This is a problem because ....? I hate Norton. My work computer has it, and it sucks. The worst part is I can not get rid of it. It slows down the computer so much. My home PC which does not have it is so much faster, even though the processor is slower.
I hate norton as well. I was plauged with it for two years and it did nothing but slow my computer down and let viruses in. Not to mention if norton even gets the least bit corrupted in anyway, you have to download a file just to do a force uninstall. So I too see no wrong here.
well I guess that finally explains why my computer's so slow, and my dad's is so quick. you can't do anything on mine till norton loads up. what do you all recommend for antivirus if you don't use norton?
My computer is really fast and it has Norton. However I have to renew it in like the 7th of this March. What should I do? Renew it or are there better Anti-Virus programs out there?
Go here This is the page for daily Virus Definition updates to Norton. It updates daily while the automatic updater only updates weekly
Anyone remember the Good Idea, Bad Idea segments from Animaniacs? I'm thinking that Mr. Skullhead would have been perfect for this object lesson.
No, what I meant was that my subscription to Norton will expire and I need to renew it. What exactly is that link for though?
I gave Norton the heave-ho a few months ago and I don't regret it. It always forced a scan every Friday at 8pm, no matter what options I turned off. It made my PC run really freaken slow.
http://www.Grisoft.com/ AVG Free Edition works better than Norton. (Proven track record, ask anyone who's had both. lol) http://www.Avast.com/ Avast is another freebie that works good, hell, this one will run during your screen saver so it's not in your way. Both are highly recommended. Also, Spyware removal software's another good thing to have. Ad Aware SE, and Spybot S&D are both good and highly recommended. http://www.lavasoft.com/ Ad Aware Special Edition (free) www.safer-networking.org/en Spybot Search & Destroy
That's exactly why I posted that link. It's the same as the automatic subscription based update.Except it's 1)Updated daily and 2)It's done manually Basically it's essentially a way to keep Norton up to date without paying to renew your subscription
