I keep going back and forth on whether I want to pay this guy off. One one hand we are unlikely going to get an official one any time soon. This one is a nice placeholder. But the helmet having that white on the inside bothers me, and while I can paint it, I really don't want to have to do that. It really does ruin the aesthetic for me a bit. Some of the reviewers have shown me how his midsection is hinged on as well. No ab crunch kinda sucks, but I appreciate the engineering of the transformation. Maybe I'll wait a while and see instead of paying off the pre-order. He does look cool for the most part, but I'm still uncertain.

 

Mine still hasn’t shipped so I guess I’ll be waiting an extra 2 weeks.

 

I paid off my PO on ShowZ yesterday, and am shocked to see a shipping notice today. Not likely it'll get out of China before CNY though.

 

Mine still says, "Shipping Information received". Been like that for 3 days now.

Mine have both finally updated and moved, yet my XTB Prosecutor, which went into the system 2 days prior, hasn't.

An example of someone painting the face (not mine) but it looks SO much better. I have to wonder if this recurring theme of third parties missing paint apps has something to do with IP/Copyright issues? Or is just laziness/budget?
I'll have to replicate something like this.

This is the description (translated) of how they did it:

The first step is to blacken all, the second step is to light a larger eyeballs with red paint, the third step is to light a thin circle inside the eyeballs with yellow paint, and the last one of the third white paint is completed (don't get out of bounds under the eyes, but the upper part of bounds, and you can finally whiten with white paint. Upper eyelid part~

I got a question for the more experienced in ordering from china during CNY.
Do packages just stop moving completely? or are there slow updates? if that is the case, when does the usual pace of packages comes back after CNY? Jan 29th or until Feb?

I wonder if Stickers (Reprolabels?) could be made for his forehead designs.
Everything else can be easily painted, like the eyes imo

 

Annoying that we are getting another masterpiece figure with bad paint decisions.

It really bothers me when you have these companies do such a crazy amount of amazing engineering and effort, only to shit the bed on the paint job. ESPECIALLY on the head, which is generally the most iconic aspect of a design. Looking at you TA Megatron.

 

Just got this guy in from BBB. Really like most of him, but a few gripes. I regrettably never paid any attention to his robot hands, but they're pretty awful in both design and articulation. It's not at all a deal breaker, but I'm quite surprised with the design choice, even considering how they figure into the transformation (barely). I also found the very tip of the back of his beast head was broken off. I couldn't find any pieces anywhere around my work area, only a single tiny paint flake that wouldn't account for the break, so assuming it was lost before packaging. Again, still not a deal breaker, and barely noticeable even when looking directly at it, but a fair caution to those handling this guy, that piece is probably fragile at the tip.

Transformation is pretty intuitive, but tolerances are fairly tight, just as many of the tabs are; meaning you'll probably be doing exactly what you're supposed to, but the figure will not cooperate easily, especially when getting the full wings lined up and tabbed together. I think he looks pretty good in either mode, and material quality seems pretty good, but I don't think I'll be transforming him back and forth much at all.

TL;DR He's pretty good, but feels like he's lacking the finer touches and finishing quality of bigger names in the game, but definitely fits well with his price point ($95USD), IMO.

I'm in the exact same predicament for the exact same reasons, lol!

 

The face/head was what ultimately led me to (begrudgingly) decide against ordering this guy. There's so much to love here, but if I'm not 100% in on it after trying this hard, then I'm going to have to sleep on it. I guess this is what it means "not to settle just because it's the best we have right now."

I'll let everyone else enjoy it for me and I can't wait to see the pictures everyone posts and especially any paint touch ups.  

 

Wow I'm really impressed by those paint touch ups, the face is really convincing me it's Terrorsaur there. I hope my lines turn out as clean as those. I wasn't going to attempt pupils or the head crest either but that just looks too good not to try especially with 3 faces to work on. Touching up the area around the eyes with white is essential too cause just look at how defined the shape of those eyes are now.

 

I suggest you use vallejo water based paint as it is easier to clean it up/ wipe out. Use toothpick to clean it lol

 

Mine should be arriving in the next few hours. Looking forward to fondling him.
