How so? Looks like G1 Megatron to me. The story might be different (more mature in nature), but G1 Megatron will always be Frank Welker... Besides, if you're going to stray from the original with him, why not do the same with everyone else? Seems odd to put so much effort into making the other characters sound like they did 25 years ago, well, all, but one anyway.

Design-wise he's similar, but I can't hear Welker's weak Megatron voice giving the same "menace" with those lines as...whoever they used did it in the clip.

 

Since when did voice make a person menacing? Sure it can help, but a person's actions should be far more menacing than anything else. Not everyone can sound like Darth Vader nor should they.

If you like the new voice better, that's cool. I'm just disappointed that the powers that be felt it wasn't necessary to go all the way with this project. For me at least, Welker will ALWAYS BE G1 Megatron. It doesn't matter who pens the script, as his voice is the one I associate with G1 Megatron; it's the voice I hear when I watch the old shows on DVD and the one I hear in my head still as I type this reply. His voice, be it Welker or someone else doing a cover his voice, will be missed.

I'm going to pile my option on the side of "don't like All Hail Megatron." I prefer the growing plot and character development of Furman's IDW stuff, even if it took a while to really hook me.

All Hail Megatron: When it's not being awkwardly nostalgic, any plot or character stuff is ruined by the wretchedly cliche dialogue.

 

This. Was kinda the mid ground between Welker and Hugo. Gravelly like Welker, with more bass and sinster. Yeah, I would like that for movie megs.

And the Starscream voice?!? Wow, better than Tom Kenny's impersonation, and that's saying alot.

On the Welker discussion, I wouldn't call his Megatron weak  

 

This was just a demo of what the project would be like. Using that specific comic for the demo. Who knows what comic they would use for the actual project. There are so many different TF comics to choose from. I wouldn't mind some G1 Marvel comics.

 

There's a problem, I always associate Welker's Megatron voice with "shit" and I couldn't care less if he gets in or not unless it's in a Scooby Doo remake.

 

See, if they start working on Reign of Starscream in this way, I'd so buy it.

Or hell, they'd probably have it up on Youtube.

 

Actually I he kind of reminded me of G1 Scrapper.

 

The biggest reason it sucked in my opinion is because I was expecting an actual animated "cartoon". Instead..we got this. I guess it wasn't too bad if you never read the prequel comic.

 

Very cool! I'd love to read a comic series like that, especially if I didn't have read it! (or travel to the local comic shop to get it)

All Hail Megatron has been my most favorite TF comic series in years.

If your bored with Furman, & EJ Su & prefer more old school looking flavor with the Decepticons actually winning then you will enjoy this series.

Experiencing this series as an animated comic with that level of voice work would be priceless.
