This little guy captured my bird-loving heart, so I thought to introduce him to you. Here we have your ordinary run-of-the-mill budgie/parakeet. Here on the other hand, we have a mutant feather duster: Awww! Poor guy...lol He even has his own website and all: www.whipper.co.nz
I can't find any explanation on the site as to why the bird has such an appearance; all the stupid articles on him are written in the "fun feature" format. The best description I can find is "a rare mutation known as 'feater duster' syndrome." Oh, come on. I wonder if there's a connection between a mutation like this and another mutation that came up in the news recently - that mutated dog that hung around the toxic waste facility. Both, due to exposure to radiation, developed unique and overgrown hair/fur patterns. Strange.
Allegedly (love that word!) this is not the first time a bird like this has been spawned, and this is all tracked down to in-breeding in english show-budgies. His three siblings are all normal. But isn't he just the cuuuutest thing?
WTF is that!?! Poor thing . If it did'nt poop would be nice to to keep around the TF's to keep em dusty free. Don't remember seeing that in my Wildlife Treasury. Alwyays thought this bird was cool, it's called 'Cock of the rock' . Seriously.
According to the article, that dog hangs around a contaminated copper mining pit, not a radioactive waste dump. Poison /= radiation. I also didn't see any mention of him being a mutant. Rather nobody ever cuts his hair. Some breeds of dog are like that if you don't. The mop... errr, bird isn't the result of radiation either. His mutation is attributed to inbreeding.
