It's fairly common in Hollywood to suffer from over confidence and talk about movies that are little more than talk. Sony talked up The Amazing Spider Man 3 until the returns on The Amazing Spider Man 2 made the studio decide a complete and total reboot would be the only way to the box office they wanted. Fox was all confident in their talk about Fantastic Four 2 even as the big entertainment story was about how bad Fantastic Four was bombing at the box office.

Haven't even seen if the second soft reboot in two films can turn around the domestic box office or if the world wide box office is really excited about a Bumblebee solo film and they are already talking like all their big plans are some sort of done deal.

I always thought TF6 was the 2019 release and the Bee movie was it's own thing. I guess it depends on what Bee's movie is really about.

It just seems like Daily Mail is talking a bunch of BS, because (I think it was) di Bonaventura said in an interview recently that Bay still hadn't made a decision on his future plans with Transformers (executive producer, director, etc). And there's no way Daily Mail got this kind of exclusive.

The Bumblebee Movie is only number 6 in the sense of literally being the 6th Transformers movie they're making, chronologically. The titles of the movies have never really had the number in them anyway, so it's more just a production number.

 

But, he could make some improvements in the designs.

Guys the 2019 film is going to be the seventh film but its title is "Transformers 6" because its the sixth main film while "Bumblebee" will be the sixth film. GET IT.     

 

I foresee someone else will direct the Bee movie, but bay will return to direct the next actual transformers movie. He will have plenty of time off to recuperate and get his hunger back....thus imo....he'll be back.That's my prediction.
