Any director would have had the same effect on the franchise, Bay or not.

It was the franchise that sold the tickets in the first place.
It were the fans that kept the franchise alive for all these years to come this far so a movie became a possibility.

Bay thinks he's the reason this franchise can have "lasting legs"?
The arrogant director didnt even want the franchise since it was a glorified toy commercial with no deep story.

    Lasting legs?
    Dont make me laugh.

I can't be bothered with it anymore. It is the same thing every time, "It will be the best one", "It will be my last one", "It will do stuff no movie has ever done before".........

Don't get me wrong, I think the movies are okay and that they are great action movies, but unfortunately they are pretty awful as Transformers movies.

It is great news for those who really enjoyed the trilogy, I hope it turns out better than all the rest :)  I can't say I have any interest in the current movie universe and doubt I will even bother going to see it this time.

Feel like i'm in the minority on this board but I actually LIKE Michael Bay's Transformers movies. These movies actually allow me to share my passion with other people who wouldn't necessarily care about Tranformers otherwise.

I can actually talk about Autobots vs Decepticons with my parents and they kno exactly what i'm talking about. I'm sorry but the fact that I can talk about Transformers being a viable franchise again is priceless.

I'm sure some other director could create a Transformers movie that's closer to G-1, g-2, beast wars etc., like The Avengers movie is closer to the comic book. But that's a big if and for all we know that attempt could end up ostracizing all but the most hardcore fans. And that my friends is far mor lame then creating a product that more people enjoy!

In other words just because a movie franchise is "closer" to the soure material doesn't always make it better. But hey maybe someone could create something of higher quality but if there is someone out there shouldn't you be blaming HASBRO more and not Michael BAY?

I mean Hasbro chose Bay not the other way around.

I'll definitely be getting my popcorn ready for TF 4!

Although my interest in Transformers currently is marginal at best, the fact that you people have to suffer through another Bay movie and pointless rage (cause let´s face, what can you do?), brings me with joy.

But we didn't get any other director we got Bay. All the whining and bitching won't change the past. His movies must be pleasing someone based on the repeated box office sales, dvd sales and toy sales. In fact, the only people that don't like the movie seem to be "Transformer Fans".

It's only eight pages for me. :p

And as far as the fourth movie goes, I've stopped giving a damn at this point. Bay can do whatever he wants with the films; as long as they don't involve anything from Beast Wars, I won't care.

Well, calling it "discussion" might be too generous.

Agreed it's like the boy who cried wolf at this point. He's said it's his last one so many times that when he says it's his last one people just say sure it is. Or it's like the Brett Favre where you have the big emotional send off only for the guy to keep coming back. At some point people just get tired of the endless series of send offs.

Remember that Micheal Bay also said that Dark of the Moon was going to tie up everything so well that the next film would have to be a reboot. Yet now that he's doing the forth film all of a sudden it's not going to be a reboot in way shape or form even though it's a whole new human cast, new robots, and the film is "re-imagined".

Transformers 4–which is going in a total new direction and in a way to really broaden the franchise to give it lasting legs.”

The guy really is oblivious. isn't he.
