I agree, Soundwave's character doesn't really fit with the Dreadnoks. Maybe Wildrider or another Stunticon would have been a better choice.

yeah, that’s a really good point.

Been trying to think what would make sense as Optimus Prime, be big, but not TOO big to be unreasonably expensive, and. Keep coming back to the HAVOC. Fairly Iconic, mostly a big rectangle, so not that hard to build Robo-kibble inside of, and the thing that really would make me flip my lid, if they made the sky-sled and it could transform into Roller. (Basically just 6 flip-out wheels)

edit: I went and looked at the HAVIC after posting that, and it’s actually surprisingly slight in bulk, going off how Megatron and Bumblebee maintain pretty tight to the geometry of the original Joe toys I’m not sure there’s enough mass to make the HAVOC convert to a robot.

    I imagine they’d go Jetfire….

Because It’d be nothing but an expensive reference to a VERY obscure idea in the franchise. In my opinion, It’d be a waste of plastic if Hasbro decided to even make them, considering not many people would spend a hundred+ dollars on just one army builder unless they had a lot of extra money or were unhealthily obsessed with collecting.

That was what I was referencing when I said this was the first I'd heard of it.

This I completely missed, and didn't hear anything about until now.

I guess it's a case of "It's the best fit for an Established Transformer to become a G.I. Joe Vehicle". What else could Megatron become?

After seeing the great work they’ve done with SS86 Ironhide, I believe that they’ll both be almost entirely new molds possibly.

Ah, that was the term I was looking for. "Best fit".

It's true there's probably other characters who'd "fit" better, like Onslaught as a HISS so the dual barrels resemble his typical silhouette or (if there was no concern for factions) Powerglide as a Rattler. But for a crossover thing, it's almost guaranteed to be a big name that even people who aren't particular familiar with the property will recognise.

If I remember right, part of the reason the Marvel VS Capcom series of games were quite popular is because they included some of the big names (e.g. Ryu from Streetfighter, Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Spider-Man and Iron Man from Marvel) and also some more unusual or less well-known ones (e.g. Jin Saotome of Cyberbots, Captain Commando, Shuma-Gorath). But if there was only a limited number of slots, it's practically guaranteed they'd stick to the really famous ones (i.e. Ryu, Morrigan, Spider-Man, Iron Man) and leave out the less well-known ones. A similar thing would be seen here. I mean, yes, it'd be nice if the COBRA vehicles were all the Combaticons, but who would sell more, Onslaught or Megatron?

I'm genuinely unsure of how I feel about an SS86 Ultra Magnus or even an SS86 Optimus Prime, since I do feel the Kingdom and Earthrise versions are perfectly fine representations. On the other hand, I felt the same way about Earthrise Ironhide, and I still went hunting for the SS86 Ironhide to see what was different (waiting for an SS86 Ratchet retool of Ironhide so I can stop pretending SS Bumblebee Ratchet is the G1 version).

I do think that if people missed out on the Kingdom Magnus and Earthrise/Kingdom Optimus, SS86 versions would be excellent alternatives, but like some others here have mentioned a new Magnus would really have to wow me to convince me to get another.

I hope Studio Magnus is not just a repaint of Earthrise in brighter colors. Although it would explain why Earthrise Magnus had darker colors - to resell again in the 86 line. That would also mean a new Rodiums and Galvatron in brighter colors would be coming to the 86 line too.

It will be a new mold, and larger sized. Jeez, would it kill to actually read the front page properly? SS86 ultra Magnus will BE A COMMANDER CLASS TOY. NOT A REHASH OF EARTHRISE MAGNUS.
Well this is being posted earlier than expected. :p
