But I can totally imagine mold degradation kicking in. Remolding DoubleCross into Regpugnus and Grotusque, and then even further into Fangry...

I actually was expecting Repugnus to be remolded into Squeezeplay/Cancer at some point, but there was nothing that would come close to Bullhorn. Maybe Weirdwolf? He was the only quadruped, I think?

Is anyone actually giving JT a hard time?

Occasional underwhelming reveals are the nature of the beast in this fandom. I honestly didn’t expect much of anything given the scope of this one, not being a Pulse or Brand Team stream or anything.

 

Do you guys think we will get an online Fan Reveal event in February since Toy Fair is all the way in Sept/Oct this year?

 

I feel like yes there will be.

 

I believe the expectation is 2023.

With Studio Series 86 Optimus being the 2024 SS Commander.

 

That’s likely what it is. Prime will definitely if it happens (which is very likely) be 2024z

 

But they were also a stretch goal that required no dedicated new tooling. They could probably be given a pass if the funding was not reached, nor were they integral to Victory Saber himself.

 

Oh, I think it’s absolutely the definition of small demand.

 

Are we getting an SS 86 Megatron to go with Optimus?

 

We don't know, just like we don't know if we are getting a new Prime in 2024. But I think so for sure.

 

IIRC the retail micromasters from Siege and earthrise didn't sell too well. Even the Amazon 6 pack is still available.

 

Correct, that's why the line was cancelled. No idea if the figures with DS were only at the design stage, or if their molds had already been tooled up prior to the line being cancelled.

 

For comparison I handled both Doublecross & Fangry (I don't have Repugnus or Grotesque, someday I'll get them lol), while Fangry's not awful, his leg joints are quite loose compared to Doublecross, and Fangy's foot likes to pop off whenever I transform him.

If they turned Repgunus into Squeezeplay/Cancer that'd be cool, but I am a little concerned about mold degradation being worse on that.

Honestly now that you point it out, I can see Weirdwolf being turned into Horribull/Bullhorn. Especially if they are willing to put in the same amount of remolding they put into the Monsterbots & Fangry.

Upon handling all of them, I gotta say a huge turn off was how fiddly & not fun a lot of them were. Annoying transformations for such simple little figures, and so many joints popping off. Also some of them just cannot stand no matter what I do. To make things worse a majority of them are redecos which I don't think helped at all. Maybe it would've been a little more successful if there were more new molds? Then again who knows. They also didn't do jack with the micromaster bases, they released two & repainted them to oblivion. I feel like they could've done at least one more or something. At the very least they spiced up one of my shelves which is cool ig.

Honestly if I didn't get such a good deal on every WFC micromaster, I probably wouldn't have even bothered tracking them down. While its a shame they were cancelled, I'm glad to see legends class back again.

This gave me an amusing thought: so if Studio Series is to give figures to basically any on screen thing even if they were only on screen for a total of 10 seconds... does that mean any character that showed up on-screen in the 80's movie could get an '86 figure?

 

I mean I want a new Prime as I have a few gripes with ER Prime, but I think I lowkey want a new Megatron even more. The Megatron mold we got in WFC was pretty bad so I hope they'd maybe start from the ground up.

At the very least give us a Megatron that's actually the same height as Prime and doesn't yellow to shit. Maybe make him a leader this time around just for good measure, maybe they could do more with that budget.

If not I hope they at least get Animated Megatron right whenever they decide to make him.
