I'll definitely watch it. Mr. Robot is the best show on TV right now, and Metropolis is one of the most important science fiction films and it could be brought to a modern audience in this format quite well.

Metropolis deserves to be fleshed out and given a chance to tell it's story. A chopped up lost film destroyed by the ravages of time didn't do it justice. Hopefully this will.

And this is coming from someone who loves the film.

    Well put.

Even Fritz Lang wasn't all that pleased with the end result, though how much the socio-political issues of the time has to do with that may have colored his comments later.

And I like the animated movie Otomo and Rintaro adapted from the comic. But the Lang movie is the source of everything. Tezuka's early career had him kind of plagiarizing stories from all over... this movie, novels by Conan-Doyle, etc. That's just what the industry was when he entered it. But for a new tv series today, there's no reason for them not to go all the way to the original source.

i also like that movie. and i know he plagiarized a lot of what he wrote. and i am okay with that. because what he did was take the ideas and made them his own.

I remember in college I had a class where we compared Metropolis to Blade Runner.
