The new trailer is EPIC. And return of Ashely Wood = LOVE.

Downloading demo now. Gotta dust off my PSP and check its firmware I suppose.

edit: argh, there is no hacked 6.00 firmware.   It's not like I've been homebrewing lately anyway, my PSP hasn't been booted in months, but argh. Oh, 6.0 has only been out for like 2 weeks.

 

demo is fairly short, gameplay-wise.

it controls really well. face buttons are used like a second analog stick for camera movement. d-pad left brings up item menu, right is weapon menu, down is crouching, and up is a context sensitive thing, cling to walls, search soldiers for items, stuff like that. L is bring up weapon, R fires. R without L does CQC.

I'm impressed. plays much better than portable ops.

 

zOMG! I guess I'll have to install the official firmware now and pandorize the system later to go back to CFW.

That new trailer was FAN-tastic! Ashley Wood is back too? Man, this is gonna be one helluva game!

 

And Yet Not a Word Has Been Spoken of a Rising Trailer... Hmm I Fear for Rising for without the Kojima it will reak of Fail

this is good to hear, i thought PO was pretty well done.

 

That's either due to the fact that Microsoft are waiting to show a trailer at their press conference (assuming they have one at TGS), or Kojima Productions simply don't have enough material to show yet. Keep in mind that while Peace Walker got gameplay in its E3 trailer, all we saw of Rising was a render of Ninja Raiden.

As for suggestions of its quality, admittedly I'm concerned that Kojima's not directing, but if it's set when I think it is ( ie.

I Liked Raiden in MGS2...

you can't just wade in here saying shit like that son, you could start a riot.

 

Personally, I like all characters of the franchise, including bishounen Raiden from MGS2... But look at how badass he because in MGS4! It's pretty obvious that Rising will explain how Raiden went from bish boy to bitchin' Ninja.

Now about the Peace Walker demo... Played it a bit this morning, but will take more time tonight after work to really get to play with the controls. First impressions - Best graphics from a PSP Metal Gear game thus far. Portable Ops was good, but had low polygon count and blurry textures. Peace Walker looks more like MGS3 looked on the PS2, but with certain key elements of MGS4 (the 'radar' spinning around your character, the ability to auto or manual aim, the way the camera snaps when aiming a weapon, etc.)

The controls take a bit of time to get used to, especially if you were used to the big mess of a control scheme that Portable Ops was, but they are way more intuitive and the closest they'll get to the bigger console's controls. The game looks extremely promising and I can't wait to dive deeper in the story.

Oh, and The Ashley Woods art in the cutscenes are gorgeous. I cannot wait to buy this game!

 

Can you do the co-op in the demo? I wanna hear how that goes!

 

Hmm, not sure, will have to check that out, but I sadly don't know anyone nearby with a PSP  

 

I also forgot to ask, is this demo out on the PSN now or can you only get it though some special condition?
