May have to swap out Flame Commander for this guy. Hot Rod always wins out over Rodimus for me.

 

Interesting. Seems an odd choice since their Rodimus already functions as a Hot Rod. I'll pass on this one - I use MFT for my bigger bots but I prefer my carbots smaller - but I'll watch this out of casual interest.

 

Why no Targetmaster? Do they intend to release this mold in these colors a third time?

 

They say "it is also one of the characters in our big movie completion plan", so it would seem as if they'll be rounding out some of the movie cast.

I can't help but think that will include an Arcee.
Edit: they say in the post's comments that she is part of the plan.

Also of note is that this Hot Rod is 10cm tall - which is to the top of MST Prime's chest.

the alt mode kind of looks like shit. but MFT sure knows how to finish out a bot so i am definitely interested.

10cm will work well with MS mags also.

i am also glad i traded away that thing they called rodimus.

Hey at 10 cm, it’s an MFT I might actually buy! fit nice with other Legends.

 

This should go well with Generations Star Convoy.

 

Ah! Here we go! Very excited, I'd love to have a Hot Rod for my little Legends collection of carbots. And 10 CM is pretty darn close to IF and MS carbot size in robot mode.

And I like Hot Rod better than Rodimus. Been waiting on one!

 

Hmm, not sure if I like this better than PPT Hot Rod.

I collect regular legends for the most part, but it would be cool to have a legends + movie cast.

Still, not sure if I should hunt down the PPT one or wait for this.

 

At 10cm I can fudge it with my smaller Legends bots. Not like we really have other options besides that horrible Combiner Wars version.

 

Happy with the PPT + MFT Rodimus. The fishing pole accessory is a nice touch but they're going to have to add a mini Daniel on top of that for me to buy a 3rd hot rod.

 

I definitely think this will be a great Hot Rod for Legends scale, wether intended or not.

I mention this because I spent the past two days teaching my son the basics of 3d modelling, and he wanted to do one of Arcee's blasters as a first project. We skimmed through all of her G1 appearances for reference art, and found that she actually uses like 6 different ones.

More relevant here is that at 10 cm, MFT's Hot Rod should go perfectly with DX9's Arcee and Kup, based on all the video I watched. In both the movie and the S3 episodes (there's one where RP gives the Matrix to zombie Optimus, and so RP reverts to HR), Hot Rod's just a little taller than both.

 

Yeah, I'm really glad I waited. Hot Rod is my favorite design for transformers next to Sunstreaker. I was tempted to get Papa-toys version of hot rod but hesitated because of the backpack (missed out on him), didn't Flame Commander because I hated how the shins we on the side of the car mode (minor nitpick) and thought I'd have to wait for Newage or Magic Square to take him on. But seeing this guy made him an insta-buy. Not missing out on this one!

 

That's a perfect scale for my collection! Just makes me want him even more! If they are doing the movie cast I'd love to see them do Arcee, Kup, maybe a new Springer and Blur. The DX9 versions of the characters they did just feel out of place among the Magic Square and Newage mix I have going on my shelf so newer figures to replace them would be more than welcome! Also looking forward to their version of Tracks!
