Darkmount is pretty neat. I typed several paragraphs about this when a BSG old school Cylon minimate fell on my my mouse and closed the tab. So I'll be brief this time.

Tank mode: Cannon rotates 360 and can angle up 45 degrees. There are 7 3mm hard points on the alt mode so you can really suit him out if you have a few extra weapons. He comes with 3 weapons that fit on those clips. One is a turret gun, one is a missile pod and the third is umm... no clue.

He has a turret mode too which I find very strange. He has handles that come out of the back that sit at exactly scout hand level but you could fold them back up and make him a weapons emplacement.

His transformation is a bit tricky, not Galvatron level of fiddly but getting close. Putting his weapon back going into the the alt mode can be a bit difficult.

Bot mode is great. The head has a lot of character and there's a lot of red that doesn't show in the other modes. The hard points don't work so well in this mode because most of them are on his legs now. Two of them sit above his shoulders and work nicely. His axe thing can be held as a rifle also if you're willing to fudge it a bit. His hands (despite closing with fingers ) can hold the standard 5 mm weapons nicely so you can give him nearly any other standard weapon. Mine is currently holding MP Grimlock's Sword. According to the instructions his axe can store on a slot thing on his back but for the life of me I can't figure out how it's supposed to work.

His articulation is close to as good as it gets, he has articulation everywhere you'd want it but a couple places fall short. His head is on a ball joint but the ball sits deep into his head so it doesn't have much up and down to speak of. The second is his elbows. He really could have benefited from a double elbow but as it is they can bend 90 degrees either towards his bicep or towards his chest or some combination of both, but it leaves him just short of being able to do some neat poses.

Overall, he's yet another awesome figure from Generations. He has a lot of personality, but probably could have done well to be a voyager class or bigger. He matches up well against Drift and is about average height amongst the generations figures.

P.S. If anyone can figure out how the bot mode weapon storage is supposed to work please show me.

EDIT: I figured out his weapon storage and took a bunch more pictures. If anyone has any pic requests let me know. And before anyone asks I don't have any version of Blaster, so I can't take any pictures of the two together.

Update: There are 10 3mm hard points. Most of them are really useless in bot mode:

The only other clip weapons I have: They also don't make much sense in bot mode:

Nooo! You beat me to this!

Anyway, I think I figured out the weapon storage. Just slot the gray post-thingies into the molded slot on his back. It's not a terrific fitm but it works.

Got to say, I love the look of the figure, not so much the transformation. I'm also not sure what they were thinking with the feet. He will stand but it takes some careful balancing and posing.

Cool idea with the scout-manned turret! I didn't think of that at all...

I tried that, but it seems to just kinda hang there loosely. If you look at the instructions it highlights the slot on the red part of his back as something that's supposed to peg into the weapon and I couldn't make that work at all.

I like it, but I never bothered with the 3rd mode, much like for ROTF Mixmaster. Better tank than Hailstorm imo.

I believe the third unknown weapon is a smoke-grenade launcher.

Looks awesome, think I'll get him, alongside Drift and Thrust.

Can't help but wonder how he'd look battling Device Label Blaster...

Are the clips & bars the same size as those found on recent ROTF toys (EG Skystalker, Breacher) ?

I picked this guy up at Auto Assembley, and I think he is great. The third mode isn't worth mentioning, but the artillery truck mode is nice, and the robot mode is decently posable and imposing. The clip on weapons are a pleasent surprise too. The only issue I have is is the use of that red plastic for the balljoints, I have had a few pop off. Otherwise, I think best thing I can say about the toy is that it would still be worth buying if it wasn't Straxus.

Can anybody figure out the name change? I can't imagine that Straxus was taken.

Straxus is apparently the name of an obscure Dr. Who character. It's also the name of a porn studio. After failing to notice a similar thing with Nexus Maximus, they probably decided to research a bit more this time
