Am i the only one who thinks that megatrons death in the first movie was a bit of a let down. I mean he is having this super powerful object shoved into his chest and what happens...he just gasps and drops dead. I found it so boring and out of touch with the whole tone of the final battle. It could have been like he lets out a loud monsterous roar of pain and anger as a wave of energy bursts from his body then he collapses to the ground dead and smoking.

the comic had the right idea with his death, pic shown below. anyone else feel the same way.

    O hai 2007. How you been? :p

    Fixed for accuracy. ;)

The comic version of Megatron's death really isn't that different than what we got in the film. "Megatron leans over Sam, Sam puts AllSpark into Megatron's spark, Megatron doesn't like that and he dies". That description basically fits the bill as to what we saw in the movie and what the comic above shows us, merely with two different mediums at work. Now don't get me wrong. I am in no way saying his death in the movie was perfect. I would've loved to have seen what you described; waves of blue energy forming and bursting through his body like a pulse, perhaps shattering nearby windows and causing Sam to fall to the ground with his hands covering his ears. But what we got was hardly 'out of touch' with the whole tone. Boring? Subjective. Out of touch tonally? Not really. It was what it was. A passable death scene, nothing super awesome to write home about. As is the nature of the movies, the endings are rather rushed, leading to relatively brief moments like this.

I'd say that the biggest complaint around Megatron's death seems to be focused on who killed him, not how he died.

TylerMirage said everything that needed to be said. Megatron's death was acceptable; killed by the very power he coveted, his core erupting into flame and smoke as he struggles with the pain, before flopping over in a final death throe and exhaling for the final time.

Why are some people still worried about something to happen in 2007?

Not true. Megatron's 07 death was far more climatic then:
    -The Fallen's death
    -Megatron's DOTM death
    -Shockwave's death
    -Sentinel Prime's death
    -Soundwave's death

Ironically, 4 out of 5 of those were dealt by Optimus Prime. Ot of anticlimatic human kills, you have to give an honourable mentions to Devastator for having a very anticlimactic kill. The toy bios had the right idea when they suggested Jetpower Prime would fight him, instead of what we got.

That was probably in the original plan. Before Devastator started destroying ILM's supercomputers...

Megatron did not die, he simply fell over exhausted and took a short nap until awakened by some friends that dropped by to visit and bring a snack.
How come no one is up in arms with "the allspark is gone, a race is destined to die because their life giving thing was destroyed" stuff?

    *sigh* What could've been... :(

Which is pretty much the most accurate way to describe Bayformers - or heck, any film adaptation of a comic/tv show/whatever - COULD'VE, WOULD'VE, SHOULD'VE.

    I genuinely :lol

Not really sure I understand what you're getting at. Cybertron is a dead, barren, destroyed world; its species nearly extinct because of the wars they caused. Yes, the AllSpark would've helped revive Cybertron and therefore possibly bring Cybertronians back from the brink of extinction, but Megatron's plans never really seemed to be catered around "I want to revive Cybertron and live happily ever after" as they were "I want to rebuild my army of evil Decepticons and conquer and pillage and destroy". Which is exactly what Megatron would've done if he ever got his hands on the AllSpark. Optimus basically made the choice that it'd be better for the AllSpark to be destroyed for good and his race slowly perish (because of their own doing, I remind you) than to have an innocent world like Earth be destroyed/enslaved/whatever because of the sins of Cybertronians. A dead Cybertron is better than a dead Earth.

All I have to say about the matter is that Optimus should have played a more important part in killing Megatron. In essence, all OP did was get bitch-slapped by Megatron until the Raptors shot him from behind, and Sam finished the job by fusing his spark with the cube.

Didn't matter that Optimus was losing; what mattered was that he should have at least teamed up with Sam to kill Megs. Something like him shooting off a piece of Megatron's armor/carapace/metal skin that had been damaged by the Raptors' missiles, allowing Sam to climb up Megs and shove the cube into his exposed spark chamber.

I think it would have been better if Optimus had grabbed the Allspark off Sam and shoved it into Megatron's spark himself.

I'd love that. Sam's all: "Yeah, I'm-a gonna kill the bad guy!", and then Optimus snatches it off him and shouts: "Screw you, I'll kill him!" and kills Megatron, and Sam complains: "But I was gonna do that!", and then: "Bitch, please, I'm Optimus- Wait for it- Prime."

I loved that cutscene. Optimus' mace-catch-and-pull followed up by super-punch was fantastic :D

Followed by the prompt "Optimus is a murdering monster with no soul how dare he kill Megatron Sam should've killed him!"-backlash. :p

Totally. I've been trying to find the clip on Youtube, but I can't seem to find it.

EDIT: Ah, thanks to Meta. ;)

This would've definitely been a cool way to end it. Though personally, I don't really care for the "Megatron acts dead and then SURPRISE SNEAK ATTACK"-aspect of it. Maybe if they had included one more close-up of shot of Megatron's eyes coming back online before he jumps up. That part just feels weird to me. But everything else... :bay
