Thanks, you've been very helpful.
This whole thing is stupid and like usual, Michael Bay is throwing a tantrum.
He needs to go back and read the article, because there was nothing disrespectful about it.
Bring back frank!!!!
Did The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings bypass you at the cinema or something?
Not to mention The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Wellllll....I did like his "Mine, All--spppaarrrka"
That's why he should only use class acts..like Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. They don't badtalk their VA roles.
But Transformers didn't make Weaving famous; The Matrix and the Lord of the Rings trilogy did.
And Megatron might be an iconic character in other Transformers media, but in the movies he's usually not the main villain, and he really doesn't do much in the films anyway.
To Weaving the roll of Megatron is obviously a throw away roll to him. I'm sorry if you don't like his opinion, but he's entitled to it, and Weaving did it in a somewhat professional and a respectful manner. It's not like he's talking shit about the movie; he just doesn't care.
If the Matrix or Lord of the Rings flew below his radar, I seriously doubt a dramatic comedy about drag queens in Australia would even be in his mind.
It was funny though, sad at times though.
Michael Bay? Being childish? Impossible.
I kinda have to agree with Bay, though I get that Mr. Weaver was just stating his own personal truth. I guess it just comes down to the fact that I find this statement very, very hard to dislike: "They can give their “unhappy job money” to a wonderful Elephant Rescue. It’s the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Africa. I will match the funds they donate."
I don't know. That just kinda struck me in the right way.
Double post. D'oh.
As someone who's managed to enjoy the movieverse (even RotF) so far, I've still found it...interesting, how parts of the fanbase will stick up for him. It's something I never expected, even if the films were well-received.
Whodathunkit, I'm with Bay on this one. Hugo should have kept his mouth shut. You don't badmouth your work, ever.
Don't ever come to my place of employment. I'd drive you nuts.
Bye Bye Hugo. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Hello Mr. Welker.
Enough to discuss it on the next podcast?
Oh please, like you've never said anything slightly critical about any work you've ever done in your life...
OK, for one thing, I'm sure he won't be missing the franchise at all as he already said he didn't feel very connected to it. Also, he's kind of doing that whole Hobbit thing (which will make money AND be good films!).
Also, no Hello Mr. Welker because Megatron is dead. Kind of made a big show of this at the end of DOTM.
I'm baffled that people are still talking about it. Are so many people so thin skinned that they can't take someone being ambivalent towards this franchise?
Actually Micheal is absolutely right. There are so many actor whinning and complaining about their trials and tribulations related to the film world. Just today Joaquin Phoenix was quoted as calling the Oscars BS because his role in some film has now but on the Oscar track; "It was one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life when 'Walk the Line' was going through all the awards stuff and all that," "I never want to have that experience again. I don't know how to explain it—and it's not like I'm in this place where I think I'm just above it—but I just don't ever want to get comfortable with that part of things." There are actors struggling that would kill for opportunities like this. Yesterday it was Hugo Weaving and today Joaquin Phoenix...whining cry babies. Micheal Bay is right in every word he said. I'm sure Frank Welker would appreciate graduating from Transformers Prime on TV to the Silver Screen in 3D for Transformers 4.
I kinda agree with Bay. Making that much money, surely Hugo Weaver could have gotten access to the set and what ever if he wanted to. His fault for sitting on his butt? AND I PUMPED FOR A NEW CHARACTER
