I think he enjoyed making the movies, but he does need a break. An extended one. I have no problem with Bay and would love to see his work with TF's again...........in say 5 or so years.

If Bay had nothing else to do in life and he was despite for money then maybe there would some way to rope him back in.

But he's got other film projects he's been wanting to work on and he just can't direct those other films he wants to do if he has to make a Transformers movie every two years. He's also got his production company so maybe he wants to go do the producer thing for a while.

He put in a lot of time and lot of effort into the films and got to a point where he felt like he could be happy ending his involvement there so I don't expect him to come back.

Yesterday, I was watchedThe Incredible Hulk (2008), which was directed by Louis Leterrier, on BluRay Disc. He really knows how to direct action sequences and is good at creating a good story. So, I think he'd be a good choice for the films. The only downside to choosing him would be his lack of experience with directing scenes that are as epic as those directed by Michael Bay.

If he's one of those guys who doesn't think he can be "too rich", he might be back for 4. All that DOTM revenue can't be ignored.

The thing that I don't like about Louis Leterrier is that his movies tend to be too serious. For example the Clash Of The Titans remake where the movie was dull and completely lacks any fun factor that made the original so great.

If Michael Bay isn't returning to the TF franchise, personally I prefer Lens Wiseman as his replacement. Watch Live Free or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) for proof the man can make good action movie with a good story.

For some reason Micheal Bay has never struck me as one of those money is everything sort of people. He does a lot of charity stuff so if he loves money why just give money away.

His real passion seems to be the technical side of film making because you just can't seem to get the guy to stop talking in an interview when it comes to things like cameras or frame rates. If they want to bait him into a film perhaps they need to use some technical challenge as the lure.

I want a new director. Just so people can hurl insults and criticism his way and talk about how crappy the movies are and how their boyhood memories were just brutally murdered.

I think Bay loves making the movies, but he also wants to do other projects such as Bad Boys 3 and that low budget heist film he wants to do. Look at it this way, he's devoted 5 years (7 if you count the filming of the first movie) to this franchise without a break in between. Even Chris Nolan felt like he couldn't do TDKR immediately after TDK and did Inception.

I love how everyone makes these Transformers 4 threads like will Michael Bay be back as if it has been announced that there is even going to be a Transformers 4!!!
We don't even know if it is going to happen so everyone stop with the dang threads asking questions about a movie that doesn't exist!

I doubt Michael Bay will be back for TF4.

I think he has had enough of Transformers, and he will most likely move on and direct other films that are not about Transformers.

Maybe, just maybe, he will come back after some years to direct TF4, but I'm not so sure. He would have to hire all his Transformers team again, like the designers, the producers, the voice cast, and the animators. And without those people being the same ones of the trilogy, TF4 wouldn't be as good as the other films.

This. I like the movies, but reboot or nothing.
Transformers Prime? Same writers(Well, from the first two films),they use CGI etc. One main difference. THE STORY IS GREAT! They can make a good show without having to rely on dumb jokes.
