. She went closer to the smoke, and her heart sank. Only trees were still burning and smoldering, there was no wreckage of a robot or a car, but she knew she wasn’t seeing things. She saw two heat images. Then she heard a wicked laugh. “Clever girl, I wasn’t expecting you to be armed with Cybertron weapons!” The huge Decepticon crept out from the shadows of the smoke. He was black, and about the size of Ratchet. “But, unfortunate for you, my weapons are better!” He aimed a massive cannon of his own, mounted on his forearm, right at her. “I don’t think so!” She hissed, and quickly took aim at one of his eyes and took the shot.
While he screamed in surprise, she made a break for it, towards the Mustang. Her dad had the engine ready. She waved her arms, and he put the car in drive, speeding towards her. He halted so she could get into the passenger’s side! “Quick, we have to make a run for it. I got one, but not the other. I just gave a paper cut, but he’s going to be coming quick and fast and pissed!” Mr. Bane nodded, and through the clutch into drive, and spun the car around and away from the smoke. He glanced in the rear view mirror to see the pissed off Transformer emerging from the woods. It started to run towards them, it’s weight ripping the pavement with each crushing stride, and then it made a diving motion, and transformed into midair, and into a black military vehicle. And he had some serious speed going for it as well. “Mikaela, you say this car can go 600, right?” Mikaela looked out the window behind them. She ducked back in. “Yes, gun it!” He nodded, and put the pedal to the metal!
They were going at an incredible pace. Mikaela kept an eye on her dad. “You Ok with these speeds?” He nodded, both hands were holding tight onto the steering wheel as he maneuvered around the winding roads. “This car is handling the roads nice, I’m fine, how is that monster doing following us?” Mikaela kept on looking behind, her rifle still ready in her grasps. “He’s still on us. He’s not as fast, but he still can keep up. He might be chasing us into a trap.” Mr. Bane nodded. Such a thought was in the back of his mind.
Just then, both of them became alert to the a thumping sound, and then looked up to see a blue fighter jet come fly over the trees. “Well?” Mr. Bane cried out in terror. “Is it a con or just a rescue jet?” Mikaela turned around and stuck her head out the window to see what the black Decepticon behind her was doing. She noticed it flashed it’s lights. To her dismay, the jet coming up on their side also flashed a light in the sides of it‘s wings. She came back in, checking their weapons. “I’m pretty sure it’s another Decepticon.” She told her dad in a tired voice. “Dad, it’s one thing to deal with a couple of cons on the ground, but we don’t have the power to deal with an air striking con!” She cried out in alarm. “We simply just don’t have the firepower!” Her Dad nodded. “Were they waiting for us? Don’t you think it’s kind of suspicious that they seem to be in this region, where the hideout is near?” Her dad asked. A million things going through his head.
It did occur to her that is was kind of weird. The hideout was supposed to be top secret, it was set up between Lennox, Epps, Sam and her and was to be used to hide themselves and their families in case of something like this. Then another thought came to her. Optimus Prime was the one who wanted her trained, he was the one who sent Bumblebee and Sideswipe to train her, maybe he knew something that he never got to tell. “Oh Optimus, if you were here, what would you do?” She called out to no one in particular. Just then, her father slowed down the Mustang rapidly, spun into a half donut, and with quite a shock, her door popped open and she fell rather gently out onto a grassy area. She still held onto the rifle with a pretty tight hand. She looked up to see the Mustang then sped away, but then was completely shocked to see that her dad was in the same predicament as she was. He was sitting on the grass too, completely shocked.
“No way!” Mikaela whispered to herself in a dread. She got up and ran over to her dad, and helped him to his feet. He scratched his head in confusion. “What in the hell is going on?” His eyes followed the green Mustang, as it sped towards the black military vehicle and blue fighter jet. To both their horrors, and disbelief, the Mustang all of a sudden made a leap into the air, and began spinning violently, all at the same time, the cannons protruding from the roof began to fire, hitting the chopper. Then, chrome looking spikes began to emerge from underneath the green metal of the car, and in it’s spinning fury, tore right into the black military vehicle that it was headed towards.
The Banes watched on as the Mustang then changed into a Transformer, raised it’s massive arms and began firing at the jet. The blue jet came flying in, smoldering from the damaged inflicted upon it, and then turned into a sharp looking robot. It stopped short and called out to the green transformer. “Ah, Prowl, Optimus was very wise to elude us to your existence on this planet. Now, the extermination of one more Autobot will be my pleasure!”
The green Mustang glanced at the black robot that lay in two pieces, obviously completely destroyed with Prowl’s strategic move. “ Like old times Thundercracker, I’ve beat you down before, and will have to do it again!”
Doing great with the story
Prowl was just slightly shorter than his Decepticon counterpart, but he was armed to the teeth, and seem to have a bit of an edge, some intelligence into his fighting. When Mikaela was witness to many Transformers battles in the past, both sides tend to use brute strength when fighting. Prowl was just calm, waiting for this Thundercracker to make his leap, and at the last possible moment, Prowl stepped aside and grabbed hold of the con, and body slammed him into the ground. Dust and debris kicked up into the air. He then lurched towards the blue con, and tore away his primary weapon, took it along with a cannon mounted on his arm, and aimed it at Thundercracker’s head. “Finally, I got your attention, so please, tell me, why are the Decepticons attacking Colorado?” Thundercracker looked dead into the barrel of his own weapon, his fingers working, obviously trying to figure out how to get out of this predicament. “I’m not telling you nothing!” Prowl nodded. “I figured you would say that.” He took his own weapon and put a round into the con’s shoulder. Thundercracker winced, but remained silent. But soon, it was evident why he wasn’t too worried, Prowl started taking some small fire from behind, and he withdrew the weapons, and rolled out of the way. Thundercracker got up swiftly, took aim with another weapon at Prowl. He fired once, and Prowl met the fire by releasing a projectile from one of his cannons. The projectile stopped Thundercracker’s fireball from hitting it’s intended target. Then, Prowl became aware of the smaller con making a leap towards his back, and he spun around, but that was when Mikaela, who got her bearings, had aimed the high powered rifle and took it’s shot, taking out the smaller con’s head. It fell into a heap at Prowl’s feet. He then picked up the con and flung it at Thundercracker. Thundercracker eyed Mikaela, and then quick as a cat, picked up the remains of the small con, transformed back into a jet, and clumsily climbed into the air for a get away. Prowl tried to hit the blue streak, but Thundercracker was just too swift, and the entire gang watched in dismay as he flew over the trees, and out of sight behind a mountain. Prowl rested his arms, and seemed to have sighed, and then looked over at the Banes.
Mikaela was confused, and a little upset. When she had first seen underneath Bumblebee’s hood, so long ago it seemed, he was able to hide most of his true self with mirages. But there was no mistaken, when she was pulling the old beat up Mustang when Bumblebee had brought it home, none of it was a simple mirage. She glanced at her dad, who looked white as a ghost from his first Decepticon encounter. She smiled at him, but then got mad again. She flung the rifle over her shoulders and made her way to the green robot. “Look, there is no way, NO WAY I COULD HAVE MISSED YOU BEING A TRANSFORMER!” She yelled in fury. “I, I , I, completely stripped all of the metal, I saw the frame. I WORKED ON THE FRAME!” She was getting so upset, she had tears of anguish welling up in her eyes. Her dad came behind her and put a hand on her shoulder. “I’m sure he has an explanation, right?” Mr. Bane asked, in hope. Because he himself was a bit astonished if the transformers were so good at disguising themselves, that they can mimic a simple frame. Prowl seemed to understand their concern. He put out a hand in understanding, and a way to hopefully calm down the tension.
“I can understand how you feel. Up until you finally started to work at NEST, you were working on a legit Mustang. I wasn’t even on Earth yet, I was still back on Optimus’s own ship that’s stationed off of a moon. It was when I came and told Optimus about some developments that he decided to have me cover you for a while.” Mikaela scratched her head. “When did you make the switch?” Prowl nodded. “When Ironhide came and took you to NEST headquarters the first time. I was waiting for Optimus to get the word that you would join. Once I got the command, I took the weapons and dispose of your true car.” Mr. Bane looked baffled. “What exactly did you do with the car?” Prowl sighed again. “I ate it.” Mr. Bane look disgusted. “You ate it, isn’t that like, cannibalism or something?????” Prowl cocked his head. “Not really. If it was an actual transformer, then yes, it would be. But, in my case, it would be like you eating a mannequin. The truth, Transformers eat metal and then we can turn the metal into bullets for our weapons. Lets say, it’s our way of recycling.”
Mikaela was getting more comfortable with Prowl. He wasn’t as brazen as either Sideswipe or Ironhide were, but he didn’t seem to have this high aurora about him like Optimus and Ratchet seemed to have. She suppose, this would be what Bumblebee would be like when he matured some. She walked closer to take him in. He reminded her of Barricade, that terrible Decepticon that disguised himself as a cop car. But Prowl was slightly larger. He mimicked the 1968 Shelby GT500KR, with emerald green coloring and white racing stripes. The stripes could be seen on his chest and helmet. As she was looking at him, it just hit her. She gasped. “You’re the Autobot Optimus was hinting at that I was to be partnered with?” He nodded, and he squatted down so he didn’t tower over her and her father so much. “Yes, but this was something that Optimus didn’t think about until just recently. He knew you as well as some others were being spied on, so it’s why he had you trained, but it wasn’t until Ironhide suggested that you really should be a NEST operative! I think Ironhide was hoping you would be teamed up with Sideswipe, but some of the other Autobots didn’t think it would be a good idea, and it wasn’t until I showed up that Optimus came with the conclusion that I would be a better fit. Hope you don’t mind?” If a Transformer could smile, Mikaela was pretty sure he was doing it. She looked at her dad, a smile flickered on the corners of his mouth. She caved in and nodded. “You proved yourself worthy. Now, hurry up and transform back into car mode, we need to get to site B quickly. Obviously you know, we’re to meet with Sarah and Isabelle Lennox!” Prowl acknowledged, and smoothly turned into the Mustang again.
“You ate it, isn’t that like, cannibalism or something??”
That was pretty hilarious. Great job
