Just played MGO for the first time a few hours ago, and my god...the online mode is *incredible.* I freaking love it.

I bought it yesterday, and finally got around to playing it today.

Now, as a total MGS noob (the PlayStation demo doesn't count), I had to start Snake Eater on Very Easy. And it's a good thing I did, because I had some... difficulty sneaking and hiding from the guards in the tall grass. Of course, once I realized how good the EZ Gun is, I was able to tranq and kill every guard leading up to the rescue of Sokolov without being seen.

Now I'm at the beginning of Operation Snake Eater, looking for ADAM. I hope the rest of the game is as good as it's been so far.

Unfortunately, I don't have the stuff needed to play online, so I won't be joining you guys.

How do you add people to your Friend List? It looks like the only way to do it is via the scoreboard...

I'm also pretty disappointed by the booklet that came with the game...I mean, you basically have to figure out multiplayer on your own. What does it mean that there are red and blue microfilm icons in the Snake vs. army mode?

The instruction booklet say that you can download an in-depth PDF version of the instructions.

    Thank you!!

EDIT: But, hrm...despite all those links, I still don't really see anything explaining the two differently colored microfilms in Infiltration mode, or how to add people to your friends list that you haven't just played with or found on the high score roster.

Yeah, me neither...as much as I love MGO, it's pretty clear there's some more stuff they should have added on. :(

Alright, how bout this weekend one of us makes a game with a password and puts it on a unpopulated sever? That way we can get on each other's friend list. I can't make it because of my router.

So I played against Beowulf, No. 1 on the score leaderboards today.

    He's not very good.

In fact, the only thing he's really good at is sitting in a corner waiting for a fight to break out and take potshots for heads. Get the jump on him and he's a little girl, he only scored 7 kills higher than me for first place. Hell, if my assumptions are correct, he makes all the games he plays to make sure they're small maps.

PS: I'm pretty sure he's only 13, judging by the way he types.

PPS: I was Chameleon rank but I lost it somehow. I don't understand the system.

PPPS: No. 89 on the Sneaking Leaderboard for this week.

    Where'd you find that?

Also, let's do the tfw2005 game on the NINJA server around noon EST on Saturday. Pick a name we can identify as the game and pick a password. I'll think up a bitchin' playlist.

Don't worry, I've only played once. End of semester, so free time is few and far apart.

Still learning the ropes, but can't wait to play some more. Hideo Kojima-san can have my babies.

I'd go simpler...just TFW for game name, and 2005 for password. Less case-sensitive typing that way.

So...noon EST would be 9AM Pacific, right? I'll be able to join in on that, on NINJA.

Damn I just beat the Ocelot unit and saved in the swamp with all the Gavials, and I have finally gotten used to the new camera and it makes a whole world of difference. It truly feels like a new game. And the jungle seems way more inmersive this way. I can't seemyself using the old camera again for this game. However, it says everywhere that in the indoor levels the old camera is better so I can't rule it out yet and everyonce in a while I switch back for a few seconds.

    :D

This is still my fav game ever and Kojima and company have done the unthinkable... they've made it even better. Can't wait to play online with all of you... or against you.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I don't know if I can host...if it's noon EST and there's nothing up, I'll try.

I'll be going into the NINJA server, like previously discussed, with room name TFW and password 2005 if no one else has already done so by then.
