Sega are an integral part of a publicly traded entertainment conglomerate, if anything like that was even close to happening then i'd be all over the Japanese financial news long before employees were allowed to make the sort of social media hints that silly people on the internet are currently over reacting to. They're also in a bunch of other businesses outside of game publishing that a western software/gaming company wouldn't want like arcades, amusements, toys and entertainment venues.

I don't doubt they are doing some sort of business though, probably a big influx of ports and maybe day one gamepass for future titles. MS are opening TGS tomorrow, so i'd expect to hear about that then.

As for who MS might be buying next, the guys working on Flight Sim seems likely and there's been talk about Bungie for a while.

The Sega rumors are totally baseless. Given Xbox opening TGS, it's probably a partnership for Gamepass stuff at most.

I think I saw that a purchase that involves Sega is something like 3 times the size of what MS paid for Bethesda. Zenimax is/was privately held iirc, hence it coming from seemingly nowhere. Only the owners needed to know until the deal was done.

I'm sure MS will throw their money around elsewhere, and I dread when they do, but Sega ain't it.

I thought Nintendo owned Sega, or did they just license rights to the games? I only ask cuz I don't recall seeing any Sega games on any other system. There could be for all I know, which I don't.

Nintendo doesn't own Sega. They partially own the Bayonetta character, but not the entire company.
Can't tell if it's sarcasm, but just saying... yeah.

Sonic appeared many times on Sony and Xbox consoles including Sonic 2006, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Generations, Sonic Forces and every Sonic racing game from 2006 to 2019.

Actually, that's not quite right with respect to Bayonetta. Nintendo owns certain rights to Bayonetta 2 and 3. Sega owns the IP itself as well of the characters.

I am surprised Sega still works with Sony, after they gave them so much shit with putting their games on their consoles. Sonic Heroes was originally planned to not come to PS2, but Sony threatened if they didn't put the game on the console they would probably never get a game on a Sony console, so a sloppy port was rushed out.
    Weird how things are.

Putting aside that that was 17 years ago, for Sega to discard Sony would've been suicidal for them as a business. That said, the vast majority of Sega games after they went third party were on Playstation. Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic Generations were all on PS3. In fact, Sonic Generations wasn't even on the Wii. The Yakuza series was actually initially funded by Sony and at first were PS2 exclusives. Valkyria Chronicles also started out on PS3, etc.
