Not necessarily. Various G1 characters have drastically different personalities, depending on which version of G1 you're talking about. Hopefully we'll eventually get enough official word on it being a reboot for them to be separated. Of course, that's assuming the Studio execs are ever willing commit to this being a reboot.

Huh, you're right. That is extremely weird. If they're willing to distinguish between those characters, then surely we've gotten enough evidence to make it clear that, for instance, TF1 Dropkick and BB Dropkick aren't the same character, which should in turn set precedent that ROTB characters can be presumed to be separate entities, until proven otherwise.

Gotta give the guy credit at least he was battling leaks and tried to keep everyone in suspense for the movies.

At the same time, he was also spewing nonsense, contradicting himself and msking messy movies.

Never said his movies were good. Don't misconstrue what I am saying.

It's actually kind of funny because all that happened was he ended up having a reputation for his statements being untrustworthy.

It's like he wanted to play the Intel game but didn't know how and instead just shot himself in the foot.

He managed to LARP a disinformation campaign where he turned out to be the single most unreliable source.

One little thing, @Nevermore, could you recall what the original DeSanto treatment entailed? It would be interesting to see what changed.

From what I recall, it was beyond G1 cartoon levels of silliness. The Deceptions absorbing the power of nuclear weapons or somesuch.

It was completely ignored for the final film. The John Rogers draft is the first version of the plot of the actual movie that I know of.

    Ebay:
The John Rogers script was like goofier than a Joel Schumacher Batman movie.

    * Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo, "I don't know what to do..."
    * PlayStation vs. Xbox gain sentience and fight each other (sort of like the Mountain Dew part but with a PlayStation and Xbox)
    * Military general and Sam Witwicky cringe: "So you're saying these machines are more than meets the eye?" "Their robots in disguise!"
    * Soundwave hiding in a refrigerator, soldier dude opens it and doesn't see him. Soldier guy slams the door. Soundwave is pissed, "Filthy slamming monkey!"
    * Autobots get upgrades from the cast of Pimp My Ride in the climax

Basically, the John Rogers script reads like it was purposefully written to be every bad Hollywood popcorn movie trope of the 00s. It's borderline parody.

The Bay films are bad too but in a different way.

The build up to the release of ROTF was so fun. It's a shame I can't remember much of it from back in 2008/2009.

Yes, at least most of one. I recall reading a leaked script which ended up being more or less >80% accurate to the 2007 movie.
